What happened to the Wilhelm Gustloff? That one had over 9,000 deaths, but it's not as infamous as it sank during WWII. At the time, the Holocaust and other things were getting all the attention.
The Wilhelm Gustloff was hit by three Russian torpedoes on the night of January 30, 1945. Here is a brief summary. In January 1945, the German command initiated Operation Hannibal, which was to evacuate both civilians and military personnel from northern Poland (the Red Army had encircled that area, so, the only escape was by sea) The most available ships happened to be passenger ships. Someone made the decision to have deck guns put on the Gustloff. When the captain of the submarine saw this large ship armed with deck guns, he believed it was a military ship
First Airplane I ever flew on was a United 737-200. CLE-EWR. I was around 12 years old flying by myself. (1982). Had a window seat right behind the wing. When those reverse buckets dropped behind the engine, I thought the plane was falling apart!!! LOL!! My Second airplane, was a PEOPLExpress 727. One of my most favorite planes EVER!! The 757 and the Dornier J328 round out my top 3! My only widebody experience was a 767-200/300. And I worked as an FA on the EMB 170/75 for 10 years!
Aerolineas Argentinas flights AR1140 and AR1141 Rome to EZE and vice versa, on average flight is 14 or 15 but sometimes on some circumstances, the flight can last up to 16 hours!! Imagine 16 hours on an A330!!!
Whoever sloppily put together this video clip left out the Dec 15, 1967 collapse of the Silver Bridge over the Ohio River near rush hour when it collapsed in 46 seconds killing 46 people. Silly to leave it out as it remains to this day "the worst road bridge disaster in US history," evidently a fact overlooked by these amateurs. The bridge carried US 35 (the main north/south artery at the time) joining the major cities of the Midwest to the resorts of the Southeast like Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, Ocean Isle and others. Books have been written about it, and every Dec. 15 for the past 56 years folks have gathered at the former entrance to the bridge approach in Point Pleasant, WV to remember the 46 who died that night just doing normal things like going to area ball games, Christmas shopping, buying Christmas trees, dining out at restaurants on the Ohio side of the river. The ultimate tragedy compounded by your omission of the event here.

The runway at Inishmore was originally a grass strip on one of the few grassy places near the town, hence the short length.. The Britten-Norman Islander aircraft serving this place had no difficulty landing there, but the passengers and their baggage had to be weighed before boarding, much to everyone's amusement.
Who did Stalin airbrush out of the photo and why? You gave a good explanation of the soviet soldier who "could have had" 2 watches. Then zero explanation of the guy who disappeared from the picture with stalin. Just like modern media
Nikolai Yezhov was an NKVD (secret police) official who fell out favor with Stalin after doing his dirty work for years. He’s on Stalin’s left, and Molotov is on his right. There are a couple of versions of this shot, and who’s in it and where they’re standing depended on how Stalin felt about them at a given time.
Its laughable the outdated rubbish the ruskis use thinking its 'scary' to the West - who just laugh at it. Vastly outdated by the B52 and B1 & B2 bombers they are now mere dinosaurs in the sky.
Having spoken to a few pilots and navs who served on RAF QRA Lighntings and Phantoms, the thinking about defensive guns on the Bear (and Badger) was that the presence of bomber gun defence meant it negated the idea of intercepting fighters engaging with guns themselves. Of course, if it actually came to a shooting war fighters would destroy a large bomber with a missile, (these days from beyond visual range), but...the presence of defensive guns means it has to be a missile engagement to have the upper hand.
There used to be an international flight that only took about 10 minutes, Dhahran International Airport in Saudi to Manama International in Bahrain, then they closed Dhahran International and moved the flights to the newer Dammam International and the flight time increased to roughly 38 minutes.
Chris Kyle was a fraud t was discovered he exaggerated his kill count, and killed civilians because he believe "Arabs were animals'' as told by his fellow seals.... His karma was fast and swift
I have more respect for a horserace cheater than for a genuine horserace winner, because that whole sport is unfair to the poor horses, totally unnecessary for all parties involved, and also just one of the *boringest* sports ever invented.
