I'm Jaclyn, the creative mind behind Signed Jaclyn. I live in Dalby, Qld Australia and I'm a mum of 2 teenage kids (17 and 14) and the wife to one EXCEPTIONAL husband.
I've always been a little creative, as a kid I was always doing something on the veranda, being making paper, pressing flowers, papier-mache, or painting little ceramic figurines.
As an adult, when I had my children I found my love of cake decorating by making their birthday cakes. I've been making and decorating cakes for over 15 years now.
At the beginning of 2019, I decided that it was time to redecorate the home that Adam, the kids and I have lived in for 14 years - to put my stamp of style on the house. This is when I really found my love of DIY and working with timber.
I love being able to pour my creativity into things, and it really does light the fire in my soul.
Follow me in my journey to redecorating our house, making signs, and crafting a life we love.
@@SignedJaclyn hi , I was thinking if the paper was thicker it wouldn't buckle. The art just comes out so so beautiful. I don't have the supplies yet but soon hopefully ill have them. Gosh, what an incredible method !!
@@Bowerbutterfly I’d love to see how you go with the watercolour paper. I have printed on watercolour paper, but I’ve not used the paint inlay method with the watercolour paper yet.
It’s a paint inlay, it’s a product from Iron Orchid Designs that is unlike anything else. When the dry paint on the carrier sheet touches the wet paint it reactivates and embeds itself into the paint. It’s typically used for furniture or decor items, however I wanted to try it with my paper crafts but to active it the carrier sheet needs to be wet and it would work trying to transfer it into paint of paper. Check out this video for more information from the IOD sisters. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sMtfQ_E3AXk.htmlsi=whktNdvq0wNn31MO

Thank you for sharing this! This is great and explains Geli Plate printing clearly! I’ve dabbled with them but have not had great results! I can’t wait to try it using paint inlays! Sister Stockiest in USA 🤗
You are so welcome!! I’m only new to Gelli printing, so my results too are a bit hit and miss. But I’m enjoying the joyful mess! Please let me know if you give it a go.
I am so glad I found you. Your directions are simple and to the point. I will be making a lot of what I just learned from watching you this weekend and am excited.
Hey there, love the projects. One question. What is the thickness of the pallet wood? Pallet wood comes in many thickness and no one on RU-vid ever mentions the thickness they are completing their project with. Thank you
Great beginner projects. Could probably be made with a hand saw and a borrowed drill. Your tray would be perfectly safe assuming the food will be on plates. I love the rustic look and will be making these. Just found your channel and subscribed. Looking forward to more. Watch your fingers around power equipment and always wear a good mask when sanding! Even outside.
I've made three planters very similar to the ones you've made. I added feet & drain holes, though. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ggeP8utqE9w.html
How do you deal with palette wood that is warped and uneven?? I don't have any fancy equipment to cut things to make it straighter. The only kind of saw that I have is a jigsaw and a handsaw. And a small power sander.
Hi, I think the work you are doing is great and I wish you every success. Just one thing, I make 3d key racks so have intricate and "pointy" corners to get into. I use a Dremel type tool with small sanding drum attachments, this makes it easier to sand the pieces flush and smooth. Used with the rasp it may make life easier? Hope this helps.
@@SignedJaclyn Hi Jaclyn, Take a look at the cheaper rotary tools on the web, Dremel way too expensive. I bought a cheap one from a local store some 23yrs ago. I still have it and it works perfect. It was a third of the price of the Dremel.
This was a great video! I learned alot about making that type of box :) I also seal my stencils - but usually use mod podge- didnt think about regular sealer- i will have to try that next time :) Off to watch your Valentines Video !
Thanks Jasmond! I seal my stencils with whatever the base colour is. So if it’s stained I will seal the stain first, apply the stencil and seal with the sealer. If it’s white, I seal with a layer of white paint, etc. I find it’s easier as I usually have it already on a brush/roller 😁
