At the UC Berkeley's Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science, students not only become clinicians (OD) and researchers (PhD), but also complete our program with an understanding of the diseases they diagnose and the treatments they prescribe. We take pride in our ability to train technically proficient doctors and researchers who are also well educated in clinical and basic science.

Electric eye mask(cause you’re worth it and this isn’t going away, this is maintenance forever, so simplify). I don’t use my fingers- I use meibomian round gland expressers. They’re easy to clean and do a good job so I don’t have to express very often. I use silicone spoolies and OcuSoft foaming eyelid scrub. Moistened towelettes in my purse. And last but not least, the preservative free drops are good but I like to use the gel at night when I go to bed.
I’m so tired of dealing with this. It’s been going on for so long and nothing I do seems to help. My eyes watered for 5 months straight last year with no resolution in sight. I was so certain it was allergies and the watery eyes stopped when it got cold out and came back about 6 weeks ago. I’ve seen an allergist. I’ve seen an ophthalmologist and there’s so much trial and error and I’m so sick of it. The skin around my eyes is irritated so matter how much I try to keep it moisturized and clean. I don’t want to leave my house and go do anything but if I do, I better make sure I have certain things with me at all times because of it. I’ve tried so much and am getting nowhere.
As a professional tattoo artist tattooing on a daily basis Ive struggled 3 years in a row. First year 8 month my eyes were crying like crazy prone to infection redness irritation all the time. Ive tried all the know corticosteroids based eye drops and got severe allergic reactions from tobramycin.. This January after going to so many different private clinics because my condition was worse than ever.. One doctor recommended Tetracycline antibiotic for 10 days and the infection stoped. After that i used Dexagel for a month just one drop before bed. And i use iridium wipes on a daily basis when my eyes are itching like crazy.its been 4 months and my eyes are ok now and my eyesight is good as before. Only had problem when i drive many hours and night or be on the sun for to long without glasses!! Hope everyone gonna get some relief soon 🙏🏼

I dunno what mine is. It’s a small, now hardened bump on upper eyelid. Started a month ago. Sue blew up swollen. Since went down a lot. Prescription for antibiotics and eye drop steroids. Doctor said it was a preceptal cellutlitis. But it sucks it won’t go away. I’ve tried everything! Warm compress, oregano oil on eyelid, ACV, I dunno. It corresponds with always a lot of stress as I’ve had some other serious injuries/issues that affect me mentally and physically. Also moving in my parents attic room again (sucks,.. but life happens), and also staying at my girlfriends often who has two dogs and a cat in a small space. We added air purifiers to help. It’s also currently winter in PA where I’m from. Never been known to have dry eyes or allergies. But possibly. Could be weak immune system. Stress. Allergies? Also; it also coincides with going to a Sephora one day and unfortunately I went crazy on all these eye cream samples and put a ton on eyelid and everywhere. Heard it could be from retinol… either way it’s embarrassing. Looks like I have a droopy eyelid. Feel like Job in Bible. One thing after the other.
Be careful Daniel...that's how my MGD got started. As a teenager, I used an eye cream liberally on my eyelids. It seeped into my eyes and I never got the right treatment. My eyelids became swollen and soon thereafter I was diagnosed with MGD. You need to see an OPTHAMOLOGIST who specializes in meibomian gland disorder
I've spent years, time and A LOT of money (well over $250,000 in cash and insurance payments) trying to find out what's going on with my eyes - with no resolve. Only my through own research, and the willingness of others to share have I been and to get a clue to what may be going on. Thank you for this tutorial!
Still working on that. The warm compresses help. However, after 10 years of dealing with this by putting the recommended drops and treatments in my eyes, only to have them keep getting worse, I'm now trying putting nothing in my eyes to see if I can get them to build up the defense they once had. I haven't used eye drops in 4 months. I just rinse them with saline water. They haven't gotten better but they haven't gotten worse either.
@mimi18888 So sorry for what you're going through 😞. I'm suffering with Sjogren's syndrome. The docs want me to go on steroids and another highly recommended, yet ultimately organ destructive eye drop that begins with a "R"....Nope! Seeing as there's no reason or cure for the problem either, I've started deep research on it. Turns out it is possible to get it (for you too) to go into remission. You and I (and every once else who suffers from an autoimmune problem) need to figure out what health and diet routines will do that. Good luck! 🙏 🙏 🙏
@@thinkathena2 thank you so much I lost my job because of this :( and my mental health! Do u have some advice? I’m 35 and also losing eyelashes :( schirmer 2 I cannot leave the house
I remember waking up in the middle of the night not able to even open my eyes at first but finally getting them open only to feel like it was sand in them. One of the worst feelings and I didn't even want to go back to sleep afterwards. Now that Im starting tk feel like my eyes are getting try again I started uaing eyedrops. Perhaps I should use a eyemask as well and it should help.
For 2 months dry eyes I had. Very uncomfortable. I bought systane preservative free plus starting takeing vitamin a. Along with that fish oil vitamin. To my surprise one evening my eyes watered and dry eyes vanished. I think my routine opened up ducts and I haven't used even one eye drops now for 2 months. I am so very grateful. Hope this helps everybody.
Are heat compresses and eyelid massages safe after cataract surgery? It's been a couple of months. I have had dry eyes for years. I use Restasis and artificial tears. They help, but my eyes are still very dry.
