After 25 years of documenting the Atlanta Midtown GLBT community on video, Jody's Midtown Madness Atlanta is my gift to the Atlanta Ga. Gay community and friends. Special thanks to Madonna....because of my work with you, I have been able to raise over a million dollars for people with HIV and Aids! Thank you for watching. When our community was struck by Hiv/ Aids. The Drag queens and female impersonators raised the first dollar to help out our sick family and friends. To this day they are still raising money. I salute them and thank them for all their selfless work and time! United we stood as a FAMILY and healed our own community, while fighting the Bible Belt! The Christians fought us and lost! WE STOOD TALL AND PROUD!
Carmella Marcella Garcia and Charlie Brown are two of the best queens to ever grace any stage. The Bluegrass State of Kentucky certainly knows how to produce the best queens!
Definitely lost a Gem from the Atlanta community I worked by side this individual, never a harsh word spoken ever, or complaints, such a kindred spirit they both were Lisa King I admired as a young entertainer fly high both our queens!
Hi Jody, I miss Amber so much. I used to travel to pageants with her and do her hair and makeup sometimes. She was always smart, savvy, and shrewd about her craft! Thank you for this video! I miss so many of our entertainers who have passed on. I feel lucky to have really known so many from so many places!
Amber was the first Trans woman I ever met in Asheville NC, she was so beautiful and so sweet to me. I was lucky enough to get to see her perform in Atlanta several more times over the years and I was just devastated to hear of her passing. Thank you for being so wonderful to me Amber, I will never forget you.. RIP Goddess xoxox
The Broadview Plaza Kmart was frequented by many celebrities. I used to run into Diamond Lil there shopping and holding court for her fans. Never knew who would run into there or Cloth World, which was another favorite
I will never forget Backstreet in Atlanta! I drove to Atlanta by myself because I was sick and tired of practically begging my so-called friends to go with me. They kept stalling because they were hoping I would pay their way. I stayed two nights in Atlanta but I didn't know of any nightclubs, so I started asking around. I ended up at Backstreet and I had a great time! I could hardly believe they stayed open all night. In North Carolina, clubs have to close at 2am on the dot. I even bought a T-shirt that has the Backstreet logo.
This was a calm performance for Racine I remember seeing her in Pensacola. She did I'm so excited she was doing back flips off the wall into the splits It was shocking .
