Hi great explanation of the features do you know if the unit is connected to the stock 6 cd changer in the Trunk i have an E38 with the unit unit but as not sure if it was designed to have it connected , so far it seems like it is not or i am not pushing the right buttons thanks.
Have had an AVANT 4 unit in my e38 for over a year now. Mostly it works, but it’s really kind of unstable. About every month or two I have to pull the unit out of the dash to reset the usb plugs. The dual dvr install was problematic (wires overheating), but AVAIN replaced the components and it works now. The original app needs to be upgraded from what’s delivered. The iBus works really well -no problems. I ordered an apple car-play dongle that took a log time to get working. The torque OBD2 app is worthless. It doesn’t get much data from the BMW computer. The iGo nav app never loaded. The steering wheel button editor doesn’t work. The radio works well, but won’t save presets. Amp is excellent. Mic is not particularly sensitive, so using it for hands free calling is problematic. I installed a different home screen that works a little better for driving. I also installed a music player to play music off a usb drive. The sd card reader quit working almost immediately. Finally I installed a switch in the power wire since occasionally the unit needs to be hard reset. (Like I said, the unit itself is a bit unstable.)
Sorry for the late reply. But the unit is great and holding up well! Works just like the day I got it. Every now and then the apps might crash and need a restart but thats the only minor complaint. These apps are made by 3rd party developers for 20+ year old cars so I don't expect modern day OEM reliability for software. If you are still considering it, I would say go for it.
Just like a smartphone screen protector. Make sure the surface is clean. Lay the pad starting from one side and stick it as flat as possible. Can try to smooth out bubbles if you get any
It worked. Did the same thing on an X3 2005, after watching your video. It took me like an hour to completely clean the old glue. I ordered the gel pads from aliexpress. Thanks a lot! Very useful video!
@@vincentpeck9078 Mine still worked, look at the end of the video to see it functioning. You can also test to see if the automatic headlight function still works. If the headlights don't turn on when you cover the sensor, the sensor unit may be malfunctioning.
Does it stil stick? The sticker didnt let go over time did it?? İm also going to fix my rls, but im not sure to buy the pad or an adhesive glue like permatex clear rtv? Which would you suggest?
What I love most is that it looks like the OEM nav. The older Eonon and other android units were flooded with white labels all over the face of the unit around all of the buttons, making it look very cheap and aftermarket. This one blends in
Did you manage to make your dual DVR camera system to work? I also have the same problem like you: I see the back camera, but it seems that the front camera doesn't work no matter what I do.
It's a decent unit. The one I installed in my e46 will always turn on the radio when it starts, and I wish I could figure out how to disable that. It's very annoying when you're waiting for the CarPlay app to scan your phone. I Have to kill the radio app to get it to shut up.
The app requires you to have an Internet connection, and it 'phones home' to verify your VIN number is allowed to run the app, so you need to make sure you gave the right VIN number to the Avin people. I had to have them resubmit mine before it worked.
@@kpobuibo I have this system and it will not connect to the internet. The Avin company has not been able to help me and they said I could return it for another unit, which I dread doing. I am trying to determine if there is something wrong with the system or if there is something basic that needs to be done with the set up. I wanted to know if what you said about the VIN number might apply to my problem since I have not come across any mention of that before.
I do not understand your answer. You are telling me to connect the 6M cable harness to the radio module and at the same time telling me I don't need the radio module. Can you be more specific, and if possible a picture? Just need to know specifically and precisely where to make my 6M cable harness connection in the trunk. Thank for your help.
Need your help, i have a 2001 E38. and just got my Avant4, Can you say where exactly you connect the 6M cable. Do you still need the radio module that is in the trunk?
