Seems to be some arm chair critic, who can always do things better out there always, sometimes u work within limits out of our control, lots of luck dealing with those type i couldnt without fists flying.snooky pa.
Glad you made it back from the sky,i too have no faith in those pulse pumps.it just seems to me a lame way of providing a constant reliable flow over time.my snowmachine had same issue with a round pump mikuni and that didnt work also i believe loss of pulse pressure from crank of all places the compression was low 110pto side n 115 mag side.when i put a clicky clack 4pnd electric pump on it runs fine even with said low psi.upon inspect.of old pump, same as ur issue no tears or cracks plastics looked flexable.in your case flying an ultralight i would opt for a electric mech.vane pump hooked to a flow gauge.that way you know if pressures dropping time to get outa sky.plus a small light showing power to pump to let u know its active.too bad there isnt a primer button or hand pump backup like the ole water types or like hydrualic hand pumps for landing gear locks.just enough to maybe keep engine n plane back to airport or field.good luck on ur fix,i would just ditch the mikuni try for better type pump such as elect.yes i know pulse pumps have run forever no trouble like a heart, but to me its a weak liability with no backup warning, such as heart attack pain,or struggling n sweats.!!mikuni just dies,no warning.must be better system out there.can i hear clear prop!!!jimmys world!!!snooky pa.💥👍💥
Working on a fuel pump, on a picnic bench full of bird crap wondering why. Working habits as well as our environmental surroundings whether flying or performing maintenance, are great indicators of just how serious we are about what we do, and how well we do it.
RP, I was inspecting a fuel pump that I did not intent to reinstall. If you have some bright ideas how to keep bird crap off a table in a pole barn that you just rent space in, I’d love to hear them. I now have a very well running and well maintained aircraft, and yes, the table is still full of bird shit.
I always use the BIGGER see through fuel filters. Especially with fiberglass fuel tanks. Its harder for them to plug. Ask me how i know. Nice work Sir! Great videos. And those flaps on the hawk are HUUUGE! I agree with no ethanol fuel. Why put that deteriation time bomb in your fuel tank.
So, I'm not worried about the fluid going in, I'm worried about what's on the nozzle or the gas can! I have no idea of how many Lbs. I've put through my push mower from dirty gas gas cans! But, for the CEO of Dark Magix Aerospace, LLC.- you could've spent the whole $0.57c on a paper in-line filter at Pep Boiz, Mark! Jes lookin' at that Keurig coffee strainer wasn't giving me a super positive feeling, then under close up, it was falling apart!
Yes, I watched LSA's interview with you and searched out your channel! I dream in Sonex Xenos, Pipistrel Virus Flex and motorglider colors- efficiency is what got me 'hangin' wif da Sonex Builders crowd'. Now, I'm struggling with VW vs. UL vs. Aeromomentum (all under 200#'s FWF).
Went to a WIX filter from Aircraft Spruce. Didn’t have time to fly it again before putting it to bed for the winter though. Dark Magix Aerospace - I like it! Maybe the next LLC will have to bear that name! 🤫
@@hawkinitwithmark8110 Oh MY! I've been dying to congratulate you on acquiring the assets of Sonex Aircraft, LLC from John- but, had no idea of how to get it to you within the 1,000's of text's, emails & calls you've been receiving! Super excited for you, wish you success from day 1, and do solemnly volunteer to do whatever you need to ensure success at this years 1 week wonder. So, if you need an extra set of hands Boss- just give me some warning- and, I'll be there! I'm so glad that you DID IT! and know that you'll love/hate it (mostly love though!) some days. You have a ton of 'regular guys' like me (57, father of 4, homeowner, job holder, tax payer...) wishing you the very best. I think it matters that you have the support of people- you do. Just wanted you to have that knowledge, in case you have to tap into it while under the gun sometime. Hope that your wife is as thrilled (nervous, slightly scared, hopeful & a dozen other emotions- all at the same time!) as you, and know that you have some outstanding people in your group. Fingers crossed- it's gonna be quite the ride! Can't wait, would love to participate in a meaningful way- but send you the highest & best prayers for your success. Daily! So glad you took a minute, saw my silly post & let me know... Good on Ya, Mark!!! P.S. This made my day, been trying to figure out a way to share my enthsiasm with you!
@@DCGULL01 THANK YOU David! This message helped to make my day as-well. Regarding One Week Wonder, stay tuned for opportunities to submit your availability to volunteer on our web site and on EAA’s web site. If you don’t have building experience, I would still encourage you to volunteer as an Ambassador through EAA. Ambassadors talk to the crowd as they watch the build, answer their questions and help them pull and sign a rivet on the project.
@@hawkinitwithmark8110 - The message sent was NOT work related, Mark! (You are truly the consummate professional!) Of course I'll make my application when I see it on the website! Turn off the CEO on Sunday, and just giggle that wannabe pilot & airplane owners are in your corner! That's what it's all about, my friend! That's how it was meant & sent! I get to be the ambassador to the "Man on the Street" & I hope you knocked out of your chair by my enthusiasm for your action! (Obviously, my excited, run together words didn't ACTUALLY come through your YT video comment section- duh!) Hahaha- enjoy your Sunday!
For this engine is very important use only Castrol TTS blue (years 90) and spark plug NGK b8 es ( if I remember well) and well calibration of electrodes. Bye
Today is the 4 the October 2021 and I can see your video of the rotax 447. I fling with this engine for many years .is an indestructible engine! Never problem. The best engine of the rotax. Only few power.
Yes. Plastic Azusa Lite wheels do not have a good mate of the wheel halves at the seam like the aluminum Azusa wheels do -- mine don't, at-least. There was cardboard in there originally and it caused no problems, so I kept them as some cheap insurance against pinching a tube.
Jack, I'm honored to have you as a subscriber! I fly out of Wilke field in Omro. It's private and not listed on the charts. It was founded by Glen Wilke who is now deceased, and his son, Steve Wilke owns it. This used to be the home of the Oshkosh Ultralight Chapter. Timm Bogenhagen used to have his aircraft at Wilke and can probably tell you more about Glen and the history of the field than I can.
Fifty's Nifty! The airplane does everything at 50-55 mph. Stall depends upon how much you weigh, of course and whether you have flaps in. I usually try to climb-out at 55, but I need to run a series of Vx/Vy tests to determine where I should really be. To my understanding, Vne is supposed to be 100 mph (or when your curved windshield gets pushed flat according to some). My ASI doesn't go up that high so I have the red tape at 80 mph (the highest number on my gauge) and I have no interest in going that fast in my Hawk. Yellow arc on my aircraft coincidentally begins at the Part 103 speed limit and I like to fly at or below. With doors off I like to cruise about 50-55 just to make it a more pleasant experience. With the doors on I typically cruise at 60 mph.
@@tommurrell6146 Running a 447 and I try not to land with power because I want to be able to make the runway if the power quits! Also, I find that my EGT's get pretty high at low-to-mid range power settings. Also keep in-mind that I'm still feeling kinda rusty. I was flying the aircraft better last summer before my engine out. Need a few more hours to get the muscle memory back and fly the pattern better. The approach to my strip landing to the East shown in this video is a little non-standard as I try to buttonhook around a farmhouse abeam the threshold to avoid over-flying it. Gotta try to keep the neighbors happy or the airport owner gets unhappy and lets us know about!
Now I have to take the wings off! 😥 discovered after my second flight that some wing gusset rivet heads had popped off. I don’t know if it happened during the forced landing, or loading it on the trailer to get out of the cornfield, or if it had been that way for years. Can’t believe I didn’t spot it before, but now I have to take the sails off both wings and inspect them.
