Same here! We went in early August and man it was so murky. However, there was a relatively large flash flood the night before we did the narrows so I definitely think that contributed to the muddy color.
We’ve lived in California our entire lives and have been able to hike some pretty amazing hikes here. Been to 15 US national parks so far (obviously have a lot more to go). Some other ones that stood out to us were the Kalalau trail on Kauai, Mist Trail in Yosemite, Delicate Arch in Arches, Grand Prismatic in Yellowstone, Skyline trail in Mount Rainer, Pīpīwai Trail on Maui. The Narrows remains at the top for us so far. Done it 5 times and it’s incredible every time. Curious to know which ones you think rank higher?
If the Narrows are open (which they usually always are in August, unless there is a flash flood) then you are able to rent shoes and socks and hiking sticks right at the entrance of the park in Springdale. Personally, we have been fine with some sturdy high top hiking shoes from home and a good hiking stick/pole. We’ve done the narrows 5 times and never had any issues.
This was September 18th and it felt very much like early Fall! The weather was crisp especially at the beach but not cold enough to bring a heavy jacket. If you go, I would bring a light jacket just in case and maybe a pair of pants for the morning/evening.
Done it a couple times, absolutely beautiful hike! But personally, I like West Fork in Sedona. Very similar and way less crowded, especially after the first few miles.
@@ParksnParks If you do visit Sedona might I also suggest Soldiers Pass and either a hike up Shnebley Hill or rent a side by side as it’s a very rough road. But at the top it offers some of the most spectacular views. If you’re in an RV I would suggest Rancho Sedona, it’s literally on Oak Creek!
I want to do it again. Went memorial weekend. Lots of people. I got as far as mystery falls but next time will go do early am. Water was cold, so i am thinking 50 degrees.
Ahh yes, we went on Memorial Day weekend a few years ago - so crowded! And Mystery Falls, we will check that out next time we go in august. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much. And nice! I would say try to get on the first shuttle of the morning in the town of Springdale, which I believe begins around 6am or 6:30am. It’s much more convenient and you can beat the crowds of the afternoon. Keep in mind the water will be very chilly! Sorry for the late reply - hope you have fun!
How cool it is when you relax on vacation with your family! how I like it! I've packed my bags and am already waiting for my vacation to go to Lake Tahoe/Vegas/LA.
Thank you so much! We really enjoyed the north shore near Hanalei/Princeville. Everything is so green and lush. Our favorite coffee/açaí spot was Wishing Well coffee shop, which is not too far from Hanalei bay
Very cold! And you don’t always get a lot of sunlight due to the height of the canyon walls. But if you go in summer, you get used to the water pretty fast and it feels so refreshing!
The cool thing about the narrows is that it is 16 miles long! You go as far as you want (however you may need a permit for the last few miles). We went a little over 2 miles in + 2 miles back + the 1-mile river walk to get to the start of the narrows, there and back. In total, we did about 6 miles.
Hey thank you so much! Really appreciate it! It was actually just my IPhone 13; we are new to this so still learning ahah. I recently got a GoPro 11 that I used to film on our second trip to Kauai. Going to be posting that video soon!
We were in Kauai in June and it was the best place we’ve ever been. We watched the canoe races and then went to wishing well it was so fun. I can’t wait to go back.
Thank you so much for watching! If you are new here and want to see more videos of national parks, MLB parks, and other places we have visited, please subscribe as we are almost at 100 subs. Thanks!
Pretty cool to see nearly 13k views on our little amateur video. Really appreciate all the nice comments/likes. If you are new here, please subscribe as we are trying to get to 100 subs and we have many more videos coming soon! Thank you!
So well done! You captured so many great moments. And you did it without cloying pretentiousness. Editing and music are perfect, and you convey that you’re a likable happy couple.
