You cannot eliminate poverty unless you alter their culture. Ya see, they do not have Social Security or anything like that, so the people have large families in the hopes that the children will care for the parents in their old age. This does two harmful things, 1) the parent's posessions are divided among many people, and 2) the children spend their life energy caring for the parent's and they take that energy to the grave. In the West, the parents put their life energy into their children, sending them to school and college (not to work at age 6), and then retire on their own savings (government got involved but that's a seperate issue). As long as kids are the retirement plan, there is no escape from the cycle, then engire that creates poverty.
