Yes, it’s a solid machine. The majority of issues are created by aftermarket parts. Add a particle separator if you ride in dust, and keep an eye on the front driveline of your have a 2 seater. Everything else is solid on the machine.
David here. Thanks for this tool was pretty amason.I'm going by Harbor freight today and pick one up. Wondering if it'll work on the Steering ball joint also. Subbed
Do u have a video how to break apart the front end , cant get ball joints to release from the knuckle, is there a special tool to do this ? Anyhow FINNALY ! A video showing the tool to crimp the factory honda clamps I wasted $80 on a pex tool , thinking this would do the crimp , the jaws are just not big enough, but i still can use it on my camper plumbing. The oetiker sites are very vague and hard to find these tools If u have a good recommendation on a GOOD aftermarket axle , your help is greatly appreciated
@@davidsawmandave8731 hi! Thanks for watching. Here’s the video for the ball joints. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sKqlyRz1YkA.htmlsi=Rh3F7wvbI5Udjf8S Get the demon extreme axles. I have about 8k miles on them. No problems.
Hello, Are you interested in testing our products? We would like to invite you to test the Front Windshield for your Honda Talon 1000R ( if your car year is 2019-2022
I unbolted my front diff moved it forward enough for the front diveshaft to clear then pulled the trans put the bottom. Took me about an hour to do it. Just have the remove the 2 studs and it can come right out the bottom. Very easy.
@@gravesruim not against engine oil in the sub trans. There isn't anything hypoid in it. So it doesn't really need gear oil. I'll do that next oil change.

I have been thinking about a Pro R, can you do a video on it? I am totally in the same boat as you. Would you also recommend keeping a talon and a Pro R? Thanks, your videos are awesome!
Russell, i went the extreme metal products route on this one because the honda one was so expensive. I do have the oem glass windshield. I noticed the wiper motor mounts the same way. I now noticed that with the bracket between the plastic my windshield does not seal on the bottom like it did before. Did you have this problem?
When installing do the primary drive gear teeth slide all the way into the other gear? Like completely flush? I have about an 1/8in difference. I’ve tried about 15 times. Unless that front guide gear keeps falling out of one clutch plate .
So I watched this video and said "I can do that" So I did it and now im pulling my motor out of my talon. Without being able to at least plastigauge the rod bearings there is no way to ensure proper seating of the bearings. So i cooked a bearing is about 15 miles of driving my talon. I would HEAVILY advise if you are going to change pistons in one of these engines to remove it COMPLETELY from the Talon and build it on a bench. No measurement is accurate laying on your back on the garage floor. Pull the crank, measure the journals and install new bearings when you pull a rod. When you are talking about tolerances down to the ten thousanth for oil clearance you need to make 100% sure you have those right. Also that little crank closed ring compressor is garbage. If you are having an engine built and you see one of those run for your engines life. They never work right on performance engines with stainless rings. You want to use a Wiseco tapered compressor ring with NO seams. People fail to realize these are high performance engines. Especially when you are adding boost. Building it in chassis on the garage floor is unacceptable. When you go to get an engine you need to ask to see, piston rings, bore gauge measurements, journal measurements, oil clearance on the rod bearings. If they cant AT LEAST give you all of that, RUN.
That leak didnt fix itself. The oil level is low and stopped leaking out. Its a common situation on small diffs on bikes and buggies. If the seal goes it could have been a piece of dirt or if it keeps going the diff bearing is bad
The oil level is above the seal on virtually every diff. Its gota be 1/2 to 1/3 up the lowest rolling element and some of those diffs only hold 250mL just food for thought@@gravesru
The oil level is way below the seal on the Honda talon rear differential and it doesn’t leak at all. I have 20,000 miles in a talon and I’ve worked on many of them. So my opinion is off of actual experience with the talon, especially for the review video. The talon diff is not like every other diff out there.
The oil level has to be touching the lowest rolling element in the bearings on every single diff on planet earth im not trying to argue just warning ive rebuilt diffs and replaced them becase people think it fixed itsrlf lol @@gravesru
@@brapbrapmafucka well, you’re wrong. Pull a Honda talon rear differential and see for yourself. It only holds 3.4 oz and it’s below the rear seal. The utv diff is not like the majority of diffs out there. You made a comment that was not true by saying it didn’t stop leaking, it ran low on oil. You have no idea, you’re making assumptions because you think you know when you don’t. That’s just a fact. I have the diff in my possession and know about it and the oil level and you just don’t. You’re making comments that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Surely one can get away with slow driving and maneuvering on concrete or asphalt… like in a driveway/garage scenario right?? I still have the light stock tires and wheels. After I wash my unit I may also take it on a quarter mile zip in the neighborhood just to dry it off. I appreciate the video
Yes, for sure. You just want to minimize time on the asphalt. It just puts a lot of strain on the axles and rear differential when turning right or left because one tire will have to spin on the asphalt. If I have to drive on asphalt, I try to put one tire in the gravel on corners when possible.
@@RippleBoobs they made a couple changes in 2023. They shortened the wheelbase on the R models, so the front A arms are different. They also changed the grill and moved the speedometer to the steering column. Powertrain is the same.
ok thx i am in canada and the R is not available so sound good they did not change anything big and i was looking for the yamaha 2016 yzx whit manual trany but it look very brutal compare to a talon @@gravesru
