What about when you move forward and the pain moves forward with you? Like if your abuser prevent you from having children how do you move on from that to a nice great relationship where you can’t have children. Some traumas are not a reflection of the past but are a reflection of your present, AND the abuser moves on happily with their own lives

Thank you so much for this!! I went to therapy 4 times… different therapists and what I experienced was that these therapists wouldn’t even try to dig deeper, understand it and make me feel more comfortable. They even said they don’t think I would have anything and I am healthy as I don’t show any signs of depression (was the reason I went to therapy, but not solely). It really hurt me and maybe I did as well to make the test, because it’s just too intimate crying and opening up to someone who doesn’t actually care and just gets paid to pretend to care. Your words really calm me and give me hope that some day I can find a therapist with the same attitude as you and I can finally find help. Thanks a lot for the content 🙏🏿

I don't think people who don't understand that they are fractured can understand this mini presentation. It took years of work as a client to get to the point of understanding the impact of complex trauma on all of my reactions to stimuli. I hope people looking for help from this get professional help. I'm sure this is helpful for Practitioners, but very frustrating for those who are suffering and want to get better.

on minute 6.50 and beyond: I dont agree .. my mom all my life said Never say u r not good ......... always say u r good ... that meant a lifetime of denying the real pain .. and that caused definite trauma / she never let me say what is happening to me. This woman is saying the same thing. She says you r good forget pain

@@luv2charlie sorry I didn’t explain it fully :) I have had chronic illnesses and by being good that is what I meant. Every time I said I have pain (in the phone/ I live away from them for most of my life/btw she died few years ago too) she denied it in order to take away the responsibility of care to her child . Basically her recommendation was exactly like what this woman says! I watch your video now after almost six months and learning much. I still agree with what I wrote above. I know for some people this works but it is damaging if you use these recommendations for people like me whose pain isn’t like just don’t say it!

I would only add that we can help others by listening to them with open heart and mind and not trying to fit people into our mental models without knowing who they are as if all people have the same past stories. It's obvious some patients with HIV / CANCER are being enslaved to the antiviral and other supplementary Orthodox medicine just to help suppress the virus and not a cure. I have been with the virus since 2012 until I was introduced by a blogger who also narrated Her story online on how she was cured of Genital Herpes after using Dr Abumere Herbal Medicine. This is a year and 2 weeks since I was delivered from HIV. All thanks to God for using this Great herbalist to heal me. I have promised to keep telling good things about this. Trauma mechanisms ought not to be labeled as brilliance. Victims brains don't need superficial and nonsensical emotional adjective descriptions to pacify painful experiences. This coddling is dangerous and disrespectful to the reality and consequences of trauma and abuse. Breaking away is not a skill.

Don't forget Harvard was started to colonize natives, never forget Harvard gave poor children radioactive oatmeal many times, lying to them and the families that it was helpful, so they could follow them and their resulting diseases. That's Harvard, you stand with them?
@dotsyjmaher
@dotsyjmaher 2 года назад
Harvard is NOT a monolithic entity...individuals commit atrocities OFTEN they can get others to join them... But in history those who stood against the maggots were often part of the same organizations.. I suggest you start looking at real history of individuals and stop falling for "woke" propaganda. You will meet some VERY brave amazing people.. Start with Corrie Ten Boum Raul Wallenburg Dietrich Bonhoeffer George Marshall George Patton Look at people who had the courage to go against the crazies....you might find a better place in life than being a follower of propaganda... Followers are the reason atrocities happen.

You should note that theres actually different forms of self harm triggering and effects some feel pain some dont some feel cuddly and tired after some lay in a small pool of water and blood that makes them take a nap or clean it up some do deep cuts and constantly wear a long bandage even for years and the cycle is usually an uncommon one because theres different moments theres usually lots of pause time between self harm and even more so it's not always destruction but soemtimes just to relieve stress for some it acts like a drug making them very weak and tired so they dont gotta deal with bullshit

This is one of the things that has brought the most healing through trauma therapy with my counsellor. My therapist said pretty much exactly the same thing, saying that my responses make sense for someone who has experienced what I've experienced. Prior to the counselling experience, people who I sought out and were in a power position to help me escape the traumatic situation blamed me for what was happening and invalidated everything I was saying. That in and of itself was further traumatizing because not only was I stuck in a traumatic situation, but the people who were supposed to help me only made things worse. That was one of the best things to hear because I was still carrying things on my own shoulders and not having a disposition of self-compassion. My therapist empowered me to believe that what those people said to me and about my situation isn't true. When I was initially in therapy, I was not doing well from a mental health standpoint and the trauma therapy I received was life-changing, if not life-saving.

"If they choose to be on the ceiling or they choose to be present." My experience is that there is no choice involved. It happens, it happens really quickly, and it takes time to come back. You don't feel good while it is happening, and when you come out of it, you feel terrible.

I have a lot of dissociation and I must say I disagree with you. Of course it's not possible to just easily turn dissociation on and off but there are many ways to affect on it and to make it milder, through practise. I also occasionally enjoy dissociation, because it takes my pain or fear away. Sometimes it feels horrifying, but not always. Experiences with dissociation can be very diverse.
