The piper nearest with his back to the camera is me. I'm next to Ross walker who is adjusting his reed. Neil Cranston is the snare nearest the camera to the right of - I was pretty close with Neil and was his piper when he played solo. Magic stuff
Cheers bud, you have no idea how much he looks like Big Robbie Kidd. Even the way he wears the drum up high and also the way he plays, which is amazing by the way. Robbie Kidd played with Paul Turners Corps with Dysart & Dundonald. Cheers bud I have watched it about 20 times 👍👍👍👍👍
THE DRUMMING IN MY OPINION IS DOING ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING FOR THE PIPES. IF this HAD BEEN A NI BAND PLAYING THAT CRIMINALITY RACKET TO PIPES THEY WOULDVE BEEN LAUGHED OFF THE PARK BECAUSE ITS THE POLICE FORCE PIPE BAND THEN its made acceptable. 1981 Tommy GEDDES SAID IT HE COULDNT UPSET THE APPLE CART THE CUTTING IN AND OUT FROM STRATHCLYDE FOR SHOTTS AND CITY OF VICTORIA WAS THE BEST.82 83 BIGHALL ROBBED BLIND 84 SHOTTS ROBBED M MACKENZIE WHICH HUNT AGAINST SHOTTS 85 WAS SFU CLEARLY 86 78TH LIKE IT OR LUMP IT. THIS IS NOT ENSEMBLE ITS A PIPE CORP WITH I DONT KNOW WHAT AT THE BACK.ITS NOT DRUMMING OF GRADE 1 STANDARD IN ANY SHAPE OR WAY..
1984 great to see this well played Men & Jennifer Hutcheon. I enjoyed this for no slow air. Then 85 Medley opened with the Brigidier snow. Celtic roots album is one my favourates. Thank you
Yes that’s right AD :-) unfortunately I don’t have this written down and have added a few two bars phrases from other CR scores. It’s great to play and keeps you on your toes .

Your WRONG THAT 2 ARENA Grade 1 DIDNT START to WORLDS IN 1987. I WAS AT THAT CONTEST 1984 IT WAS MSR IN THE MORNING THEN MEDLEY IN AFTERNOON. THAT STOPPED AFTER 1986 WORLDS. THEN FROM ANYWHERE FROM 9AM 9.30AM ONWARDS IN 1987 FOR I REM PLAYING THE MEDLEY THEN MIDDLE SMALL FINAL TUNE UP AREA THEN MSR.ARENA THATS 100% FACT
Royal scots greys si importants dans l'histoire de mon village en Belgique. Le 22 août 1914 ils combattent l'envahisseur allemands. C'est à Péronnes les Binche.
Anyone who gets hit on the chin is going down. It happened to all the greats before. Errol was no exception to the rule. Therefore respect to Errol. He was a good fighter who just came unlucky.
Yes it was John Scullion as Lead Drummer, we also were world champion drum core that day. I was second from left of the drum core next to Jim Hutton. Pleased to look at this now, whoever posted this made an old duffer very proud and happy. Cheers.
True...until 1987 when a very innovative and dynamic 78th Fraser Highlanders came along and lifted the title after their 6 yr run. B&B's drum core was the best during this time though. Very technical, tight playing. Many of the drummers in Tom's core were younger teenagers too.
Could someone complete the list of tunes? :) - Jack's Welcome Home - (Strathspey?) - Aspen Bank - (Reel?) - The Kesh Jig - Rocking the Baby - The Clumsy Lover
Jim Kilpatrick and James King are drumming legends Kingy sadly passed away recently but all i can say about them both is that both drummers are way ahead of there time here and for many years later Major Manson all i can say about you is......is that you know fuck all about pipeband drummer and if you do then its very little......do some homework on these 2 drummers and am sure you might regret putting that comment....
To be fair, this style of drumming and this corp in particular were the best, however drumming has evolved as has piping and piping sound. I think Toms scores are still great however the style of playing is very mechanical and very much of the 80's. Wee Bobby Rae from Ravara played like this alot and as amazing as he was and his corp's were, this style of playing got left behind and now you have players like Stephen McWhirter and Barry Wilson demonstrating an open, controlled style of playing.
still sounds far better than todays boring scores all the G1 corps sound the same the pipe band game needs individual sounds not generic boredom. I speak as an ex G1 snare drummer.
