The KLR is so underrated IMO! I’ve been there about 3 times, in 2013, 2016 and 2022. And when I went in 2016, they had a “Day Out With Thomas” event, of which I have very fond memories. :)
This video is absolutely fantastic! I hope I can make something like this for my heritage railway someday. Shame the one time I visited the KLR had the worst of Yorkshire weather following me round. Maybe I will be able to return for a gala. (P.S. if anyone knows what the music is at the end of the video, please let me know)
Just the right type of loco for the job. Plenty of low speed power and the drive well protected in the middle. From what I’ve read, the logging railroads of the US favoured the Heisler for snow ploughing. The Shay’s had the power but the motion was very vulnerable.
Pity i live so far away - this line looks like just the kind of place i'd love to spend time and effort on. i hope this railway will get far more publicity than it seems to have right now.
