Nothing specific, no. 😅 Plastic is already waterproof, and DMC threads are colorfast and can be washed. Same as if you'd embroidered a shirt or something. If it expect it to get wet I might not stuff it just so it doesn't absorb as much water and retain it. But even felt will dry out fairly easy and is used for applique on clothing and quilts.
Thank you! I've been trying to get into making little cross stitch trinkets but I've been using the wrong canvas type and the edges kept fraying. I'm going to be trying with the plastic canvases soon!
Thank you so much for making this! I love the smaller clip with a loop for keychains, and I'll definitely be making a needle minder with this technique soon!
Yes I do! Sort of. I actually wrote the official Stardew Valley Cross Stitch Guide. Which is only available at Fangamer.com and includes all sorts of sprites from the game. :)
@@SnootyLlama There is no digital version unfortunately. It does sell out once in a while. I never know unless someone tells me, lol. 😅 But you can sign up to be notified when it's back in stock.
I'm so glad to see you here! Your website is the most helpful tool I've found since starting cross stitch, and these are just the kind of videos I love to watch. And yes, I'd love to see a WIP/UFO parade! (lol)
It looks awesome!! Im a new subbie. Just came across your channel and really enjoyed the video. Cross stitch is my first love. Slow stitching is my second love. 😊
Aww, thanks for the kind words! :) I LOVE cross stitching. But I'm having so much fun trying out new things. Definitely will need to incorporate more slow stitching into my hobby time going forward. 👀
thank you for making this! I've only done traditional cross stitching and have really wanted some physical charms or keychains to spice up between projects. you made this super simple to follow! thank you ♡ and your designs are adorable!
I'm glad it was of help to you! I'm not sure what you mean by 'traditional' but I do definitely encourage getting outside your comfort zone and trying new things! :)
@@Sirithre ah I just mean canvas and framed works only! it's the only thing I was taught, I didn't realize there was so much I could do with cross stitch!
I have a hard time fitting regular jump rings through the plastic canvas, any tips for that? I personally prefer the keychains over the cell phone clasps with the cord, though the clasps look easier to get into the plastic. I know 14 count is a small hole so it's hard to cram the jump ring through. Thanks!
Not really a tip for that tbh, they are indeed small holes. You can get thinner jump rings as the join to a keychain ring, or just kinda push them through carefully to avoid ripping the hole.
Trying to find your list I clicked on the website and tried to choose cookies level of. Then had to go to another site to find out more - STILL NOWHERE to select my cookies choice. BYE BYE not subscribing
After washing, it would have been interesting to put in the freezer the ones which come back if it's cold. So we could see if washing stops it being returned by the cold.
That would be a good idea for another video! I didn't use any Frixion pens this time, just the pure washable ones. It's the heat-erase ones that come back in the cold.
I have never heard of hardanger until today... Looks very interesting .. I don't know how I stumbled upon your channel but I ❤ your videos. I, like you would be a total beginner at this and the cutting fabric would make me feel a little nervous. I have cross stitched before, but not nearly as experience with it as most. I, like you, am wondering what it would look like on another fabric and I am curious how large the holes would be. When I visualize it in my mind I am thinking the holes would seem a lot larger on a 22, but I really have no clue. I think yours turned out fabulously! Thanks for showing me something I have never seen before. I love how unique your channel is, how unique you are. Again, thank you. You are a very talented artist.
Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm a long time cross stitcher and I strive to teach and encourage creativity within cross stitch. But being a beginner at any craft is always scary, so I try to be transparent with what I am new at to show it's normal as well! Hardanger is something I've been meaning to try for ages. I can't visualize at all, but the holes would definitely be larger and easier to see on 22 count! Count just breaks down to 'how many holes per inch', if that helps visualize! And I bet it would make sliding your scissors in and only cutting specific strands a bit easier. And probably would've been easier to film. But sometimes jumping into that 'deep end' with a project is just what I need to get started. So 32 count it was. 😂
I'm looking forward to going through the list and picking one. I'm glad we're not doing it till June though I have so many projects to do in May already!
Life happens and time you thought you had can quickly vanish. Or a project can take longer than expected. Plus, if you're not enjoying the process -- don't finish it! You still learned about that craft and whether or not you want to do it again. ;)
Yesss! Pixel Art converts great to cross stitch, with a few considerations. There may be some frustration when converting to the available thread colors, but limited color palettes aren't exactly new to pixel art. ;) The other thing to look out for is colors with too few pixels or single pixels off by themselves. They can be greatly effective in pixel art, but are annoying to stitch!
@@Sirithre that’s amazing! I’ve always done cross Stich with a 14 count fabric, so for me it was a bit difficult to commit to actually finishing the project. With this my attention span will be better lol.
So excited for your flosstube! I've done a few of your tutorials and loved them (especially the biscornue one which I was so intimated by). I'm definitely going to check out the RPG Forum.
I am filled with so much happiness because I found this channel!! Thank you for all these helpful videos! I prefer the card stock, but they are both really nice.
I found this video at the PERFECT time !! Ironic enough I was hoping to make some plastic canvas accessories for the up coming Stardew Valley concert in march, so I’m loving the fact you’ve made Stardew pieces 🥰
Glad it was helpful! I'm always looking for new ways to finish stitches. Though admittedly most of my tutorials are over on my website in text/photo form. 😅
Thanks for the video! Question: when making something like earring or hair clips where its foing to come in contact with body oils, do you finish the piece with anything? Or have you not found that to be an issue. Thank you!
I haven't found it to be a big issue, and they are technically washable since DMC is colorfast and plastic canvas is... well, plastic. They'll just look discolored until they dry off a bit. ;)
Sorry for the suuuuper late reply! I don't make these as much anymore, but I always charge by time spent. I actually have a whole tutorial on my site on how I do my pricing: sirithre.com/pricing-your-cross-stitch-for-commissions-and-sales/
when i started cross stitching i didn’t really know what i needed- so i picked up a ten pack of these. now i’m getting around to learning how to work with them, i didn’t want them to go to waste. thank you! ❤❤
