I'm not paying 4 bucks a pack and risk getting crap cards worth (theorectically) 40 cents market price and 4 cents in burn value. The next set should increase burn value by at least 10X to as far as 100X. If I have to pay $4 a pack, I would like the option to burn the cards and get a significant portion back.
I hadnt gamed for over 15 yrs until i found splinterlnds, i was addicted and it was super fun. The fun stopped after chaos legion... too many stupid abilities that are only fit for , well, intelligent people.. not your common bloke like me. Bring back a classic mode for christs sakes..
@@jonatanandvanie7493it would be good to have different abilities to choose from, say, as the player base gets larger (so that more people are online and okay with rukesets being limited).
I see where you're coming from, but I think $500 upfront would be a harder sell than $500 worth of packs. It's like the series vs. movies thing. Make a 10 hour long movie and no one would want to watch it. Make that movie a Netflix series and they'll binge it in one day.
That 500$ would be complete waste of money. And everyone knows it. Company will have to give players something for free if they expect any kind of succes.
Every sale is pure disapointment. Simply because of developers attitude that this game is superb. More often than not they need reminder that game turned to trash. That might make them aware that they need to change course.
I am fine with adds and I like the Glint twist. We definitely need more sources of revenue. I have crazy/bold idea to help the team raise revenue. What if for the next 18 months the player base committed to donating 30% of our staked rewards to the team to help get through this brutal bear market. If my math is correct, based on current staked SPS and SPS price this would net the team $225,178 per year or $18,764 per month. If SPS goes up to $.015 then this would be $37,035 per month to the team....Please check my math. There are several strong arguments for this. 1. I am here for the long run and most of us have invested a decent amount of money into cards and SPS and land. If the team fails, our investments are worth $0!! Current Staking reward is 10.91%, 70% of this is 7.637% the player would retain. 7.6% is solid return on any investment in legacy finance. 2. I believe more players, like me, will invest more in game if we know the team have 2 plus year runway. 3. It shows the team that we support them, and this is a Team/Player effort. I am sure it would be greatly appreciated. It should make it easier for the team to retain employees, and many other business hurdles they must be facing. Not the team’s fault that we have been in crypto bear market. 4. It would be short sighted not to do something like this with pack sales not reaching the goal. In addition, I don’t think players would feel a 30% reduction in staking rewards for the next 18 months in the grand scheme of the game. 5. We have no idea what the teams monthly burn rate is (at least i don't). If we did do something like this I would request a solid budget from the team on how long the project can keep going with this boost and other revenue generating ideas such as ads.
Matt just had a long Discord speech where this was addressed. To put it short he said that it would be more trouble than worth. The current community is too small for adds to generate any significant revenue. Situation is likely different if players start flooding in again.
Wouldn't mind a banner , but anything that slows the game is a no. Other thing is ads are sold by views and we'd need more than the 8000 give or take a 1000 players for them to generate a decent pay out.
it would be a stupid move to buy btc at these prices which is like ATH lol. Its a guarantee that btc will drop to low 40k sooner or later and its better to preserve the stable coins and buy the dip. If you really want to back it up then its better to buy ETH, MUch safer at these prices
Bro where are these new players? Forget everything else, if they don’t bring in new players to buy crazy expensive packs/products there is no future. Most current players are sick of the high price of everything. There will be no SPS bull run. 99% of crypto projects the team make all the money. We are seeing it here, probably on massive salary’s. Now they will continue to milk the DAO until the game is no more
i think it's impossible to develop land with only 1 programmer, how about the graphics, audio and ui of games? and i think its OP. Real talk US, Europe and maybe rest of the world just hire developer from 3rd world country with $400 or maximum of $1,000 monthly salary.
Maybe it is an overreaction. If the DAO pays for actual work done, it would probably be more like a thousand bucks a month seeing how slow the team is in getting things done.
Thanks for making that video. I do agree that the communication around this thing could have been a lot better, but I was pretty shocked by a lot of the reactions it got.
The funds in DAO are now allocated for developing land. With what would it ever be able to buy any Bitcoin. There's also "not your keys not your Bitcoin" so would SPS holders ever get any of that Bitcoin. Definitely not guaranteed.
We are in this situation (and have seen it coming) because we are not focused on the two tings that generate revenue: sales and new players. I have to point out that pack sales are most likely suffering because they are overpriced. I know a LOT of players who are simply NOT buying at $4, who would buy at $2, myself included. I also think it's ridiculous to just ask theDAO to shoulder payroll without any say in the product. If the DAO is to pay to support the company, we need to get some leverage to have a say in what we are funding. Promo cards are a perfect example... we 'broke even' on the first sale, and it was called 'successful' since we did not LOSE money. I disagree on that definition of success. We need to MAKE money in order to be 'successful' with sales. The funding proposal estimated 200M DEC generated per sale, we missed that target by almost 100%, and it was made clear that pricing would not change. The DAO should have insisted on a say in the pricing, or insisted on market research/price discovery since we have FIVE total sales of TEN cards! Blind trust has to stop when funding is involved. If we are to fund employees, it's time to insist on a say in order to generate desperately needed sales, since it has been proven that sales/marketing are/is not currently a strong point of the company.
Thoughts: 1. Why is this DAO paying for his salary instead of DAO loaning the money? 2. Why is any coder paid such amounts per month? For comparison prime minister of UK earns £13800 per month, prime minister of Spain €8600, prime minister of Philippines $7600 and Poland $5800. Maybe company should abandon being based on US if this is the salaries expected in US for a web3 coder.
