Moving into a house is the end of happily ever after, right? Not hardly.
We had spent nearly 20 years in our last house constantly doing things to make it our dream home. Starting over in a new house, we realized that there are always things to do, no matter how new the house. We figured other people were in the same boat. So now what? To make a house a home is hard work and requires constant attention.
We decided we wanted to create a RU-vid channel we would want to watch. Want to learn about taking care of a yard and garden in Utah? Or maybe you'd like to know how to make your house smart one device at a time? We even get into design and decorating. Let's not forget building things for your house.
Those black specks are actually seeds, not worm poo. It's only because petunias are so sticky that they don't just fall off. I watch a video a few days ago abt petunias.
We pruned our petunias back and sprayed with Dawn Dish soap and water mixture. It works and my petunias are beautiful. 5 weeks and no Bud Worms. Dawn Dish soap and water spray the plants. Remember prun back your plants then spray.
My hands hurt just watching him move the slabs around with bare hands. Nice natural look. I know you guys are going to work your magic and make it pretty!
Life does get in the way. I decided not to do early seeds this year. Your stone garden beds look amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing it full of life. 😍
Hi! We're working on a pruning video that we'll post soon but in the meantime, you can catch up on the progress in these two videos! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gpI0PHwfwno.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0_Vyhn0rBdc.html Thanks for checking in with us!
My apples and pear espalier are in their first spring/summer after planting them in late winter. The first tier is growing well. Its now mid summer. I have some branch growth coming off the two trained laterals and some off the central leader. Should I be summer pruning in the first year on my first tier laterals? Is mid summer too late for that? I have one pear which has produced a few laterals off the central leader at a tier two height. Should I train those now or is it best to cut the central leader back in winter to start the next tier from fresh? Thanks
Hi there! We aren't experts but we would recommend waiting to do a first prune in winter after your trees have had a chance to establish a little longer. When you do prune in the summer, mid summer is a great time.
Thanks for the comment. We have had a great time training up our little espalier orchard. We did the planting, training, and some intitial prunining. We will do more as we prune and harvest.
That would have been the logical course of action. Had I to do it again, that would be the start. We do have some challenges with where we live dumping material on the street or drive way. But hey, live and learn.
As long as you're happy with it that's all that matters, good fun for the kids and family! Good Video for the novice thinking about buying a used Pool Table, always remember "You get what you Pay for". I would have had the rubber replaced on the cushions regardless of how well they played, with the table being 50 years old you don't know when or if the rubber was ever replaced and it will eventually go bad and you will have dead spots in the cushions where the balls don't bounce off of it properly!! I have over 50 years experience with playing Pool and dealing with Pool Tables and I'm rated an "8" at my local Pool Room.
I like your thumbnail--please show video of that. I want to see the entire beautiful garden you guys created. Maybe take a few steps back to show the whole beautiful inspiring picture. Nice work!
At the moment, all the plants have been removed and the beds cleaned out. Only bad thing about the season end. We'll make sure to get some more holistic as we start next year.
Your video is the only one that comes up when I search weed fabric and paver base. It's exactly what I want to do for under a pergola. It's the easiest simplest solution I think. I read that gravel should go under it but I'd rather skip that since I'm not doing pavers. I am curious how yours is holding up.
It's holding up really well.Did you look at our completion of the garden boxes or the bad audio tour at the end of the summer (2023)? You can get a better look after a year. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-45McYeM3Cyc.htmlsi=Y-kgnAES81He0SSm
I live in the UK and look on marketplace regularly. You see Pool and Snooker tables for sale but I've seen people giving them away! I mean, not many people can dismantle, move and reassemble a Snooker table, let alone have space for it.
True that. We were lucky enough for the space, and I was too dumb to know otherwise about what it would take to do the disassembly and reassembly. Still, in the end it worked out. Hope you can fine a Snooker table that will work for you. Good luck.
I got a 7 foot All-tech Industries table for free so I put Simonas 860 on the single slate and I went from a 3 to a 5 in 2 sessions before going to Vegas in Aug 2023. Ain't no such thing as a free puppy. $700 after felt and it rolls perfectly straight.
What kind of cloth did you put on? Although I love pool, I could never deal with all that. Even a 6-foot table is too heavy. I have an old 3 x 4 bumper pool table that needs rehab--that will be my next DIY project.
Wished I could tell you exactly the cloth type. Repair guy showed up, pulled out a sample book, and we pointed at the one we liked. Good luck with the DIY part. After looking at what it would have taken here, I said no way to myself.
I have always planted petunias every year, and I never had to deal with budworms, after doing alot of research, I learned what was doing the damage and how to get rid of them. I used captain Jack's ready to use neem oil, it seemed to work pretty good, but after doing more research, I found out about captain jack's
Don't think I'm understanding the comment. We certainly wouldn't suggest putting weed barrier in mud or swampy areas. This area does get rain, but it is not a naturally wet area.
Hi sorry for the delayed response! It worked a bit but I think we waited too long to start the treatment necause it was hard to keep up with the budworm damage! It is safe for petunias just make sure you start treatment at the FIRST sign of damage and you should be good to go! we're going to try again next year and hopefully have better success!
Hey Thomas. I'm working through some of these things myself. Tell me, when you say automation, are you talking about a scene? Like when I created the scene with the Christmas tree? Or are you talking about something like an automation when the sun goes down the light comes on? If it is the latter, you'll need to use short cuts. In which case, there is a guy named Shane Whatley who has a few solid videos about creating short cut automations. I haven't really done anything with those yet, other than telling my phone "Lumos" to turn on the flashlight. Having said all that, I will be doing one and creating a video in a month or two around ceiling fans turning off and on depending on room temperature.
Oh you're right! We're so sorry we dropped the ball! We'll address it in an upcoming video but for now, it did help, but it was definitely a lot of work! It might have been a little more challenging because the petunias don't get full sun so they may have been struggling more than they should have because of that. Thank you for asking....we'll work to do a better job of follow up!
I hate the optimized charging limit I put my watch on charger every night before bed and when I wake up it’s never fully charged it stops at 79-80% I wake up at 5 every weekday morning and put watch on so i can keep track of time as I’m getting ready for work I get up later when I’m off so I expect it to be fully charged during the work week they should have had a feature so it fully charges on the days u choose it’s annoying when you only have 79% charge when u get up and down to 40% by the time you get home even when you have display off during the day and only touch watch to check time or messages
Sooo you can’t turn off Battery Optimization? I leave it off on my phone cause i noticed it drains battery. Also when going to bed turning off bluetooth, and WiFi battery doesn’t drain at all. It isn’t constantly looking for a connection and it isn’t trying to keep the battery optimized
Yes you got a real bargain at $300. But how much was it really in total by the time you paid Howard to reassemble it? Plus the wait to actually have it playable again. Loved the video.
Yeah, it was a bit of a hassle from beginning to end. To answer your questions, I gave my buddy who provided the truck, trailer, and manpower about $300. Howard was about $1k. So in the end it was over $1,500. I still think it was worth it, because we got a solid nice table.
I got my pool table for $1000 and was gonna pay professional to install it for $900 but after watching your video I gained confidence to DIY it. And dang everything went nice and smooth.
I live in Florida..I put that weed barrier all under my raised garden beds..I tried what everyone said, to clear out the grass and just place on top..there was soooo much grass up through the beds. I had to take all that dirt out and re do it all. It sucked. Took over 2 months.
ive just bought a 2nd hand table, the table was 25ish years old, only a small 6ft one, flat and frame is great, we took the slate out before moving it, wasn't too bad only about an inch thick, my self and dad moved that, your lucky if yours was 3 in 3 sections. Ive had to recover it, some great vids on how to do that online, deffo worth giving it a go your self as much cheaper, the fabric cost me £45 ($53) Ive just got to level it out now its off by a couple of CM (at most) very very slight roll to top corner. we've also had to replace the coin mech as it doesnt take the new coins.
Glad you were able to find one that worked out for you. I think it would be cool to have the coin operated part. Did it come out of a pub? I too had looked at just doing the felt myself, but man, I'm glad I didn't. Don't think I would have had the patience.
Thanks for the suggestion. So far no problems with the switch. I do have a handful of the smart plugs. On the plugs, I do have them drop occasionally, which is a hassle. I'd say once a month. I'm hoping as more of these are thread enabled that will end, and I'll replace the non thread devices.
@@thelittleredcottage Kasa appears to make good switches and outlets (from my experience). Their lights are pretty good too. I have found that Govee makes some good quality light bulbs and strips. Another tip is stay away from Philips Hue. They are WAY overpriced.
Bro... You can push those landscape staples in with your hands if you had gloves. (Man up) gardening gloves. And a straight edge box cutter razor blades cuts the weed barrier much faster much easier effortless than a pair of scissors. SMH.
So cool you picked up those Homepods. I was lucky enough to buy 4 brand new ones before they ran out of stock everywhere. They are amazing for music and watching movies. I have one in my kitchen, bedroom and a pair for my home theater. Some people where over critical saying they are not good smart speakers. That's not really their purpose. My favorite thing to do is answer my phone calls hands free.
I agree. I think they're awesome. Now just to get the right TV and cabinet to match. Glad you were smarter than me and got them when they were a couple hundred each.
One of the things I read and watched about these plugs was that they frequently dropped off the network and stopped responding. Funny thing, the day before we took down the tree, it stopped responding. Even then, I didn't have to reset it, just turned it off and on. In short, the plug worked perfectly on and off several times a day for the whole Holiday season. Now I need to find a place to repurpose the plug until next year.
