Hi, I'm Sydney!! 🧚♀️ I'm a 27 year old full time artist, content creator, and small business owner. This channel is like a time capsule of all the in-between moments of my life and everything that's involved with being a full time artist! My main goal with this channel is to help and inspire you to create the life you want & envision for yourself, because you absolutely can!! While documenting the journey of creating mine. Thanks for checking out my channel & be sure to "vibe & subscribe" if you like what you see! I'm so glad you're here.✨
Are there any mediums or solvents that can be mixed with paints and jarred to keep them from drying out? If so, can they be heat set for faster curing ?
Awe thanks so much Timothy. 🥹 I really appreciate it. I’m so glad to see you still here, lots of changes over here but coming back with new videos soon 🤗
I like to spraypaint the back of the glass gray, as a mid tone, and put it back in the frame, and cover the back with duct tape. The frame keeps it more durable, and i can bring it over the road with me in my truck without worrying that it'll break.
Thank you so much for making this video. I learned so much about mediums by viewing it. Quick question… I noticed that you used an “Artisan” water soluble oil paint for part of your demonstration. Is this something you use often in your work and do you use water as a solvent when using it? Thank you again for creating this video!
Heyy I appreciate it! So glad you were able to take something away from this video!! I don’t use water soluble oil paints often at all in my work, in fact I believe I only have a couple tubes of it in my arsenal lol however you can use it in conjunction with oil paints that are oil based, along with different mediums and solvents and it won’t mess up your painting. You can also use water to dilute it but for the sake of this demonstration I used a variety of mediums to show the difference effects you can still make with a water soluble oil paint. Hope this helps!
Definitely one of the best RU-vid oil medium tutorials. Love the detailed analysis and time taken to create this video in an easy to understand and is artistically created which really created a mesmerizing affect. This video deserves way more views. Thank you! Also… just can’t get over your eyes! Water sign? Hope you’re doing well 😊 Annnnd I almost forgot that you’re the first person I’ve heard about lavender oil from! I have to get this cause…. Who doesn’t love lavender?? 😂
Aw thank you so much for the positive feedback and words of encouragement! I truly appreciate it and I’m grateful you found this video to be helpful!! Also thanks, I am a water sign lol Pisces 💦 yourself?! Yes the spike oil is my fav, little pricey but last me a looong time and totally worth it in my opinion.
I always wanted to start a small business just because i love packing things 😂😂 I am even learning resin art right now and seeing you pack such beautiful pieces motivates me so much. Do you dry your flowers and fruits yourself or you order it from some place else?
Awe I love that so much! Thank you. Absolutely pursue it if it brings you joy! I also love nearly every aspect of running an art business and that’s how I knew it’d be a good career path for me. I ordered the dried fruits and pressed flowers from Amazon, but I would like to dehydrated some fruit myself to add a little more variety to my coasters. The ones from Amazon work great tho, I’d just say to try and use the fruit kinda quickly because some of my kiwis and apples started to brown lol
Thank you so much for this. Your smooth voice/personality was refreshing. I could really listen to your content. So many other videos that had great information but their “too peppy” voices were jarring and I just couldn’t listen to them for too long. I have a much more clear understanding of mediums and solvents after your lesson. I will review this video multiple times to soak it all in. Thank you.
I would add a solid drop of Cobalt Drier to the bottle of Megilp to speed the drying but only 1 drop for the amount yoj had in that bottle. more for a larger bottle.1 drop per 4 oz.
Hi, I bought a tube of gambling free gel, my question is: Can I start the first layer using pure oil paint out of the tube and after it dries I paint the next layer with gel added to my paint? And can add a layer of pure paint over the Layer that gel added to paint without breaking the fat over lean role? It is confusing that the gel is both fat and fast dry.
@@sydneyreneeart Wild horses can't keep me from your videos 🙂 I have been using underpaintings for many years now. They are a wonderful way to break the complexity of a painting into manageable parts. I love it when artists let the underpainting poke through as you did in this painting. Lately, I have been exploring the use of transparent oil paints over lighter opaque passages, fascinating stuff.
@@TimothyJohnLukeSmithPSA so sweeet! It certainly does make the process a whole lot more manageable, I’m surprised it took me so long to implement it into my paintings. Glad you liked the way this one turned out!! Yes transparent colors are wonderful for glazing as well. I like combining both. You have some incredible works of art!!
Hi Sydney, I thoroughly enjoyed this painting demonstration. Your knowledge of painting the waves and the way that the light bounces off them is inspiring. You definitely see blue better than most artists. Is there a chance any of these small gems will become large paintings? I can see them being hugely successful. Happy Independence Day :)
So glad you are enjoying this series Tim! My appreciation for your consistent encouragement and always taking the time out of your week to tune in really means a lot to me! I do plan on making a larger piece (especially of something like this one) I feel as thought I paint way more clean with oil paints 😂 these examples look a little beginner to me trying to work with acrylics again lol Unfortunately I feel as though I’ll have to put a little pause on this sketchbook series (hopefully for only a month or so) as I need to utilize my time to finish more original paintings & commissions atm. I love creating these videos but dang does it take a lot of time out of my week! Can’t wait to reach a point we’re I can better manage all the task as an artist, you seem to have a consistent flow with your channel and that’s definitely Inspiring to me!
@@sydneyreneeart You are doing extremely well with your channel. Continue to go at your pace. Editing videos are like a time vortex :) I stay consistent with a weekly livestream, no editing, and slowly it helps to create a community. I sprinkle recorded videos here and there.
@@TimothyJohnLukeSmithPSA thank you so much for the advise, I will definitely look into the live-streaming. That’s something I haven’t thought about yet! Thank you for the continuous encouragement 🙏🏻
Hey love!! Doing okay, going with the flow of life 🌊 I’m sorry to hear that, healing takes time but you always come back stronger! Glad you like the painting! 🌴
@@sydneyreneeart hey love 😁 thank you for you,re kind words😭 i wonder how long it takes cause it realy hurts😭💔 and its not even our fault. My parents don,t want it😭💔
@@lifeismusicparnadonkers I don’t think you can put a time stamp of recovering from pain, it just slowly does get better and work itself out. Even if it’s hard to see it now, everything is temporary. But I’m very deeply sorry to hear you and your family are hurting. Keep your head up girlfriend. Just try to keep doing the things that bring joy and purpose to your life, like painting✨
Hi Sydney, the beautiful presentation, camera work, sound, and music are perfect! Your mastery of acrylic paint is refreshing and impressive at the same time. I lived in Kissimmee, Florida for 8 years and you captured the tropical landscape 🌴🌴🌴and its impression so well. This is going to be one extremely precious sketchbook when you fill it up completely.
Thank you so much Tim!! I’m happy to hear you’re enjoy the videos and production quality. Love the feedback because I’m really just winging it when it comes to these videos 😂 and painting with acrylics is definitely a challenge / change of technique for me compared to how I approach oil painting, so “Mastery” is certainly a flattering term describing my use of the medium lol aww I’ve been to Kissimmee, absolutely adore Florida! How awesome 🙌🏻 thank you thank you thank you as always 🥰
Fantastic tutorial! Your keen knowledge of the different types of paintbrushes and how to utilize them during your painting process is enlightening. How you go from oil painting to acrylic painting in your art is extraordinary and inspiring. What I get from this painting is the visual beauty and poetry of the ocean but also its vastness and danger if we don't respect the power of the sea. Thank you for sharing your inspiration with the world.
Awe thank you so much for the endless support and encouragement Tim!! I appreciate that’s so much 🙏🏻 I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial!! And yes so true, we have to take care of and respect our oceans!! 🌊
I admire that you are able to create your environment from your unique vision. That is such a powerful talent. The gnomes and red-haired fairy are such beautiful accents. Your art and your videos are extremely creative, informative, and needed. If anything I can ever do to boost your channel, please let me know.
I feel like I don’t even have the words to express how eternally grateful I am for you, you coming back time and time again to not only watch my videos but also being one of few to ever comment means the world to me 🥹 I’m so glad you’re enjoying! How generous of an offer from you! I’ve been trying really hard to get this channel more views in hopes to one day monetize and do what I love full-time. Maybe a page shout out to your viewers if it’s not to much to ask? Only if that’s genuinely something you’d like to do and on brand for you. By no means feel any obligation or pressure, I hate asking for any help lol I’m just happy to have you hear!✨
@@sydneyreneeart Hi Sydney, It would be my honor to give several shout-outs on my channel. I don't have a huge channel but exposure to my subscribers could bring your talent to a wider audience (people need to see how great you are). In the past 6 months, I have been pivoting my channel to include oil painting, pastels, and tech for artists. I feel our channel brands align well. In the future, would you be up for a collab video? We could throw some ideas off one another in the next few weeks. Your channel will take off and become much bigger than mine. I am glad that I can maybe help you a little in the early going. You are working so hard and you deserve the boost.

Hello Sydney Renee Art. How are you doing girl? I dicided that i paint whit oils and watercolours. No acrylic paint. I feel comfy whit oil paint and watercolours and they go,s eazier than acrylic painting. I painted whit them yesterday amazing😱 i never thought that i would love oil paints so mutch. I love them more than acrylic,s. I wanna try pebeo watercolour paint. My oil paints and my watercolour,s are from the Brand Pebeo. I am in love that paint brand. You get so mutch oil more than gamblin. Pebeo oil paint tubes are 200 ml. Those oil tubes are huge. I paint whit walnut oil alkyd medium and to clean my oil brushes i use safflower oil. Hope you,re doing good and that you do what you love. 👋🏾🫶🏾🖐🏾👍🏾 i,ll suport you all the way girlfriend 😁✌🏾🖐🏾🫶🏾👋🏾

Suporting you all the way from the sweetest girl ever. I am sweet as hell😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂love ya girl
I did not see this video until now. Sydney, this is above and beyond amazing! Your talent is like those cherry blossoms, expanding before our eyes with intense beauty. You are so brave to take on a monumental commission. I never did a mural and I imagine there are very particular challenges with a huge wall as opposed to a canvas. You pulled it off with flying colors. Thank you again for your inspiration.
Hello Sydney Renee Art. How are you doing? My dad says i can have the attic for my painting but my mom does the lundry up there so yeah i am doubting. But the attic is a great space for painting and myby starting a buisness? I have to put a pin in that cause i don,t know how i am gonna do it. Do you have whatsapp btw? We could talk and share our art. I love you,re living space too. You have a wonderfull studio space love omg😱I wished i could visit you and see you,re amazing studio love😊Hope you,re doing well girl friend and hope you we get to talk soon❤🫶🏾💋✌🏾👋🏾🖐🏾
