@@lyntedrockley7295 Helps with intonation on the lower notes which are normally quite sharp. Can also help produce a darker sound in the low register if that's what you're aiming for.

If more people played this piece with this kind of expression, variety, energy, contrast, etc. (and I mean that regarding both players here), it might not come across the way I usually hear it, as a mindless, undistinguished display of pyrotechnics.
