Hey I’ve been watching some of your videos and like them, what app or editing do you use t get the speed, trail, and compass on the screen, that’s pretty cool
I have the GoPro Hero 7 and use the Quik app from GoPro to add those features. They call them stickers and they have a few others but I didn’t care for them. Thanks for watching my videos!
Car runs good! I’m looking to get into a smaller VW rail next year hopefully. Something like a mazzone. More bang for your buck as opposed to SXS in my opinion.
People don’t understand the commitment it takes to drive in the dunes, looks like a good time and a fun run, gotta learn the lines then you can really hammer down. My grandpa had a VW beam buggy so much fun so many memories wish I could go back in time too many SxS in the scenes now a days not a bad thing but I do miss the rail enthusiasts.
@@MATSHEINSTEDT Nice! I was looking for a cheaper action camera or gopro to get, and I was looking at the 7, the video quality looks actually pretty good in this video! I might go for the 7, unless I can afford an 8. The 10 is just way too expensive!😂
@@coopersharp2921 I still use mine but I haven’t uploaded anything lately. I gotta learn how to edit because I think it’s way more entertaining to get rid of the boring stuff. Good luck with the camera, I would recommend the 7 and GoPro mounts. You don’t want to lose an expensive camera from cheap mounts.
Brings back great memories i use to go there from 77 to 84 is dirty bobs shop still there it was a long time ago time sure does fly it was a lot of fun
I went to Glamis for the first time in 89. I went to Dirty Bob's and Clean Gene's next to the Glamis store-both are gone. It's changed a lot but the dunes haven't. I have gone 5-6 weekends a season for the last several years and plan on going till I can't. Still one of my favorite places.

It’s a 2276 with dual 45 Dellortos. I’m currently building a 2180 and going to run a turbo on that one. Tips for desert riding would be to always ride with a buddy and be aware of your surroundings. Don’t forget to have fun!!!
Mat your Grape Soda is an awesome car. There's a lot of work doing what you did I'm glad you shared it. I heard you're thinking about turbo charging it. Can we expect a video of that.

It’s mid engine so it has done a wheelie or two but the real answer is no. I’ve up dunes that have a lip on them or a bump that makes the front end light. If you have it pinned wide open and the RPM’s are really up there it has done a wheelie. It sure ain’t no Funco- it only has 165 hp.
Nice ride, just my speed. Question about the speedometer, compass and track inserts in your video. Are those captured with the GoPro or another device and then added later during editing? Thanks.
The GoPro captures all that and a few more things then you add them to your video while editing. They’re called stickers in the app. Thanks for watching it!

@@michaelmccarthy4615 well I rebuilt the car when Covid started and my driving has improved over the past season or 2. I put a deeper sump on the new motor and a larger crank pulley to get the fan speed up all for more cooling. I’m still learning every trip and plan on going as long as possible!! @@MATSHEINSTEDT look at a stock 1600 in a car. They have special tin all around the cylinders to provide even and complete air flow. This is to avoid hot spots. There are baffles in a stock dog house. Try to retain the factory designed air flow. Larger motors need to remove even more heat. The factory air flow design is very well thought out.
Just watched your videos, cool editing! Man you got a nice buggy! My VW is 2276 Sand Sprite 6 with mid travel suspension. An Old school car that got modified a few years back.
Thank you! I'm new to this whole thing and I will be making new videos this month showing the restoration of my buggy. The camera is a Gopro Hero 7 black and I just mount is to my buggy in different places. Thanks for your comment and yes I agree that rails are more safe than SXS's. SXS's have better suspension that my buggy and are more reliable but my buggy is wide so it doesn't want to roll as easy. Money makes things fast so it depends how deep your pockets are!
Hey could you tell me what kind of shock absorbers you have on and what set up? I’m building my sand rail right now and looking for a better alternative than coil overs . Your reply would be much appreciated

I ran basic gas shocks on my 1600 4 seater and the rear blew out. Upgrading to coil overs to go with the torsion bars in the rear. Not sure what I’m doing in the front
This one is a Type 1 VW 2332cc motor. The engine builder I use said it would cost over $4200.00 to have a spare long block made. It cost me $1100.00 for the carbs and manifolds so it get expensive fast. As far as cars go it's probably one of the cheaper brands to start a hobby with.
Dame G I just had my other buggy motor gone through and it cost me just below $3000.00. It’s a 2276 and it made 165hp. That’s the car in my other videos.
