10:10 As a Swede, that's AAA stuff there. In the US, things go fast but it costs allot if you don't have insurance. In Sweden, you can easily end up waiting months for an appointment or follow up, it might seem much cheaper but you pay with high taxes for that "privilege"..
u da rock* by applying the traditional & most common local way of removing the grasses w/ engine trimmer! Interested to know why u not using blades not chose to use nylon cutters instead? btw, i found the new electric trimmer very expensive so I'm sticking to mixed fuel type too. Cheers
"One guy fixes arcade machines" That's quite interesting, been planning to learn about electronics so I can both fix and build my own arcade machines and pinball games. I was just old enough to start going to arcades when the scene for that died here in Sweden, back in the late 90s/early 2000's so it's sort of a thing ive never really gotten to experience. It would be really hard for me to say no if that dude wanted an apprentice, id jump through hoops to get the chance to learn from someone like him..
Tedious indeed. But that's real life ain't it! Ps Are your cafe hours on Google accurate? Currently traveling through Japan and encountered many innacuracies. Plan to come by next weekend
I find 1.5 to 2m a nice distance , I have no desire to sampling someone's mouth wash 😁. At least it isn't nearly as extreme as the Finns. There's loads of jokes about how Finns prefer 1km between each other when talking.
Cool tip on the difference between the strimmer blade type (like your wife was using) and the cord type. Was wondering why you used that on your field instead of a blade … 👍🏻
Sounds like they would hate Arne Anka, an infamous Swedish raunchy parody that was "inspired" by Donald Duck, I personally love it but i'm Swedish to I think that helps..
If I were to name any future kitties, would end up taking some name from my favourite anime Hokuto No Ken (Used to have a white kitty, I named him after the character Toki)..
4:01 A bit more than 20 years ago, would hold gaming weekends with my friends. One of the best parts was when we would head off to the nearby pizzeria's to eat. Since we were up to around 80 during those weekends, we sometimes had groups of 10 to 20 people going to the pizzeria at once. Pretty sure the pizzeria's loved it, we gave them quite allot of business during those weekends.
11:14 I would love a good VOLVO, I think they would do well in Japan cause they were made for quite "rough conditions". Our climate in Sweden isn't car friendly, you can really notice it on some cars from mainland Europe (they don't fare so well, lots of rust and other problems)..
"seen a video of a guy who did that" Might be referring to Yohei, he bought a school in the mountain areas and turned it into a hostel/coffee roastery. Tokyo Lens Norm has made several vids on it, Yohei seems like a real awesome and chill dude, would totally drink his coffee. 34:34 KITTIES 🥰
Stellar effort, but with so much ground to cover, wouldn't a standing scythe be more effective? They are pretty inexpensive (50-100EUR) and cover a lot of ground with a swing.
3:26 "Corn and eggs on a pizza" Corn isn't that bad, think it's part of our weird Swedified Mexican pizza's, Egg is a bit weird but not that far out. One thing I do not approve of is banana on pizza, that's IMO worse than pineapple. If you want to be really horrified, google "swedish christmas pizzas", there's some quite "creative" takes on that..
@@RealRuralJapan That's one of the things I love with pizza, you can put pretty much whatever on it and it usually works (not always, the Gaki no tsukai guys discovered, they did an "experimental" pizza with a tuna fish head in one episode of Absolute tasty).
Lol ! Mate, you are like a real Japanese brush cutter/weed wacker dude. Instead of using a big ride on mower Australian style every few weeks. You doing the days on end routine. Americans have those stand on mowers for overgrown scrub. They would have mowed "the lot". Sorry 😞 Wife. You really have become Japanese in garden taming 😂👍😺 in this episode.
Is there a rehydration drink mix that is sold as affordable powder in Japan? some Pocari Sweat powder hahaha. Got me worrying about you barely being able to walk back up the hill. Also have you ever tried kudzu flowers or root starch? I've seen it growing in some of the videos. Eat the weeds and all that ;)
Yeah I can't work that out how some people live in Japan and winge like what you said when heaps of people would love the chance to live in Japan. Also,Seen many bears around Ur neck of the woods?
@@RealRuralJapan Yeah, I've often thought that when I've been painting 🎨at the Foothills in the mountains in Niigata. Because I've seen a few bear signs around, I just don't want to bear to jump out on me lol. When you get your cafe up and running I could always send you some oil paintings Cheers. Regards, Tez
5:32 Sounds a bit like how wizards of the coast did when choosing challenge ratings in Dungeons and Dragons, except they got drunk before doing so (this is a joke about how inconsistent challenge ratings are).
There are skanky ladies (& men) in every country, more so in poor countries where you have to be very careful as they see foreigners as a way to escape. The game is played in both directions, as many women as men play that game. I have always said it is tough to start a lasting relationship with a foreign person due to the power imbalance, you just cannot in many cases be sure of the sincerity of the relationship, so to tread very carefully and take things so very slow. Cheers.
8:14 Here in Sweden we call it "ordningsstörning" or "Störande av allmän ordning", it translates to disorderly conduct. 16:00 The consequences will never be the same
I'm curious as to how much people expect you to get involved in community related stuff, I don't mind being a part of a community but I dread the idea of being "forced" to spent hours and hours doing so just cause they have grown accustomed to it. Trying to piece together a good feel for if pursuing such a thing would be a good choice for me, don't want commit the typical error of not knowing what I am getting into. Those spam chips look hilarious, it feels like one of those things you buy once to try and then just use them again whenever you want to "inspire yourself" to go on a diet 😆
@@RealRuralJapan True, gotta get a feel for how life is there before committing to a purchase. Funny enough, some people do the same here in Sweden. It's not so much about the community that can become an issue, the issue is more the climate and weather patterns. One youtuber was really interested in getting a home in Sweden, people really urged them to rent first before buying. It might seem like it's really nice in one season, same place can be really unpleasant in another season..
i grew up in nz and australia and I just love bland food hehehe. I came to Japan for the first time this year and loved the simple dishes to be honest. A greek salad is way too much for me but in Japan I found a lot of dishes that made me happy. I like Japan just the way it is, even the takeaway like Wendys was brilliant I thought. Im amazed how horrible Red Rooster is in Australia. Will be really interesting to see how Japan changes in the coming decades. Gee I do miss Japan, I plan to visit every few years now.
It does appear to build and sustain community, but there is of course a cost to this. Japanese productivity is overall low, and it has contributed to the economy struggling to grow and leaving wages stagnant over the last few decades. If Japan is to get out of its stagnant period and grow the economy and wages, it will need to increase worker productivity and some of the customary ways of doing things will have to modernize. No more faxes, paper based systems, etc.
Lot of miserable lost people with money around the world but you don't see that as a cost because you are measuring in money. I understand your point but life isn't about money and economic growth.
A lot of America’s problems would be gradually solved by implementing stuff like that, but imagine how much belly aching you’d hear! (That might be worth it for the entertainment value)
Thanks a lot man. I really appreciate your videos. I'll never get to go to Japan so it's nice to be able to look around at the real place and have someone who knows what they're talking about guide you. Keep it up and good luck to you!!
I wonder if this is more due to an older population as they can be set in their manners of doing things or does it extend to the younger generation who have been brought up in a digital age? Change takes time, is that same mentality reside in the major cities where i would think it is a younger demographic who live in the hustle and bustle of a metropolis where time is a commodity in short supply. My in-laws were very much in the same vein however the younger generations embraced the speed of technology, i wonder if it is the same Japan.
Foreigners tend to only be able to see things through western eyes. Especially in Japan everything is done a certain way for a reason that is sometimes invisible to the western mindset. The worst thing to do is try to fight it. Simply accept it as the way its done and move on harmoniously.
The easy way is often the hardest. Their problems often start being lazy and buying a random house off the net because it looks good and it’s cheap. Most don’t want to do the time consuming real work of finding an area and checking it out properly before buying a house. I see it all the time and one thing I would like to change and make a difference to people. But it’s like hitting your head against a wall with many people they are too stubborn and lazy to what it’s best for themselves.
