Hey there! My name is Will Hamilton! I love building props, talking about movies, making reviews, and creating in generial. On my channel, I'm always trying to keep my videos diverse and make them as entertaining as possible, and I'm always improving. I hope that you'll choose to follow along with me as I create, mess up, learn, and pass that lesson on, hopefully making something entertaining out of it, too! Thanks for joining in!
Eh, it’s tricky, I think it’s more that it ticked some of the major boxes for me that I want from a lightsaber, not to say that it’s the best one. I do think that the system is SUPER easy for people not into electronics though which is nice, like, there are just some people who want a couple lightsabers that feel cool and fun that they don’t want to worry about, and it fits that need, and good for them. I like the weight and the flashes and the feeling I get when I hold it, but yeah, it isn’t the best. I have been working out how to make my own lightsaber from the ground up with aluminum machining and that project will take years. I basically wanna make the same lightsaber design but in full aluminum with neopixel and CFX, make a removable fully detailed chassis, etc. But that will be a LONG LONG process. I wanna make it look and feel like that scene in clone wars with the younglings making their sabers, a bunch of tiny screws and parts that all come together, no glue, no plastic, all disassembleable down to the individual parts. That vision is gonna take years though. And it took the Galaxy’s edge saber dying for me to realize I wanted that instead lmaoooo
It’s actually a machined part made by fans, they sell many different versions of the part you can put into the front of a verity of models or airport pistols, the link to the one I used is in the description.
A stupid Luger really! My grandfather took one off a German advisor helping Japanese in the South Pacific! Junk junk dam bolt never stayed open front site is to dam long! A mouser 96 7.62 or 9mm yes!
Also would you ever put out more content? I’ve seen a few of your videos and they’re very good. You’ve got a great personality for this kind of thing and I would love to watch more videos
This may be an old video but if you see this comment I recommend you start off Imperial credits, they’re very simple however there a great prop. I recommend checking out the STL files for them on myminifactory, which is a fantastic site which are used at the beginning too. But this is just some of my experience with 3-D printing, i’m not the most experienced person with that kind of tech.
There is a link in the description to all the parts and pieces I used in this project, the Luger air soft replica is a Umerex Legends P08 Luger metal airsoft pistol, it’s the lower cost version. You can find it on Amazon and other places. The link to the listing on Amazon can be found in the description. Hope this helps!
You’re right, oh my god 😂😂 the front piece is based off the tip of a fighter plane gun from World War 2, and in the first movie the main Han Solo blaster prop used the real thing, it had holes on the cone part
Awesome Holster. Don't worry about the area where you messed up, It gives it character. If you don't mind I have a few leather working tips for ya. Get a Rawhide mallet, and a piece of marble when tooling your leather. The marble will give you a solid flat surface and kinda dampens the blow. The Rawhide mallet won't deteriorate like the rubber one, and won't mushroom your tools like steel on steel will. All in all, you did a great job.
Thanks for the helpful advice. I’ve been trying to figure some of this stuff out while working on a mallet heavy Witcher project I’ve been working on. Seems like a logical next step, right? And over time I have grown to like how it turned out a lot, the more beaten up the more in universe it feels. Thanks again!
I remember never getting a good look at the P08 Luger until I saw Rogue One and I was so so intrigued by the look of it, it’s a really perfect look for a Star Wars blaster made from a WW2 weapon. Would love to see more of what people could do to convert that base pistol into their own unique side arms for Star Wars. If you end up doing it, consider filming it, I’d love to take a look at what you come up with!
Thanks so much! I see lots of places where I could do better, but since this my leather work has only improved. I’m still very happy with the results here though. Still enjoy practicing my quick draws haha! Thank you for your comment :)
I know, right? It's a beautiful piece of work. The maker has done a ton of other great machine milled parts, if you liked that, could be cool to browse his stuff he has for sale, the link is in the video description. He's even done a few Boba Fett parts I think? Can't quite remember. Thanks for watching!
Dude, same here. I've herd that from a few people, and it hurts the more you think about it, like, you could have a wall of bounties, you could have these buckets of scopes and barrels and bodies, you could choose to make a rifle or a pistol, you could get a sling for a rifle or a holster for a pistol, It could be this florescent lit room like the corrusant underbelly, but obviously, no guns in Disneyland. it hurts to think about the potential :(
Great video as someone who is a fan of Star Wars and also an actual gun owner I will say I like your enthusiasm. That being said I have a few basic tips for you. First always assume the weapon is loaded. Second never point a fire arm be it real or otherwise at anyone unless you intend on using it. Third keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire. Fourth never look down the barrel of your weapon. Not only are these good general habit to get into but it will lends a level of authenticity to your character. Keep up the good work kid.
TRUE, I completely forgot about that ooooh my grandpa would be so disappointed lol! He taught me more than a few gun safety rules as a kid and taught me how to fire a few of them safely and properly, and it is probably best to keep up with those rules and procedures here as well, good point. I guess the level of removal from a real fire arm is amplified once you do all these modifications to it. Thank you for the advice!
Sydney Watkins I’ve been thinking about possibly getting a Jazz figure for my collection but I’m not 100% sure yet. It depends wether or not I end up going forward in getting the other Autobots from the first film as well, which I hadn’t planned on but I might do in the future. If I do end up getting Jazz though I’ll try to pick up the Robot Replicas version, it looks really nice
Yeah, that'd be awesome! Leia's blaster in A New Hope was made out of a 1911, right? What kind of look would you go for, something with a scope or a long barrel or something different?
@@willhamilton297 I think Leia's was some Soviet gun or something lol, I dont think star wars has used the 1911 yet, but I could be wrong. I was thinking something more like jyn ersos, with a wide cylindrical barrel, but with some nobs like yours! I want to do it out of metal so I'm not sure how I'm going to go about this, but I'll try to keep you posted. I have a plastic one made up of an airsoft gun. But like you said, I want the weight and feel of a metal one.
GAVIN GERRARD I cant tell you now after having it for a few months, it’s a great thing to hold and I only like it more every time I pick it up. It really is like holding the universe in your hand, and if you’re up for it I would love to hear how it turns out or what your plans are for it. If you don’t have a Replica Prop Forum account, you could totally look into getting one, it’s basically just like refit but about props and you can ask questions and start threads on your things if you want, it’s a great way to gather inspiration and information on builds. If you keep on going forward with the build, you can find me there, my account name is willrhami and my profile pic should be mostly a green light coming from my saber lol. Hope to hear all about it!
Wow this video kinda took off! (Well, 330 views is a lot to me at least!) I wanted to say thank you for watching, it mens a lot to see people watching this and also hopefully finding it entertaining and fun. Thanks again!
Oh man I had a dremel from 2005 that died last year. I was so sad, it had been used on SO MANY project both hobby and home repairs. I laid it to rest in my ammo can trash bin and my mother in law bought me a new one when she heard. She bought me the original so it was very fitting and kind of her. The new one is great and I'm almost glad it happened lol
Yeah, it’s always hard seeing a tool go. The dremel that died was kept in an old bagpipe cleaning kit box and had been there my whole life, so it was pretty rough seeing it go, but I kept the box and got an upgrade, so over all a win win, but still sad. Glad you got an improvement as well!
You got lucky drilling an already tapped hole, and tapping it again the same size!? And good idea with tue clamps. I wad going to suggest a good vise bolted to a solid table in your garage. Well that's where mine is but you get the idea. Great work! I really want one of those pistols to build a blaster from. Very nice. Btw this is shinchu from therpf.
Christopher Rea Yeah, I didn’t realize it at the time, but I got lucky a LOT of times on this build, could have gone way worse lol. I have a big vice in my garage, but it’s bolted to my table and it was a super huge mess down there that we need to clean up, which we did this week, so hopefully I’ll be using it next time. unfortunately I’m not shinchu, but I’m pretty sure I’ve heard the name before. I’m on the RPF as well.
