Great footage!! Who made it out of the harbor first? I've always thought it would be fun to be in a little kayak or row boat and briefly be "winning" the race. Also, tell team tips up that they have some explaining to do to my wife as to the root of my plans for 2026

Glad you enjoyed the footage. Last year we had 2 cameras on the water and this year we had a camera on land with a serious zoom. It's fun to change it up and get different footage. "Let's Wing It" was the first one out of the harbor or around Ogden Point. The race tracker from the official site let's you replay the race from a computer. At the bottom of the tracker screen change the date to Elapsed Time and you can get a playback of the race.

And he covered hundreds of miles in it from Port Townsend, Victoria then north and back to Port Townsend.

The 2024 race has started and 7 boats have ducked into the Dungeness Spit for protection. Based on the current forecast they will face similar conditions that can be seen in this video when they strike back out to cross to Victoria. Good luck racers!

Makes you wonder which is the most efficient, oars, pedal drive, or sculling

You actually could have a race to Alaska..... from Prince Rupert B.C.Canada

Hey..... ~. The Big Guy ~. absolutely needs to offer TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS to THREE CLASS's of participants. There's the big boat class: Corsair 780 or Dragonfly. You know they are going to win from the dock here. Very obvious. But then How about SOLO. So if you go it alone ~ That's another Class. And then TWO PERSON. So if you have two people that is another class. Somehow split things up. MOST of these people know that they will not win. Why bother?

I see a flexiable drive shaft.. those are great but they dont have the same efficiency.. Was this the best solution?

It's amazing to see what people come up with for this race. We have a dock walk video in the works that will show a little more detail on some of the boats. Stay tuned for that one.

Thanks for the posting! I wish we'd been in touch, we could have whipped up a leeboard for him!

I know, I am thinking next year to bring some lumber along we could donate if we come across a broken boat.
