Thanks for the read! I’m still a forum guy at heart. But I do acknowledge that the average attention span is waning for things like reading. I’m planning on making some better E30 videos in 2024. Hope to do an overview and also a track shakedown.
Do you mean the additional rear brake lights? I used the rear fog light positions for those. Just grab a positive contact from a spare set of taillights and splice into brake light wire in the bulb holder.
thanks you i'm maybe buying a e36 convertible (I wait for him to lower the price since he don't want to negociate and overprice it) and i didnt knew if the convertible and coupe tail lights were the same or differents size like the sedan. Now i know its the same thanks you
Far from scrap my friend! Have put another 22k on it since this video. It's now turbocharged as well. Dropping the subframe and replacing the gas tank this winter.
Hi guys i need help,i just bought engine m52 for my e30. But the engine can crank but there didnt have injector pulse. There have postive currento but didnt have negative current pulse same goes coil plug also.I already changed crank sensor.Hope u guy help me thanks.God bless you
@@davidsilas6590 I believe it's tuned out if you're keeping the original BMW ECU. I went with a standalone ECU and made my own wiring harness from scratch.
The logo comes off with some solvent. Voltage display is a small 7-segment from eBay. Wideband is an Innovate unit. Cut it apart, desoldered the display from the board, and extended with wires to fit inside the defrost switch. Pictures in the build thread.
Wow thats a lot of work and I love that color. How long have you had it, I just turned 30 yrs ownership of my 90 325IS and will some day pass it on to my son.
30 Years! That is amazing! Thank you for taking such good care of it. Do you have any pictures you could share? I’ve owned mine for 10 Years this spring. 🙂
@@ManualEnthusiasts yes give me your email address. I just got done with paint and re dye the interior, having rims machined next then I'll clear the rims and be done.
Thanks man! It’s been a journey for sure. I’ll never sell the car. So God willing I’ll be blessed with a lifetime of enjoyment. However long that may be! 🙂
it's so nice to know your machine this well, when you drive it you can feel it all, at least I could, what year engine did you put in it, looks like my 1992 325is engine, except my oil fill cap is nearer the firewall on mine.
Absolutely. I tried to drive it each summer, although I missed a year or two in there. Every restored or modified piece changes how it feels. Engine is an iron block M52B28 from a 1996 328i
i don't know where you get that number, my engine bay sticker says Engine Family NBM2.5V5F362, IT'S GOT TO BE CLOSE, EXCEPT FOR ALL THAT BOOST YOU GET!!!@@ManualEnthusiasts
Shift speed is generally limited by the transmission and synchronizers. A lighter flywheel does let the engine speed come up quicker on a throttle blip when downshifting.
@@ManualEnthusiasts that’s actually what I was referring to, either throttle blips or faster dropping revs. In my case the heavier flywheel does not allow the engine speed to go down quickly enough to match gear speeds, thus putting stress on the (stock) clutch. I am sure that problem can be solved with a good clutch and flywheel combo tho
Originally used a 16" Spal 30101517 pusher fan (in this video). Later switched to a thinner SPAL (16" - 30100401) to fit between the rad and intercooler. Gauge is a VDO Vision Black series.
Haha you noticed the 2k idle as well? 😆 Got it all sorted after I actually had coolant in the block and could idle at operating temperature. Yes running an MS3X. Tuned it all myself N/A and then again now that it’s turbocharged!
Yes, I need to get some decent footage. Made a lot of changes to the rear end over the winter to help with wheel hop! Getting the car PPF coated soon, then some track time is in order for a test & tune at speed. Will bring the GoPro along!
Impossible to say without a back-to-back comparison. I wouldn’t expect it to make a noticeable difference. It’s more about free rev speed / shifting feel.
The tune is too rich in some areas like cold starts. There is likely also a weak coil pack. I changed out the plugs and now it only misses on winter/cold starts.
Can get away with it on an iron block engine for a short test. There is a risk of hot spotting especially when the block is totally dry. The water pump is also not being lubricated. As said by others, it’s nice for a quick test if things need to come apart again. It’s a calculated risk.
It's temporary, just clamped into place after the muffler. I have a Kamei 2-piece rear valance to fit first before I can finalize the exhaust exit/tip.
HI there, nice test! What is the ambient temp? If it's there, I think I missed it. Where I live it could get around 120F. I have a W124 and I swapped the mechanical engine fan with an electric from a Chinese car manufacturer called Geely (OEM part, even if Chinese). It runs at two speeds and I kept the aux fans as well. High speed is noisy so it's a bonus to have a quieter low speed to minimize noise. Swap was done at the end of the hot season so not sure how it performs in those hot days yet. If SPAL provides 2-speed fans I might give it a try if my setup doesn't do great by then.
I didn't record the ambient temperature, sorry. Interesting about the two speed fan. Would definitely be a good idea on a car with a quiet exhaust system.
Custom Level Motorsports Twin Scroll Tubular Exhaust Manifold. Custom 3" turboback exhaust. Magnaflow straight-through muffler in this video. Have since switched to a Dynomax Super Turbo.
Hi! Beautiful build! What size are your wheels? I have just purchased BBS RZ 15' but have not received them yet and want to know how they would look. thanks.
Thank you! Well that all depends on which wires! Engine harness is custom and tucked behind the head. Main power wires were relocated inside the car. Chassis harness was thinned out and tucked up under fender lip. Details in my build thread e30.panici.ca
