I am an amateur Car Restorer learning as I go. I have a passion for resurrecting classic cars long forgotten and neglected. Follow along as I make mistakes and learn from them!
Hello Rusty, how are you hope you are fine! I have an 8Ba that is smoking thru the Oil tube, i saw yours on the very end your smoked a little thru that pipe, i tought that a new refresed rebuild engine that problem is gone, but seems 8ba smoke a little thru that, can you confirme that.
It is relatively common because it is venting from the valley. Excessive smoke would be more of a concern but in most cases it’s just due to oil burning off and venting out from engine heat. Mine was not a machined rebuild so it’s likely to happen in a refresh or a tired old engine.
All 1951 Crestliners made (8703) were produced from the remaining unused parts inventory from the 1950 Crestliners made (17601), the latter produced as a reply to the new Chevy BelAir coming for 1950, with 2-door hardtop and optional 2-speed PowerGlide transmission. The plot was concocted by Ford Co., because the 2-door hardtop Ford Victoria plus the new Ford-o-Matic 3-speed auto transmission would arrive only for 1951, and this way Ford would still have a trophy to use in this meantime to keep customers visiting Ford dealers. That's why Ford used superior and expensive fabrics for upholstery & finish in all Crestliners, which have helped them all become highpriced collectibles today if recovered to all original specs!
It’s a common old hotrod method to create a floor structure that is more than just sheet metal. It also allowed a more beefy way to tie the floor structure into the body. If I do another in the future I’d change to 1x2 tube to give a larger flat area for floor structure.
I used regular 2x6 but some pine would definitely be softer. I’m sure a harder wood is likely better but the glue is critical. If there is to be any splitting it will be highly unlikely that the structure would blow out and fail if the surfaces are glued together.
I couldn’t tell you exactly. It just depends on how high you want your go. Keep in mind your floor jack will only go so high so you’ll eventually max out. I ran into this problem
Some great tips there. I'm about to do a Model A 4 door roof. I'm thinking of making a frame up and stretch the vinyl, like a trampoline. Then I can put sealant around the roof and lower the pre-stretched vinyl on. Still deciding whether to nail it on like original, or glue it with seam sealer.
i really want to do something like this, BUT... i want to stretch it out and make it a 4 door to resemble a "suburban" and have a rear door or barn doors. at one time i had 2 1933 chevy trucks. i was wanting to put them together to make a crew cab, but ran into money issues so i sold them, and everything else i owned at the time, and lived in my pickup truck.
I realize this is an old video, but please buy a camera mount or similar. The Blair Witch camera shaking is making me literaly nauseous. The content is really great! I just can't deal with the old-school youtube selfie and camera wobbling.
nice work , but i don't think i would use copper lines for the brake system, that material is to soft for hydraulik pressure or ? just a thought , hmmmm . . . maaybe
I'm not "dreading" the installation of the top on my coupe as much as I was, after watching your install. Many thanks for taking the time to video it. -Bob
En las primeras series v8 hasta 8ba 8 rt las valvulas tenian el pie fe hongo y las guias eran partidas Esto que Ud muestra corresponde a 8ba no a 59 ab
I built a similar filter for a UVO project I had, except I took a length of fine copper mesh and rolled it up tight and fitted it into the suction tube. This gives it far more surface area, like the folds in an air filter and oil filter. Therefore allowing it to run a lot longer before clogging up. I have a 1985 Mitsubishi Pajero with 2.5 diesel engine. The engine has been rebuilt but not well cleaned in the water system so I'm having rust going back to the newly re-cored radiator. I also don't want to spend a stupid amount of money on an inline filter, so your video has given me inspiration to do a similar set up.
