What was the name of the original song from the 80's that inspired this song . I remember the line " sometimes i get scared and I'm afraid I like it " it was popular in the mid 80's.
This might mean nothing to anyone but here goes: I just cannot listen to anything that I don't think is great... because music heads straight for my soul, and that's something that won't put up with crap... I LISTENED TO THIS ALL THE WAY THROUGH and felt better for the experience... made me think of the fragility of life, beauty and creation... and how lucky we should count ourselves to have everything that we care about. I recently lost my dog (my best friend)... so I think I know what I mean!
I can't believe the naivety of some people commenting on this... "Humanity has gone to hell" really? because of this? It's alright if you don't like the tune, but blaming the (admittedly) failing human race on this song and the artists? Sorry bud, you're flat out fucking wrong. J & A are musical geniuses, and music isn't always about the listener. Sometimes it's about the composer. Stop being so quick to point the finger, and be so vien. Keep your obnoxious ass opinion to yourself.
what is this fucking garbage? Music, art, movies,it's all garbage now. Experimental my ass.Avant gard? what's avant garde about making noise and nonsense crappy loops? Humanity is going to hell, no doubt about it.To think people actually like this shit.
@FeinaMusic Why don't you make one then, I bet you there is a lot more to this then you think, a lot more thinking, a lot more passion, people make songs for a reason, if you don't like it don't listen, but don't fucking sit there and tell us how you think a song sounds, to each their own, but I don't give a fuck about yours.
I don't know if I think this is very beautiful because Jónsi and Alex are such beautiful humans or because it really is beautiful. Maybe it's the same thing? But I know I like the colors very much and I appreciate uploaders broad mind, thanks for not getting angry ;)
This is exactly what John Cage was talking about when he said that beauty is in the ear of the listener. Some people think it's amazing music and others think it's shit. That's when you ask yourself 'what is beauty?' 'who am i to decide what is beautiful?' etc. When you realise that it's a matter of subjectivity, and is based on previous musical experiences and your current mindset, you might come to appreciate this song. Even if it's just a conceptual appreciation.
@rastakuere This is nothing like anything I've heard in music. I like the subtle shifts in melody. It's a unique shift in ambient and I give Jonsi and Alex props for pushing the genre into an uncomfortable rarely approached area instead of just accepting what is alllllways played. It's refreshing.
@sukini3 I'm not bagging on their work. I was simply stating my opinion, which is that I don't consider this music, and I disagree with all the dipshits who are calling this "emotion."
@YExoticCreature hey hey i agree with you and i dont even really consider this music but that doesnt give either of us the right to bag on their work, i mean at least i can respect that they are getting songs out
@YExoticCreature I'ts your point of view, I respect that. Now where's the "truth" Id on't know, do you ? This apart, you can't ignore that there is a melody in this noise, to not hear it is a choice...
You can call this emotional all you want, but it's nothing but noise. I've heard some true, deep and beautiful music and it's not this nor is it the stuff that's "commercial driven."
Pushing the boundaries as always, known this track for about 2 years now and it still amazes me when i hear it, its just so good, proof that music doesn't have to be commercial driven wank fodder for pervs!
It's weird, new, weird in a good way. I understand how they love crackling records because it feels homey and cosy like a warm cocoon. And for me it's like you have to sing over it, make up your own song to the song. If that sounds confusing. No music has to sound the same way, and this is almost speaking for itself. Its quite clever how the music starts again when she throws the stone back into the water. Very smart. I like these artists, and If you don't like it then you don't like it.
