My name is Scott Shetler and I am the owner of Extreme Performance Training Systems, a sport performance and fitness training center in Atlanta, GA.

I have worked in the fitness, health, and strength and conditioning industry for over 22 years. I train athletes of all levels of competition from many sports as well as health and fitness enthusiasts. Through this RU-vid channel I hope to share the experience I've gained from over two decades, and nearly 50,000 hours, of helping individuals accomplish their health, fitness, and sport performance goals.

In addition to training my clients and athletes, I have self-published numerous books on fitness and strength training including a book I co-authored with Stic, of the hip hop duo Dead Prez, where we worked together to accomplish his goal of building 20lbs of muscle on a plant-based diet.

I have competed in powerlifting and kettlebell sport, and am a student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and student/teacher of Taijiquan.

I'm new to this, but I think actually wearing the gi while working out would help. Anyone whose ever been to a fire academy will tell you there's a world of difference when putting out with turnout gear on vs T shirt and gym shorts.

21.00 comfort zones: hey stic, how has the martial arts, discipline and struggles overcoming poverty, yet in the last twenty plus year journey towards socially and systematic oppression, without dwelling on the past, how do you feel about the macro/global injustices still today? Do you fear they have become unstoppable and taking the Elon musk POV of “it’s too late...” stance. I say this because many of the youth and middle age today are at this point... how can we still overcome in a time of our unique place in spatial time and cosmic time. The industrial Revolution was inexplicably the most important time of mankind until now. We are moving from Information Age to. Augmented AI age

Great idea, but it is way overpriced. The price of clubs has fallen now - you can get a whole set for around $35 each club and still spend less than this Adex costs ($260). They need to sort out their price point. But I guess they don't have any competition.

What kind of weight would you use, say in comparison to a standing KB press?
@ScottShetler
@ScottShetler 5 лет назад
Great question, it's tough to say because everyone is different and the limiting factor on this may be torso strength. To use myself as an example I can easily press 24kg bells for reps standing up but generally use the 16kg bells for this drill for a similar number of reps.

Hi Scott, do you recommend a time of day for this type of training? After jits, before? Does it matter? Also are those misfit grappling shorts for sale?
@ScottShetler
@ScottShetler 5 лет назад
Hi Eric, great question! The short answer is do it whenever you are most likely to be able to stay consistent with it. That being said we do our lifting immediately following jiu jitsu class. Over the years some of my athletes like to do their strength and conditioning right before BJJ training so they are in a fatigued state and have to emphasize their technical game. If you are trying to make serious improvements in strength I would try to separate the two so you can train both when you're recovered, or if you don't train martial arts every day you could do strength work on non-BJJ days. There are many ways to slice it up, but like I said, consistency is the most important thing as is making sure your physical preparation is enhancing your martial arts and not taking away from it. Shoot me an email at scott@eptsgym.com and I'll get you the details on the shorts. Thanks!

does the pressure of the grip change/intensify at any point of the swing?
@ScottShetler
@ScottShetler 7 лет назад
At EveryMeal yes when the club is extended the grip loosens and I usually point my pointer finger down the club handle. When the club is perpendicular to the forearm the grip is closed and tighter. Thanks!

Awesome video Brother. Lots of good information. I've been doing rack pulls incorrectly for years. I never really though about performing the rack pull to match the position your body would be in during that portion of the actual deadlift.
