Hi Jason the fires have been a tragedy, my heart goes out to you. You have a great spirit and personality, I can see you are hurting while you try to help others. Try and look after your own interests for recovery first otherwise you won't be able to help others. I guess time will help, don't loose hope. Best regards Brian
17:40 This is rather interesting. The Low G String for Ukulele is designed like the Bass Strings of a Classical Guitar set in that it consists of a Nylon Core wrapped in Metal (A Classical Guitar D String makes a great Low G Ukulele string too).
Aloha Jason! I love that you have visual directions along with audio for all of us verbally challenged folks that have trouble following written instructions. Congratulations on your new location. Much Aloha to you my friend.
AlohaJason! My name’s Gagan and you taught me how to play (3 weeks back) Love to see your shop’s location on this yt short here too! Makes me miss Maui a bit :) hope you’re all doing well
It's February now, but I just checked in on your site and saw that you posted a couple new videos. Thank you for the update Jason. The video with you and JJ was awesome. I'm going to check out the Kanakapila Project that you spoke about in your video. Be safe, take care of your family, friends, yourself.... and allow them to take care of you too! You are an inspiration! Much Love and Prayers to you.
Oh my Gosh the Hawaii waves are so soothing and healing💖 Your voice is too❣️ Tears of healing joy just began to flow down my cheeks from your music talent synergy 🥰 I can't wait to come back and see you and buy my own magic ukulele 💖
You are the first person that has done an excellent job of showing how to put on the strings in addition to the low g. Everyone else turns it to hygiene but says they're putting on a low G which does not make any sense period so good for you thank you so much what strings did you put on?❤
Aloha Jason….glad to hear you are well but so sad about Lahaina. Like many others, bought my first ukulele, a Kamaka tenor which is my most favorite. Hope you will build back. Stay safe and well! Maui no ka oi!
The love you share is amazing. As an old lady tourist on my many visits you drew me in with your music, heart and empathy. You enriched Max Angel Becerra with your directed Aloha. I miss y’all❤
Aloha! Yes, unfortunately I kept all of my ukuleles (and guitars and bass guitars) at the store where they were "safe" behind the alarm system. Oh well. So... lost my dad's ukes, lost my wife's instruments, ugh. But, we didn't lose our lives, so we have much reason to be grateful. The two ukes featured in this video (my dad's kamaka, and my son's mango koaloha) are both lost. Mine burned in the store, my son's burned in his residence, along with everything else he had except what he was wearing and driving as he escaped town. We are grateful he escaped, and our crew made it out safely.
Good to see you smiling again and laughing you have a great laugh just makes me smile I know this was last year but doesn’t matter Keep bringing the ukulele love God Bless you and Beautiful Lahaina ❤🙏🏻
Jason, Bless you my friend. I am so relieved to know that you, Vania and JJ were not taken by the fires as so many were. You have a giant heart full of love and I wish you and your family a full recovery from the devastating loss.
Mahalo! Still studying how JJ plays. Last year he spent about an hour with Brian Tolentino and I haven't been able to catch him since. Brian is amazing, and JJ was still just assimilating those skills into his playing when we filmed this last year. - jason
Thanks guys, you made my night here in Lynnwood, north of Seattle. Jason sold me my Kala spruce top 2 years ago and I'm still playing. So sorry for your situation but good to see your recent videos. My brother is currently on Maui, staying at the Papakaya up north. He wanted to keep his vacation plans to help in at least a small way. Uke on!
Jason - thanks for providing the update. Your book and videos have been mainstay in supporting my learning Ukulele and helping my grandkids also learn. I’ve been wondering how you have been doing - glad to hear you are doing well and making a difference for everyone there. Be well and stay strong! Positive thoughts and prayers are with you! 🙏
Aloha Jason! It's so good to see you in this video. I know it has been a long, hard season. I think about you often, and I continue to hear of the good work you are doing, with people who so need it. I pray for your ministry and continue to ask for the Lord's blessing on you and your family. Please continue to tell us how we can support you. Your Maryland connection, Lesu pu
Jason I didn’t know you had a channel! It’s so good to see you! Please tell Vania and JJ hi for us! We love you brother and are praying for you! ❤ Bryan and Kathy
Jason, Thank you for this update. I have not seen any videos from you in awhile . My thoughts and prayers are with you. When I woke up this morning, I thought of 12/7/41 , and how that also changed our lives. Take care . Peace and love. jeff
Hi Jason I just found your videos yesterday You have the best video on changing your strings All though I didn’t find your video before I ruined my strings hahaha Have another set I’ll get it right next time. I downloaded your book today. I’m watching your videos along with your book I’ve only just started my ukulele journey a couple of months ago I really like the way you teach so thank you God Bless you and all the people in Lahaina I’ll keep you in my prayers 🙏🏻
Mahalo! any other questions from the book, happy to answer. The string changing video was a challenge to film... wish I had a video professional! Aloha - jason
Aloha Jason, you are an inspiration and I appreciate all your videos you have available. I'm thankful you and your family is safe and I know exactly where you were at! When I was in Maui in October of this year, I walked in the same area! So beautiful! Looking forward to seeing you rebuild and I will be in touch for lessons from you. I'm still looking to get a Tenor ukulele and would love to have lessons from a person that expresses true Aloha. Mahalo Nui!
thank you for the encouragement. It is so sad to think of all of lahaina town as gone... some very small scale rebuild news coming, hope to release it soon - jason
I bought my first ukulele from you several years ago and I’ve played it nearly every day since then. I love it and it’s become a big part of my life. Mahalo Nui Jason. You’re an inspiration and I can’t wait to see what you build back.
So good to see you Jason. I bought a Kamaka ukelele from your store last summer by phone all the way from Indiana. I called your store and you did not know if I was serious on buying or not. But you were so kind as to lay out four of the same model and do a short video playing each one for me to decide on the one I liked. Each time I play my Kamaka now I think of how kind you were to help me pick out my Ukelele from Indiana. Prayers to you, your family and staff from the store. Thank you for sharing this video today.
Mahalo! Happy to have it back -- I had gotten sick and had had a weak voice for about 4 weeks prior to making this vid. So so happy to have it back! - jason
Jason, thank you for sharing your update. My wife and i started our Ukelele journey with you and your store. We will be back in Kaanapali in April. We'll look you and Max up. Be well.
Thank you for sharing. I’ve been thinking about you a lot. You started me on my ukulele journey with my first lesson. I have your amazing ukulele book and have watched your videos. You have brought joy to my life and I thank you for that. My prayers are with you.
I’m so glad to see you made it out of those fires!!! I’ve inspired me in your previous videos to buy my daughter a ukulele and learn how to play together. We traveled to Oahu a few weeks before the fires hit Maui, the situation broke our hearts. Stay strong, keep uplifting one another with your love and passion for music. Aloha all the way from Atlanta Ga. Will check out your site for cost on zoom lessons. 🤙🏽
I started my ukulele journey with the video from the hotel lesson, helped with your book. It is good to see you and find you doing alright although I can hear the pain in your voice. Keep strong, we haven't forgotten you in Canada. I have donated some before and will be again. I wish you, your son, and everyone in Lahaina the best. You are in our prayers.
So lovely to see you on here again Jason and pleased to hear you talking about the rebuilding of Lahaina. One day I am sure you will have a Ukulele store again. Sending love and hope to you and the people of Lahaina and Maowi from Portsmouth, UK.
Aloha! I do use my index... I find that many people use their index finger to a fault though, not using the other fingers as much as they could/should. Eventually you will need all four as you progress further, but I find that stability in the beginning is more important to learn.
