Have the 2.5 DIY... Can't find any 2.25" OD cuffs anywhere that are compatible with the top inlets and since it does not protrude, I can't use a hose and clamp. Any suggestions other than getting the Deluxe kit which would have been helpful to know in advance? I'm in Canada and with the FX and freight its crazy expensive to have the vac to cyclone hose/cuffs shipped

“Overlap around the circumference”? What does that even mean. We can’t see what you’re doing in step one
@jpslattery7344
@jpslattery7344 3 месяца назад
The gasket appears to be longer than the circumference of the lid so instead of cutting it to length it sounds as though you would continue to run it around the rim of the lid. Inevitably, the end of the gasket could/should/would overlap where you started and there will be an area where you'll have, I assume, the end of the gasket running slightly beyond and alongside the starting point. Interestingly, the manual for the Dust Deputy Deluxe has the end of that gasket butting up against its starting point and not overlapping.

That annoying guy talking the whole time needs to shut the hell up so I can hear that sweet heavy metal guitar music. Also, lose the footage of that fat guy playing with the saw. Replace with young chicks with huge jugs covered in oil and bouncing around and pouring beer on each other. Don't you guys know how to make videos?

That's a really nice system but I'm going to stick with my 30 year old Craftsman shop vac that converts to a blower. I've got a 0.5 micron Clean Stream filter (I believe Oneida sells these as well) and I have short length of 2.5" flex hose coming from each machine with the fitting that fits right into the vac...simple and just plain works. I've thought about trying a small cyclone like The Dust Deputy or the Home Depot one but then the setup wouldn't be below the machine work surfaces and would get in the way. After reading reviews and watching a few videos it doesn't look like they add much and in some cases may hinder performance so I'm holding pat. Just putting this out there for other hobbyists with similar needs. I love the flexibility and adding new machinery is a simple as a short length of hose (3 feet or so) and a fitting that goes to the shop vac. No expensive fixed tubing or blast gates.

May I please ask how many CFM you’re getting at the Sawstop blade guard in this configuration? I need a separate dust extractor to get the best performance. Thanks.
@oneida-air
@oneida-air 4 месяца назад
Due to the tangential throw-off of dust from a table saw blade, most of the dust will spray off into the air instead of dropping into the cabinet below. For this reason, the most effective cleanup for a table saw is an overhead arm guard because the arm guard puts the vac suction right at to the dust source. However, most table saw overhead arm guards are designed with small port diameters that require a shop vacuum with high static pressure ratings to move enough air (CFM) through the pipe, or hose, to effectively collect dust and debris from the blade. The Supercell is unique in the fact that has more static pressure than a wet/dry vacuum to deliver enough airflow through the small hose of the overhead arm guard. If you want to service an overhead arm guard with a Supercell, the best method is to partially close off flow to the 4” port to allow more air to pull through the more restrictive overhead guard. Effective dust collection occurs when there is a sufficient air volume around the source of dust emission to entrain all or nearly all the dust into the dust collector. Insufficient airflow at the tool creates fugitive dust, or dust in the air and everywhere else in your shop. Static pressure is the tool that allows you to deliver sufficient airflow, or CFM, to where it’s needed on the source tool. A traditional low-pressure dust collector with a lower static pressure will not provide sufficient airflow through the small port of an overhead arm guard. Note: It is important to place the partially closed off blast gate after the overhead arm guard port on your table saw. This will allow the air from the Supercell to be redirected through the overhead arm guard, where airflow is most critical. We will post another comment shortly with a follow-up video on this question. Thank you!

All in all, the results are clearly much different with the swap out. Now for me, I was cringing when I saw the "T" connectors instead of Wye connectors. However, even if the T's were swapped for Wye connectors I do not think the old Dust collector would see an improvement enough to make up for the difference in the numbers. By the way, the non-turbo version of the Supercell is $2700 and the Turbo model presented in this video is a whopping $3400. So comparing the old system, which looks like a harbour freight model coming in a $249 normally, is not really a fair comparison between the two devices. It is a given that if you spend $3400 you get much much more than your money. I do like that it one unit and no need for a separate dust deputy or filter to take off and clean.

I am currently on my 3rd Supercell remote. I extended the antenna but they still failed. I’m never more than 20-25 feet from the unit and usually about 12 feet from it. The new one has been working for some time now. The only explanation is that the first 2 were inferior. Incidentally, I use remotes for several tools including my shop vac and have never had an issue with them. I love my Supercell and Oneida support. My only suggestion is to upgrade your remote. It would save your support team and customers a lot of grief.

I have the non turbo Supercell version and have had it for since 2020. I am so happy with it and wouldn’t have changed it out for anything. 9 tools hooked up to it with 9 blast gates. It’s amazing. However I cannot test air velocity on anything greater than a 3” diameter. My anemometer maxes at 30 m/s (5905 fpm) and I get an OL error. It’s a good problem but it limits me from knowing actual CFM at each machine. I noticed you were using the Protmex PT6252A that has a max air velocity spec of 40 m/s (7874 fpm). How did you get reading of over 10,000 fpm? Is there a range it can go over it max limit or did you have to use something else for the actual reading? Thanks for the help.

I consider this a very deceptive test for several reasons. You would get the same exact results if you replaced your dust collector with 2 or 3 shop vacs. This shop needs shop vacs for their sanders, not a dust collector.
@laurentsaint-louis4818
@laurentsaint-louis4818 3 месяца назад
You didn’t really mention why you think this is deceptive. But yes, you can use 2-3 shop vacs but they don’t have anywhere near the CFM of this. This can also hook up to tools with 4” ports and be able to collect that dust easily. No shop vac can do that.

As an EE, I’m not impressed that this fix is needed. The remote appears to be a cheapo, and doesn’t use a standard battery. But I can’t claim that any of my designs are perfect perfect either. It’s not a hard thing to do, so I suppose I’ll get it done. If that’s the worst thing about this high pressure unit, it’s still a good product.

This fixed my issue. You have a third configuration of switch, where the cables going into the switch box are configured in such a way that I could not simply loosen the coupling and fit in the longer antenna wire. I instead carefully drilled a hole into the housing and fished the wire through there. Now the remote works anywhere in my shop. Thanks for making the effort to not just dismiss issues, but find a fix and communicate to customers about it. That is excellent customer service.
