I threw a party a few weeks ago at a friends house. I invited friends and he invited friends. But I fucked up, because I drank too much even though I told his mom I wouldn't. I was blackout drunk. She was really mad at me (understandably) and I felt very bad. So whatever you do when you throw a party, don't drink too much because you need to be aware of your surrounding and guests, in case something happens.
Variety is what im always going for, usually I don't have more than one song from the same artist in my playlist unless its from a different album with a different vibe
Streaming sites have a lot of great playlists, I'd recommend Spotify. Checking the charts also helps to know what's hot, and you might find something you like.
