Don’t understand the modern Beach Boys obsession with giving this song a prominent guitar solo when there’s maybe one guitar part in the original song. Really don’t understand modern Beach Boys’ obsession with all the guitars in the first place. This is still a great rendition of it though.
Thanks for sharing this list. I checked out the video for George's "This Is Love", and am amazed I'd never heard it. It definitely deserved to be HUGE. As a lifelong Beatles fan (born in 1960), it's awesome to hear something "new" from any/all/one of them.
Yeah, I didn't get into the nylon curtain for a few years after. I was only 8 when it came out but my parents had it on vinyl. I listened to the stranger and 52nd st all the time though
@@TonysMusic1974 When "The Nylon Curtain" album came out, the US still allowed parallel import albums, so I chose to spend more on the Japanese high quality import pressing of that album as I could tell it was heavy; it had extra pages inside. I think the only time my father listened to rock and roll was when he drove me to Electric Light Orchestra and Fleetwood Mac shows; my mom never did. Yes I know those earlier hit albums and most of his. Whenever "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)" was on the radio, I'd listen to the end to see if it was the version with the moving out sound effects or without them. The radio even played "Stiletto" sometimes, but I never saw it on a compilation.
Howard Kaylan retired from performing several years ago for health reasons. This is Ron Dante, who was the lead singer of the Archies ("Sugar Sugar") and who also produced Barry Manilow's first five albums
2022 was the last year that Brian Wilson toured with this full band Al Jardine Blondie Chapman David Marx. He was really starting to experience the early stages of dementia here you can watch a lot of his RU-vid clips of him with the band and see that he barely was singing stop singing in the middle of a song and looked very distressed, sad news
The deadest audience have seen in a long time..how can you not get up for that song, Live and in Person? Back to sleep now. Wow. Bass player plays for Tommy James too.
Bill, the average age in that audience was at least 70. There wasn't going to be a mosh pit. The crowd was into the whole show. Also that band (including the bass player) play for every group that does the happy together tour and their occasional solo shows
Jim yester still performs with them but didn't on that night. Larry Ramos has been in the group for years and jordan Cole is the son of original member Brian Cole. What can I tell ya. People get old. At least it's not the Grass Roots with no original members and no connection to the band at all
It really sucked. George would never have agreed to this, and Lennon had no choice about his songs being used, by former band mates claiming to be The Beatles. Not the Beatles.
The guitar player was a student of John Petrucci. I have some of their original stuff on my channel too. It's quite good. Look for "peacemaker" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2YXGCjKVoZ8.htmlsi=pP_3F7CIZz__ktMy

@@TonysMusic1974 - Thanks for the information. I am now retired and find it funny how suddenly I’ve taken an interest of not only this era but of this group, the Turtles. I suddenly realized that the people that made much of this music, the background music of my youth, are starting to drop like flies. I loved Kaylan and the Turtles but wondered if most of that wasn’t just nostalgia …or if they were simply JUST THAT GOOD. Several weeks ago I stood in a store that’s now selling vinyl record albums again (never thought that would happen) when I saw a young man (maybe 23 years old) with a copy of the Turtles “Happy Together” album. I asked him if he was really a fan or was this just a gift for his grandfather. I told him that I worried that my admiration for this group (and others) was that they were just that good…or, if not just mere nostalgia. He smiled and said “Oh, no…THEY WERE THAT GOOD! They were VERY good!” I felt strangely vindicated! Even the kids like this old music! How very cool is that?
