Came here as I was considering buying one of these from TLC. I don’t like how far back the buttons are. Did you find the ergonomics of it to be an issue?
Hi Adam, if the screwdriver is used just for situations where excessive screwing is required it is a time saver but I wouldn’t recommend it for intermittent smaller jobs. Cheers
Hi, starting from scratch with no experience it can take up to 2-3 years from start to finish for the full process. And yes, this would be recognised across Europe but you may need to take internal exams when you get to other countries outside Europe.Hope that helps.
@@TheWanderer1111 Yes you're absolutely correct, being in a position to be working in the industry is essential after you gain your Level 2 & 3. If you ask your instructors whilst working on the initial qualification then they may be able to give you some ideas on how to do this.
@@DMUKAdventures We do but these are within our online course I'm afraid. This video is just one of the Learning Outcomes in Unit 202 (as you'll be aware) to demonstrate the structure and detail of our Courses. You can find out more about our Level 2 Unit Courses on our website at www.xstraining.com/city-guilds-2365-level-2-diploma-in-electrical-installations/
Hi there, I've got my qualifications outside the uk, have an experience of 6 years plus in the field, however my Naric statement of comparability certificate is equivalent to RQF level 6 which is bachelor's degree in electrical and power engineering. I wish to do NVQ level 3 in Electrical engineering so as to become a full electrician can you give me more of inside please. I've also been a classroom teacher in a college and university in the the same field for over a period of 5 years plus.
No sorry, we just have the one Test & Training Centre in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Most of our Courses are Online but if there's a practical lesson within the qualification then that will usually take place here.
This is the sequence I prefer and what I was taught, however I’ve seen a few sparky’s recently saying the AM2 pre documents say you have to start on L1 to L2. So if I do this procedure (which I prefer) will that be acceptable on my AM2?
Please ask the centre if you are ok to do safe isolation in a safe manner and start on E - N. If they state you must start on L1 to L2 then go with what they wish. To be honest, as long you cover all 10 tests it doesn’t matter which way you do it. The way I show it is just good practice.
Hi, to achieve your NVQ you need to be working in the trade so you can gain experience and evidence for your portfolio. Gaining electrical experience is key and the NVQ must not be rushed.
Hi, thanks for your questions about our courses. The NVQ have three different price bands depending upon if you want to add the AM2 and Prep Course from the outset. You can find more about the NVQ 2357 qualification (inc. pricing) here - www.xstraining.com/nvq-2357-electrical-installation-course/ The AM2 Prep Course is available in two options - 14-day Access Only & a Full Year's access. You can find out more about this Course and the different price bands here - www.xstraining.com/online-am2-preparation-course/ Please do get in touch through the Contact details on our website if you have any further questions. Thank you
Ask as many questions as you can early on. Specifically on site where you will learn so much in such little time. If you don't ask the questions early, you miss vital information which leads to nothing else making sense. No question is a stupid question!!
Hi Kacey, thanks for the message. I have spoken to my colleagues and this can be done either externally and internally on site. However, the some AM2 centres prefer this to be done internally which I know is a bit fiddly. The only reason you would normally do it on the inside is to ensure the gland stays at the relative IP rating. Therefore, try do it internally. You wont fail if done as the video shows. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your comments. Yes we do a lot of our courses online with the addition of in-house sessions to bridge any concerns. Foe example, the 2391-52 Inspection and testing. You get 6 months access to the online content, then you come into centre for the 3 days of prep and exams. All the health and Safety etc can be done online prior to coming in. Contact me on 08001700294 if you need more info.
most important lesson here for sparks...just strip off the cable and throw it on the ground - there should always be a generous layer of crap left behind when you've completed the job
Electricians do get some stick for not being the tidiest on site. We believe, having a tidy working area highlights professionalism and care for your work.
@dylanmckibbin8822 The full process is included in the full AM2 preparation course. Please sign onto our XS Training Academy and you can purchase the full course. Cheers
@wasswambowa8572 Can you be more specific? I am more than happy to do this with more info. Is this for the AM2? Is this into an isolator or motor? Thanks.
@@wasswambowa8572 The glanding process is included in the full course. Please sign onto our XS Training Academy and you can purchase the full course there. Cheers
Really appreciate your message. The AM2 preparation course is great for steadying the nerves and giving you the best chance of showing your skills off to NET. Well done for passing the AM2
@@XSTrainingLtd will do thank you, I've done my NVQ with you guys and you've been brilliant, you've made it straight forward, the ease of taking pictures and uploading them for the E Portfolio is a big plus, also you're assessors are very knowldgeable as well, I personaly had a good experience with you, it's a shame you're not in London, I would've went with you to do the AM2 and Pre training as well before the exam

Hi, I can't find the DCF680. I have located a similar product in the Dewalt range. Is this it? - DCF682N1 8V MAX Gyroscopic Inline Screwdriver by DEWALT
Hi Levent, Zubar doesn't have access to answer this directly but, from memory, he didn't have these exact qualifications because he came to the UK with lots of practical experience within the industry and qualifications relevant to the countries he worked in which were acceptable to City & Guilds
Personally found ex forces that go into construction are the most opinionated individuals you can work with or choose not to unfortunately…especially if they go into health and safety 😮
Hi Joel apologies for the delayed response... Yes, there will be a wiring diagram to hand in the AM2 for the learner to follow step by step. Happy New Year and all the best for your AM2 when you come t take it!
Hi .Great videos 😃👍just bought Am2 preparation course from you. Could you tell me how many cores does your flex have from the solar controller to main control box please? From the video looks like you are using 3cores (L,N,E). What about connection between R2- in the solar controller and no16 in the main control box? Thank you for your help.much appreciated
Hi Monika, thanks for purchasing the AM2 Preparation course and thank you too for bringing this to our attention. Yes, a 4 core is required due to a change in spec and we will update the video in the course as soon as we possibly can. Many thanks once again Monika, much appreciated.
Hi Clayton, thanks for your question. It all depends on where you are isolating. In this video the incoming supply to the whole board is isolated. Some videos just isolate the main switch to the board so will test the top of the main switch. Hope that helps.
Great point, I shall add this to the video, as we can also get an external supply from PV sources coming in from elsewhere etc. Thank you for your comment.
Hi Ryan, thanks for your question. This would be a visual check. The basic testing equipment would only tell you what the fault is. If you wanted to check this on site a TDR would be needed. A fluke would tell you if the fault was near or far end. Hope that helps
wrong, please tell me how you can prove isolation when you have not proved its live in the first place this is a fundamental error all safe isolation procedures have, test its live first
This could only be actioned if the installation was live in the first place. The method shown in the video is for all installations which proves dead by showing zero volts on an AVI, and then proceeding to prove the AVI is working on a proving unit. This confirms that when testing dead in the first place, these results were accurate. I will add to the video the need of checking live first where possible. I like you’re thinking and really appreciate your comments, as if you checked dead on something that was already switched off, this could be assumed to be fed from a certain point, but could become energised from another source at a later date within the job.
good vid , 1 question - i qualified via jib apprentaship in 95 236 part 1-2 am2 , i dropped out of the game , 2023 recently i wanted to get back into the electrician game , i opened a ecs account and put my national insurance number in to the ecs site and they confirmed i was eligible for a gold card !! which i got , problem is i dont have any experience in the modern game and dont want to chance it , so i asked a few sparky people if i could go on site as an improver to slowly get back in the game, i was told that esc will strip me of the gold card if i do that , do you have a any info on this situation ?
