I take exception with Mo Rocca saying Sondheim "resented" his mother. To the contrary, as told in many interviews, Sondheim's mother was cruel to him throughout his life and eventually told him she regretted having given birth to him. His treatment of her was what she deserved.
I kept wondering where I've seen her before when it suddenly hit me that she was part of Starkid productions. She played Bellatrix, and then Dean Thomas. Amazing to see her on Broadway now!
I just saw you in Beetlejuice and you were amazing. It was automatically like I was watching somebody I knew on stage. Absolutely coming to see you in this role. I saw Raul Esparza as Bobby at the Kennedy Center, and am anxious to see the gender switch. I know you will make it your own!
What an extraordinary gifted man who brought the human spirit to the stage with beautiful melancholy melodies and poignant lyrics capturing the all too fragile and strength of the human soul
Actors Without Scripts - The Musical. I’d love to see that happen on the stage. Patti and Stephen’s conversation inspired this idea because she didn’t have the words for how grateful she was to him.
There must be some invisible deep connection when someone writes the scores and the other sings.. To me, bigger than a friendship, relationship and courtship. I don’t know how the two of them feel, but I feel moved, head to toe, watching this.. 🙏🏼💯💖💋
@@rudypalma1250 Because, like they said, social pressure and norms in 1970 meant that nearly everyone felt pressured to fit cis-heteronormative norm of marriage by 30/35. It’s 2022 and the musical is set in the “modern day”. Millennials do not have that social pressure anymore. However, fear of dying alone does start to crop up in your 40s…
I think 35 applies more to a woman since that’s when the decision to have children - and whether or not that will involve love and a man, if you do want them - really needs to be given serious thought before it’s too late. Yet another one of the many ways life is less fair to women than it is to men.
