Hello! Really nice redesign! I just wanted to inform you that (unless you are black yourself, which I am unsure of), most black people prefer “dreadlocks” are called “locs” given the history of the term dreadlocks being used in a derogatory way towards black ppl Again, really nice redesign, it’s way better than the previous one and the colors flow a lot better ^_^
Okay, so after watching the whole video a couple times... yikes. You didn't even say what the problem with the previous design was. "Poor phrasing," um yeah, you straight up said dreads were nasty and unkempt. I know you were referring to hippies and stuff, but it still is a negative connotation attached to the hairstyle, regardless of whether or not it is worn by POC, white, whoever. The problem isn't that dreadlocks don't fit her. It's the stereotyping. It's the way you speak about these aspects of her all because of her hair style. "She likes maintaining her hair, and keeping it soft and silky and smooth," as if dreads aren't maintained? On top of all that, you also mention she smokes weed, which is also a huge stereotype when it comes to people with dreadlocks. Nothing wrong with her smoking the zaza, it just gives off an icky vibe when combined with how you were speaking about everything else. I'm sorry, but this just comes across as very disingenuous as an apology. You say you want to hear people's feedback so you can grow, but once somebody brings up the cultural ties and stereotypes behind the first design, you get very defensive. I get it, I am also very defensive and sensitive to criticism/feedback. But that does not mean I stick my fingers in my ears and pretend that I am not the one at fault for poor decisions. This isn't meant to be cruel or as an attack against you as a person, I just believe you aren't really listening to POC's feedback, which is who you should be consulting for these design choices if you REALLYYY want to use them properly, without offending people. This isn't even bringing up the problem with not listening to multiple lesbians voicing concerns about the erasure with Applejack. Love the new design, btw. I really like the colors, and her eyes.
I didn't say anything negative in this video, I was actually incredibly polite the whole time,, dreads just weren't for her. I never brought up dreads in a POC context, that has been forced on to me by commenters like you. I had only ever referred to white people hippie dreads, which end up nasty and unkept because that specific type of person doesn't know how to maintain the hairstyle. Never ever said anything about the hairstyle in relation to POC or the general style. Nothing I can say at this point will make any of you feel better- and if I were a different person, a different artist, getting comments like this might make me want to stop trying to include diversity in my designs. Because honest to god that's what it feels like you guys want. And once again, you guys as commenters- are the only people bringing up a link between dreadlocks and weed. The whole point of saying "we already have a character with dreadlocks that smokes weed" was to say that my idea was redundant. But please,, keep insisting that I'm enforcing a racist stereotype, it makes you guys look like fools. 🤡 Yes I got defensive in the comments, oh no. It's almost like when people are trying to make me look bad I want to defend myself? If I made you uncomfortable, my bad, genuinely. However You guys just keep coming up with reasons to shit down my throat and I'm really tired of it. I will not be defending myself any further on this subject in this comment section. I know who I am, I know the true intentions behind my words- I no longer need your validation. But please keep leaving comments about it, only helps my career 💖
I like this new design, I also like the old one. I looked back on the old redesign video to relisten to what you said, and I agree that- wasn't the best thing to say. And I think it's really cool that you're acknowledging it, however I think it'd be better if you actually talk about what you specifically said, even if you say it was just poor phrasing, it's still a harm misconception that hurts black people with locs. Even if directed at white people with locs/matts, it's still a stereotype that ends up hurting black people by saying that the hairstyle is dirty. I don't mean to say this like you're now this unforgiveable person, I just think it'd be better to actually say what you misspoke about so the views who also don't know a lot about the culture and history behind dreadlocs know what exactly the issue was. Once again, I'm not trying to sound rude or angry, but im sorry if it comes across that way.
Hi! Love the new design!! I do think the old one was better (it's only my opinion! I still love both tho! New one is still good!) This isn't any hate, I love both and think both are good!! I just think the old one is better still, I don't really like the way her hair is on the new one, still think it's good, especially on the side view! I love the way you drew her in all! I love her new cutey mark and think her old one was good too!! I like the dreadlocks (idk how to spell it.. sorry yall if it's wrong) I think they were a good idea! (I mean this as constructive criticism. None of this meant to be hate ❤) I really like your AppleJack. It reminds me of an idea ive had in the past bc the name AppleJack comes from the alcohol. Love his design and dont see any reason to change it really. Absolutely love the new Fluttershy! Your PinkiePie is so cute and need no revisions in my opinion. My favorite characters are Rarity and Twilight Sparkle, but your designs didn't really reflect who they are? The body mods for Rarity is kind of an odd choice (in my opinion). You can lowkey tell that Twilight is your least favorite as she is soooo? Bland? But also over complicated? Her colors are too same-y. I understand the quick design creation for a character that you dislike, but I would love to see more thought be put into her 😅. Rainbow Dash. Good lord she's beautiful! I think maybe changing the colors and moving them around a bit would make her more spunky. Live for your designs though!
honestly I wasn't too fond of the short hair on the redesign at first but I grew to love it as the video went on. :] She's very pretty and I love your art style!! ^^

Okay first off, i love tehse redesigns and headcanons, their awesome 2nd of all, and feel free to ignore, Ive got mixed feelings on the new gen, i like some stuff liek frankie being autistic and using they/them, stuff like that but the overall plot is.....im gonan be honest, the plot couldve worked for anyone else but clawdeen, like her lore was just thrown out the fucking window, i love the old clawdeen who has 23 siblings and is sassy and would KILL for her loved ones Like i saw a fic that said this but g3 would be better if the cast was like, their cousins or smth, thatd make sense you know? If they had to make someone half human, id go with draculara, she'd be a better fit for the plot. I do also like how the new design has Clawdeen looking more like a wolf tho, i love making characters with animal characteristics Also they couldve made any ship canon, and instead of going with draculara x clawdeen like so many fans wanted, they go with cleo x frankie which, while their cute, i never saw or shipped it. Like please!! just make the vampire and werewolf girlfriends we've been waiting *years* I also dont like how they made witches outcasts though, like monster high was all about being your true self, they didnt care what species you were, like, at all. The only reason they didnt sho themsleves to humans was because of the, BURN THE WITCH stuff, and trauma. Anyways, I know they needed to have conflict but....this is not it We are shown bullying to be a bit of a problem, they couldve just had draculara being bullied by a diffrent group of vampires due to being vegan and stuff instead Not to mention how, like you said, they got rid of the accents and also got rid of the zombie language stuff, like all the other characters learned her langauge and it was awesome I like maybe 10% of the things the new gen brings to the table basically (If theres any speling mistakes i blame autocorrect failing its job and fat thumbs on a tiny keyboard)
I imagine she at first agreed to the dying (after TONS of begging from her brother, because he wanted to practice) because at the time she had trouble telling people no..but then actually fell in love with it and regularly had her brother touch it up. Then as her confidence grew she eventually had it cut short, it helps with caring for animals and going in burrows to help them as her hair won't get caught on stuff or pulled by the animals and she ended up enjoying it's functionality and how it looked (especially with her friends complimenting it). 🥺 She is so cute how you drew her!! She looks very similar to the original still just with extra details (as the show is pretty simple in detail, very little detailing..) making her look more complex and appealing. She totally looks like a animal girl (one with nature, adores critters of all sizes)! Also, I so agree, the pink on the bottom of the hair looks way better
Honestly I myself don't vibe with the brown and light browns against the pink and teal i just never liked vibrant colours next to brown or dark green but still the design is pretty cute
EEEE!! I wanna squeeze her!! She looks like she'd have a collection of pottery or she does pottery, and I don't know why🤔 But this definitely inspires me to do my MLP redesigns! Personally I headcanon Fluttershy as a trans femme, since in my AU, we know as a foal-she was very tall and lanky; plus she was always so shy and hid behind her mane as she grew it out over the years. And when she becomes more outgoing and especially during the episode that she had the deep ass voice, she learned to accept herself as the trans queen she is. But that's just my headcanon thing😅
@@WoodenWren fluttershy getting rid of her dreads as a white girl fad thing? implying they are non maintained and gross compared to her natural straighter hair, justifying removing the dread cause one canon character has dreads, it just rubs me a bit off
@WoodenWren the "we already got a pony with dread that smoke pot" was kinda off too (not like a massive hate crime lmao, just a tad meh), having dreads doesn't have to automatically be linked to smoking ganja and all that ya know
@@TheViralPagesI have never intended for Fluttershy's dreads to be related back to black culture. YES I am aware that dreads are a protective hair style that comes from that culture. I've always been referring to the white girl hippie dreads which,, end up gross and unmaintained because of uneducated people. I've never meant any harm to actual people with actual dreads, I think the hair style looks 🔥🔥🔥 actually. But not on my Fluttershy. The canonization of her having them and then taking them out was suggested by someone live while I was recording. I agreed and said what I did because I didn't believe there was a world in which Fluttershy of all people could keep that hair style maintained and clean. She works with animals, I just didn't see it working out. I didn't remove her dreads because someone else had them- I don't even like to think I was removing them at all. I was simply going back to a sketch that I much preferred the look of and I said that in the video.
This design is really cute but I will say that it doesn’t feel as much like fluttershy as it does feel like a fusion between flutters and twilight. Like flutters does have a huge change in character through the show but I don’t think she’d keep her hair short because I think she’d like letting her animals hide in her hair- and glasses I’m pretty 50/50 on, one one side I think they are cute but on the other it doesn’t feel like fluttershy. ALSO I’d love to see a zephyr breeze redesign!!!
I think the issue with the pink and teal might just be the value and saturation of the colours? a shorter messy lock style might've looked nice or at least her going from long messy sisterlocs to shorter microlocs considering itd keep up with her self confidence thing. that or she just wear her hair natural like the final design ended. i loved your colours and the way your draw tho!! literally in deep adoration of your style fr!! :3
