Ms. Tanya didn't address the hours... She begins at 5:30 a.m. and comes back into the yard at 5:00 p.m... Is 12 hours a day the usual working hours? I'm a bit confused sorry.

2015....retirement now 2.7%@57 yrs.... The gravy train is over in California post " great recession"- still, $52-$70k/ yr ( not including paid benefits and overtime compensation). Its a Cop job.You definitely won't get rich but you won't starve either....
I noticed there is a school bus garage a block away. Do drivers work routes in a specific bus yard or can be assigned to any garage that the LAUSD needs on different days?
Thanks for your interest in working at LAUSD! We'll get back to you with an answer shortly. In the meantime, you may want to check out our Police Department's website at: www.laspd.com/
tsidow2008 Thanks for your patience. Yes, we do. Please go to www.lausdjobs.org and submit an application for Police Officer. More information will be provided in the job posting on the website. Good luck!
What is the reference code to apply as especial education at LAUSD web site? I recently graduated. Degree: Bachelor of Arts in psychology counseling, and I want to grow in the field.
I used to drive for LA Unifed,,,yes it's union there is medical/dental and the salary is outstanding,,,,,,I dont know what the starting salary is but by now top pay is probably $24-$25/hr and if you like to drive,,it's the best school bus driving job in America,,,,,,in a day you can travel as far as Chatsworth to San Pedro and then some,,,,,,
Don't join for the money, because school police makes significantly less than any other department. The starting salary is 48K and the maximum you can make is 59K. Also, it may be a police department but you still have to deal with LA Unified School District Admin., which is in turmoil right now, and they have their own agenda for school police. If you really want to make a difference in the community join the LAPD or LASD.
Thank you very much for responding, a freind of mine is a LAPD officer, and told me to go and see for myself at Santee High School and check out the pt .test. Lots of applicants were there testing .I 've spoken to several sheriffs deputies, and officers but I can never seem to get a hold of a LASPD officer and get his perspective. From what I see is you do serve many roles like you said. I can't see myself doing anything else .
Hi Blanca, We are are fully credited police force and go through the same training as any other police officer in the State of California. One of the big differences between LASPD and other police departments is the schedule. The vast majority of our officers work day shifts, M-F. Another difference is that, compared to other police departments, our officers are able to take on the roles of mentors and role models and are therefore able to focus on preventative police work. Hope this helps.
