These storage trunks all used to have big o-rings installed on them(that's why they have the groove is there). The first two trunks i bought a few years ago had the o-rings but the third i bought a little later didn't. When i called Plano to complain they said they are not including the o-rings any more despite the price remaining the same. They told me that they would sell me one as an accessory. So basically Plano wanted to cut their costs by quietly eliminating the o-ring to increase their profit.
I know it's an old video, but, I wanted to say thank you. I picked up the smaller version for my Pew Pew tools, + cleaning equipment, yesterday. Perfect size for all my equipment. And a nice box, + price for it too. Far better than a Duffle. Loved that you showed exactly what + what size weather-striping to get. Picked it up at the same time. 😁 Thanks again. And have a good one. 👍👍👍
They appear to have changed the design on the newer bins. I just got mine a few days ago, went out & got the weatherseal. Went to put it in. Opened the lid...there is no inner rut or valley on the inside of the upper lid anymore like there is on the one in the video. There is only a small roughly 1/8" lip that hangs over the lower part of the bin now.
@@dwmose don't know if you live near Canada but I just now bought one from canadian tire that is as shown in the video here and is good to go for the seal described.
What you've been looking for the PU Chemical for your this waterproof junction box gasket foam with Waterproof and fireproofing function, should be here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LQCDt1hGpJ8.html
This storage container looks like a good bargain. Two things that I would like to have (if I had one) would be a hinged lid so it can be opened and closed without completely removing the lid. The second thing would be a smooth lid so rain water couldn't pool on top. I'm looking for a robust storage container to put into my truck bed, for storing clothes, when I go camping and then remove when I get back home. Good review and smart idea for weather proofing. Thanks for posting.
For whatever reason, the olive green version of this box (also 108 quarts) does have a hinged lid. However the lip that goes around the inside of the box would not support a weather seal as shown in this video due to a much different design.
Thanks! HD as you said has this model for $29 or the one with the seal for $45 plus shipping (not in stores). I'm planning on 2 anyway... so $29+$29+$6 or $64 total is well better than $90 plus shipping. Thanks for saving me $$$.
Thanks for showing that demo. I'm going to pick up 2 today and seal'em both up myself. It's a good and cheap alternative to keeping stuff dry that don't really need to be kept totally waterproof. That's what my pelican cases are for. thanks again!
