Amazing clean work ❤ what is that red stuff you used to clean the dial, never seen something work that well. Well organised and great craft, you make it look sooooo easy 😂
You make it look so easy but I do know it takes patience and practice to do this. I have tried twice already on older watches. I would have loved to see the Canadian watch maker that serviced my Bulova do a video like this. Great work and video close ups.
This watch company is sorely underrated. They make many fine dive watches as well chronographs for exceedingly fair prices. Thank you for the video…!!!!
I don’t understand why watches like this command such high prices when quartz movements are so inexpensive to produce. Automatic, self winding watches prices make some sense because of the tiny delicate mechanical parts.
theres a difference between a high quality grade and a mass produced plastic non serviceable movement. both quartz and mechanical. theres a difference between a high quality vehicle and a mass produced cheap vehicle. why is a porsche 911 so expensive when it takes you to point B just like a toyota could. why pay for a glock when you can get a hi-point that shoots the same bullet. materials used and production quality control is why you pay premium for products that serve the same function as a cheap toyota, hi point, and plastic quartz movement.
To my knowledge SMITHS was the biggest in terms of movement production, however they closed they’re Cheltenham factory in England around 1980. There are many companies that assemble watches in England but I’m not aware of any that manufacture on a large scale. Thanks
Hi Ricardo, thank you :) yes the SMITHS watch is a gem and in a great condition! I’m sorry I missed your email, my inbox has been a little busy lately. I will find your email and respond back within 24 hours. If you’re a collector of Military watches, I will be uploading videos of OMEGA, JAEGER & IWC military watches once I get round to them so keep your eye out ;) Thanks again
Thank you so much for your wonderful videos! I just started as a beginner on working on vintage watches and pocket watches. I am learning a lot from your videos. I am just curious, what type of oil or brand of watch oil are you using for the pivots? I also have an ultrasonic cleaner, what type of cleaning solution should I use on the watch parts? I would really appreciate your help and advise. Thank you from Florida!
That’s great to hear, thank you. I’m glad it’s helping you, I use Moebius 9010 oil for the gear train pivots. I put all the parts in a watch cleaning machine rather than ultrasonic cleaner however they will also work and do a great job as for the solution to use unfortunately the watch cleaning machine has several cleaning solutions which are not suitable for ultrasonic machine however any good supplier should stock the liquids you need for your Ultrasonic machine. L&R is a good brand for cleaning solutions. All the best, thank you :)
