Fabulous Keith. The first and the last, I believe I have both myself stashed away in boxes somewhere. I loved the sound of the knurled wheels on the Super 4 track. Regards, David.
Thanks David. Both fairly recent addition and both required a lot of work bit now running and looking good. I'm a real fan of these loco when they are sorted and love the sound!
Thanks Rob. Glad you enjoy them. I like the TC series and I'll do some more videos featuring these items. How about double headed double ended green/yelliw electrics!
In answer to your question - Yes! Models, even spares or repairs, are being listed for way too much nowadays. I remember in 2010 i bought a spare power bogie, 2 wagons (boxed) and an X04 for £8 on ebay. Now the equivalent is over £50. The same happens in model shops, all the prices of new models have become ridiculous and pre owned is on the rise too. Model fairs where wagons used to be £1 ask far too much now, at least there you can heckle. As a late teen i find that new models are well over my budget and i love the older, repairable models more anyway so seeing their prices rise really shows how exclusive the hobby is Great to see someone offered a good price on gumtree and what a lovely set up it is
Hi William. I think this set was a steal. I have been back in the hobby about 5 years generally getting stuff on eBay or at auctions. It is not easy to find bargains and I have definitely noticed some increases in that time. Spares can be very expensive and I prefer to buy damaged items and break for parts. All my models are from late 50s to late 70s and simple to fix and last forever. Best of luck bargain hunting.
Hello Keith. To answer your question, yes, the hobby has become too expensive. With vendors at exhibitions now wanting £30.00 or more for a single coach from the 1980`s it is crazy. That said, there are some great bargains out there if you just happen upon them as you did with this set. You did very well. David.
Hi David. You have to be quick to grab a bargain. I will do another video on a recent bargain which actually ended up costing me nothing but that was more luck than judgement. Sometimes buying job lots can work out very well but you have the hassle of disposing of the items you don't want. Happy bargain hunting.
Hello Keith, The green double ended electric is a dream loco for me as was the CN Budd RDC until recently when I acquired one. Good to see your layout and some more of your collection.
Hi David. Glad you liked it. The CN Budd is a new addition and is a sweet runner. The double ended electric is also a great runner and is one of my fav locos from the early 60s in two tone green.
Hello Keith. I have a plastic bodied Hornby Dublo R1, a lovely little loco but I think yours runs smoother. I absolutely love the 8F, gorgeous. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Very nice Keith. Your layout runs so smooth and you have such a good selection of rolling stock and accessories. Always enjoyable to watch. Merry Christmas to you. David.
