Hi Guys, I'm Kate, a crazy plant lady from New Zealand. My passion for plants has been going for more then 10 years and I now have my own houseplant business! Feel free to check it out if you are in NZ - www.wildvinetheshop.co.nz
On my channel you will find everything from VLOGS and behind the scenes, Plant chore videos, How to videos such as propagation, repotting etc and plant tours, whether that be my personal collection or my greenhouse plants.
So if that sounds like something you enjoy watching, then I would LOVE for you to subscribe and join the Wildvine Fam :)
If you're not from NZ and want to try some of the planty products I love, use & recommend, you can check out my Amazon store here: amzn.to/3WwOYWE *If you purchase anything from my storefront I may earn a commission, so if you choose to do so, I really appreciate your support :)
Wow your plants are absolutely stunning. I would love to know about how often you water what fertilizer you use and how you keep your leaves so healthy and shiny.
I just water them when they need it, which is usually every 1.5 to 2 weeks. I use GT foliage focus, which I highly recommend! I have that linked in the description (amazon) I clean the leaves occasionally with a neem based spray or I just shower the whole plant off with the hose from time to time :)
Is the GT Foliage Focus OK to use on an anthurium andreanum or should I get their GT Complete Focus? All my other plants are purely foliage plants so I only have the GT Foliage Focus and GT Rootzone.
Oh absolutely okay! The complete focus would be good if you were wanting to help support inflorescence as well as foliage but to be honest I use FF on all my plants and they still push inflo out fine. Both actually work equally as well.
Wow, I wish I could grow mine that wild, but in order to get them into the bathroom to treat for pests every few months that’d be a pain! So fun!! Have you tried your Anthurium in semi hydro? I know my Alocasias love moss on top of the soil to keep moisture into the chunky soil mix I have them in, I’ve got 2 Anthuriums in semi hydro that seem ok I’m jelly, I can’t make my Peru happy no matter what 😢 I’ve got 2 Gloriosum in one pot, facing opposite directions, they’re crawling away from each other, I’m def going to have to do something before it takes up a whole length of wall!
Everything is looking really great!! The philodendron cream splash I bought from you is looking really nice too 👍👍 When are you having stock of your small self watering pots back in? Your Gloriosum is amazing 😳😳
@heatherstephens9295 Aw thanks Heather! I am so glad to hear your plant is doing well, that makes me so happy! The small s.w.p will be in stock in a couple of weeks, they're on their way.
I love the Christmas Cactus in the disco ball pot. I have not thought of growing them indoors but I have to say your plant looks so much happier than what I have hanging under the patio roof getting far too much bright light. Thanks for showing your plants, they looks great.
Gloriosum goals! Mine was ‘removed’ from its pot by my dogs & trampled on. So it’s undergoing a journey to live again. One day I know it will be as large as yours 😃
Those new pots look amazing! I’ve been looking everywhere for tower pots like that specifically for my anthurium. Also I have found with my anthurium they really enjoy being in pots quite a lot bigger than what you’d think they need.
Thanks for showing your plant rescue, I hope they bounce back for you, your Warocoqueanum still looks great..I so want one of these! And a vittarifolium, Its so hard to find the strap leaf Anthuriums in NZ!
I have to say, I understand the logic in training the plants on poles. I love all your tipps! But i have to say - i really hate the straight poles. It looks to straight and therefore "unnatural" for me. In nature, they would climb other plants, trees, etc, and in my opionion, that would mostly not look that kind of straight. So I'd rather have it look more "messy" because it just feels more natural for me. Even If I have a climbing aid, I rotate it to slightly change the direction to not make it look like just climbing in a straight line tbh. Even if the plant might climb slower - thats just worth it to me.
My Pubicalyx is one of my favs, I’m running out of stakes long enough for my begonia angel wing lol she’s getting tall too, I love those star stem supports too, but some slip down the petioles and land almost onto the substrate when the petioles are really pulling in every direction A lot of your tips are dead on to Jan’s (Sydney plant guy) great tips! Our air con went out, so we’ve got to cover our east windows (morning sun in Canada) and I’ve noticed my Thsi con starting to face up at the grow lamp above it on the rack instead of facing flat/vertical towards the window from that lack of front light, can’t wait for the ac to be fixed cause my plants love that morning sun!! My big monstera has done similar, I’ve rearranged it and put a light in front now, I hope it returns facing forward instead of up
@torquess454 thank you for your comment! :) Monsteras are so responsive to light direction changes, it always amazes me how much they can move their leaves to face a light source. Nature is SO cool! Aww I don't watch Jan's videos much anymore, but he does have some great advice!
@paranjw No, I use either tree fern fibre or my growpole blend (which has moss and tree fern in it as well as some others). I'm a low maintenance kinda gal and moss is too much work for me haha!
@AhmadAsrafHashim oh definitely because I missed alot of watering.. hence why the plant didn't look it's best to start with. There are heaps of roots on the base of the plant in the pole but I got lazy with watering the top of the pole.
did your hoya pubacalyx always have that much splash or does it get more splash as the plant matures? i just bought one online but was disappointed that it came with very little splash.
Hey! It had good splash from day one. Generally if a plant doesn't have good genes to start with, it might never get super splashy (but never say never, plants are amazing things) They sure can vary a lot!
@@yvonne5458 Hi Yvonne, it's a 23cm clear pot, which I have on my website (if you're in NZ) www.wildvinetheshop.co.nz/product-page/clear-nursery-pot-23cm
