Hey, I'm still in the middle of this talk but so far it's been great, a really valuable source of information. How could I reach out to Mr Maloney or who should I talk with to ask some questions about trying to develop with activitypub?
13:40 I wrote an lsblk(8) clone for OpenBSD a few months ago. It's currently only available in -current as a package/port, but should land in 7.4-release.
I looked into this briefly in the past. UUID v4, or anything else nonsequential, is fine as primary keys on PostreSQL but not for primary keys on MySQL for performance reasons on inserts, and the difference comes down to how the indexing works. MySQL's algorithm assumes that the primary keys will be inserted into the "hot" block in a way largely numerically clustered. IDs that are close to each other go into the same "block" and your only going to have one or a few blocks that are hot for any given table normally. That's why the v1, or some other unique id that includes a timestamp component is ok.

Why I could not find that when searching "Linux PAM" and only when I used "pam_userdb" in YT search? This should be default result for "Linux PAM"! Wonderful explanation!
An LXD virtual machine is a QEMU virtual machine which is level two hypervisor that runs in user space on top of the operating system. KVM is a level one hypervisor that runs in kernel space (in the opposing system) directly on top of the hardware. So, at least in theory, a QEMU container could run inside a KVM container, but not the reverse. QEMU is similar to VirtualBox which is also a level two hypervisor.
Nice talk, however I'm concerned that audience got most to say about compressing logs, rather than data integrity ... I san see where priorities of sysadmins are :/
one point what if you are a computer user, and nobody, understands and buy the computer, what happens all computers on sale are microsoft computers its been over 6 yrs now i just use what is provided on the machine i bought
We'd love to, unfortunately the way the video was uploaded it doesn't give us the option to generate these. If the option becomes available we'd be happy to turn them on. Alternately, if someone would provide subtitles we'll be glad to add them to the video.
This was such a good talk! I learnt about GTD and todo.txt in one go, well done! I kinda wanted to hear more about jrnl though as that sounds very very useful. I'm gonna use my own todo.txt file for now and see if I can make it work the way I need a todo list to work. I always have so many different mini projects going on at once.
i have a question in the Alternate Authentication you said either he must pass A or B&C at 30:30 but C is sufficient if he passes b and he does not pass C wouldn't he be allowed ?
