This is Driving With Todd and I'm Todd. I love music. It is sort of my life. On my channel you will hear many different genres of music. I react to groups and songs I have never heard before, usually suggested by my viewers. I also react and/or review groups and songs that I love from my past. When I cover a song from my past, I try to relate it to what was happening in my life at the time. This is sort of like story time with Todd. I normally do not talk over the soundtrack of the video I am reacting to, but instead stop the video to talk about what I have heard to that point. The reason I rather stop the video then talk over it is I want to hear every note played and sung by the band. I can also give my thoughts with some detail during these stop breaks. I hope you give my channel a try. If you like what you hear and see, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE. Thank you! Peace out baby!
They played this song when we had open skating at our school gymnasium. I bought the single and it gives me good memories. Thank you Junior Walker for this music.❤❤❤❤
Hi Todd this was some hot drumming .Also there is an Australian band called “Spiderbait they do a wicked version of Black Betty you should check it out I am sure you will love it .Cheers
I remember the version by the American Breed and Juice Newton. I don't know how I missed this version since I've always loved her music. RU-vid has a video of her on the Johnny Cash Show doing a Ray Charles song that she just kills and shows off her guitar playing chops as well.
Id appreciate if you would react to Anyway that i Want You by Evie Sands in 69. Her vocals are great, somewhat similar to Gayle. Actually one of my favorite songs in my 60 yrs listening to music
I saw them do this on the Smothers Brothers show in 1969 and the camera work during the instrumental rhythm break was incredible, so well synced up with the music. Fortunately the video is available on RU-vid. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9lHTZx6cr18.html
Yeah, nice putting these together, thanks. I may not have heard the trio recording before, guessing you played that off of a vinyl LP. I think a combination of the limitations of vinyl and the voices of the trio, it didn't wow me as much as I expected. Their solos weren't as clear, and their 3-way harms sounded rather harsh to me, perhaps pushed a bit too hard, and some excess vibrato, generally not a good thing when singing together. Whereas F&F, whom I've been following closely for a few years now, Maggie (1st soloist, alto/mezzo soprano) has a very chorally clear voice/style/habit. Sammy (2nd, soprano) smokes high harmony every time and has more southern/country style to her voice. Those 2 bring a seemingly magical blend when they sing together, regardless of which is on melody, is one of F&F's features that makes them stand out consistently and always very easy on the ears. Chase (3rd, tenor/alto) brings a whole 'nother level of vocal skills with superb breath control, dynamic control, emotion, richness, muscle. The fossils bring pretty much perfection in their instruments, including simulated slide, and Tim and friends go extra miles/care into production work to make each recording astoundingly good.
The other hit Cilla had that year was "Surround Yourself with Sorrow." There might have been a couple more hits as well in '69....just can't remember them at the moment.
Stewart Copeland of "The Police" also uses the Octobans. There are 8 drums in the set so you can tune them to a "musical octave", which is 8 notes. 🥁🪘🔥🔥
Excellent reaction, thanks. If you haven't yet, give a listen to Book of Invasions. That was my introduction back in the day, for which I'm forever thankful.
The cover photo, taken by Henry Diltz (who took the 'Couch' cover photo) is at SS's cabin in Gold Hill, Colorado taken the morning Jimi Hendrix died, September 18, 1970. This was not onstage; there are some great live performances, but this was in the studio LIVE ONE TAKE. In the dark and yes, drunk.
Loved your reaction to Khe Sanh. If you ask Australians about their favourite Chisel song you’ll probably get a variety of answers as they produced many great songs. But ‘Forever Now’ is well worth a listen, including for its notable guitar work - Ian Moss (Mossy) is extremely talented, precise and yet still very creative. He makes great use of complex rhythms and also modes in his solos. He gets this sort of bittersweet/reflective mood from the three amazing solos in this terrific song. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hhnp3td-UHU.html And if you are interested in a couple of other iconic (in my view) Australian songs - try Crowded House ‘Don’t Dream it’s over’ and the quirky ‘Cattle and Cane’ (The Go Betweens). The Hammond organ solo in the first song has that same mellow/reflective effect as that one you discuss in Khe Sanh. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J9gKyRmic20.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZCbyByY-A6w.html
VB is beer. SLR is a rifle. The title is 'A walk in the light green', NOT A walk in the green light, ffs! On the map, dark green meant lots of trees and no mines. Light green meant no trees and lots of mines.
Since you are confused between Maggie and Chase. If you listen to them perform "The Night Before" (live in the same parking lot) you will hear Sammie change the lyrics in the last chorus to honor Maggie who left for college the next day. Chase joined the following year and is younger than both Sammie and Maggie. For a great comparison of all three of their voices you should listen to "Telling Me Lies' (Linda Ronstadt, Emmy Lou Harris, and Dolly Parton) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i8LswT9ZLAs.html. I would actually recommend you listen to the "Trio" version first. Given the talent of those 3 it is hard to believe that the F&F version is better, but it is in my opinion. F&F have at least 50 videos that are worth watching and listening to.
Great reaction Todd. I always liked Olivia. Now going back to your reactions I Rather Go Blind series another new one has come up by Samantha Fish and Warren Haynes and this one is a killer! It's from Slash's Serpent tour in Thunder valley California! Samantha absolutely steals the show in this video. You have to do a reaction to this. I promise you are going to love it. Thanks again Todd!
Aussie bands, tough huge country, long long roads more than highways, tough towns, tough pubs to perform in, often to a few people. This all goes to make tough bands. Like AC/DC (Bon Scott out front). They perfect their craft under hard conditions and fight for recognition and money. Billy was the first artist to realise they needed basically a union or good management to ensure they got paid more than a pittance. Billy and band, so loud, they played in a two story club one night, the top floor had a huge fish tank, by the end of their set, they had killed all the fish Saw Billy in 1971 in Brisbane, we all sat on the floor in front of the stage which was only about 10 inches high. Enjoyed 2 hours of Billy basically jamming. Great memories
Thank you for the reaction, Todd! Great stuff! Love the arrangement! My favorite part of ONJ's vocals is when she hits and sustains the high notes. Such a pure beautiful tone! Ramone and ONJ poured their hearts into this production, and you can feel it! Thanks again!
Hey man! Thanks to reacting to our cover of TW's the Warning =) We chose this song as a thank you to the whole TWA and their support for FTF. The song is already stuctured as a duet between Pau and Dany, so we figured it would work best that way =) Quinn chose to sing Pau's part on top of the lead guitars because shes a TANK and can handle both at once!!
I took a reaction video of Only 19 to task about his incorrect, inaccurate and insensitive quibbles about the lyrics. Have never seen him on RU-vid again. Do not mess with this song.
Hi Todd, I love Olivia and her bestie Karen. How about I confuse you even MORE with a young female singer who can cover Olivia and Karen and has sung the Burt Bacharach & Hal David Medley as originally sung by Carpenters! Talk about hitting all the bases. Oh and for further confusion, you’re wearing a Beatles shirt, something she often does in her videos. She also covers Beatles songs, together and separately. Her latest Short video is All Things Must Pass by George. Has she hit all your bases, yet? She hasn’t done Allie, … yet. It’s absolutely in her wheelhouse. What I’m leaving for you below is her most recent full cover. It’s; Suddenly from Xanadu. Originally by Olivia And Cliff Richard. This is by Tori Holub (Ha Lubb) and Dan Wesley. Tori is currently 21 and is a Carpenters super-fan, has honored ONJ numerous times with tributes on her passing and anniversaries. Same with Karen. This is not your usual 21 year old woman. Oh yeah, she can sing Alto/Contralto to cover Karen and Soprano for ONJ. I know you will know all my references so all there is to do is watch and go into shock. This one is only baby shock. If you like this, We’ve Only Just Begun is next and that’s the one for the big shock. 😊 Joe Suddenly: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XrKi9pbpDAI.htmlsi=Rq8wGJ5asoG48g77 .
