Hi Dr. Painter. Looking forward to these sessions. Wondering if there is a way to remix the audio. You have a soft voice and with a little bit of ambient noise it is difficult to follow along

Using the Ephesian passages here has reminded me of a point about the Church that we have rather lost sight of over the centuries. As Paul says, the Church was supposed to bring together Jews and Gentiles; and in NT terms it is not depicted as a separate thing 'superseding' or 'replacing' Israel, but rather very much IN CONTINUITY WITH the OT people of God. One of the things which shows this is the word 'ekklesia' itself. It isn't a new word for a new organisation, it is actually the word used in the Septuagint/LXX Greek translation of the OT for the 'congregation' of Israel. Jesus as Messiah/King of the Jews intended to create a single body with Gentiles grafted in or co-adopted into a single people alongside the Jews. One major reason this vision was lost was I think when the Church was mistakenly 'nationalised' to be the Roman Imperial religion - that led to a dynamic in which Jews would be treated as dissenters/heretics. Had the Christian 'congregation' remained independent as equally a dissenting body in the Empire, reonciliation of Jew and Gentile in such a Church might have been much easier. This one of many reasons we should finally disown the idea of 'state churches' which of course has many other problems

Quite amateurish exegesis!!! I smell the trite typically boring classical neo feministic Marxist's class division. The idea of atheistic marxist influenced philosophers purporting to expound Christian Biblical doctrine is so hilariously ridiculous that I could barely endure the video to the end. I definitely prefer to be taught not by 'professional professors ' but rather the edifying truths espoused by True 'people' of THE LIVING GOD. The Apostolic epistle writers exhorted us ' True Believers ' "... to desire the sincere milk of the 'WORD'; and to get rid of the spiritual baby teeth by 'growing a set' of mature teeth so one can learn to eat the 'MEAT' of GODS' word and become muscular Christians, not the figurative pharisees prevalent in any period of The CHURCHES' history!!!

1st) Sorry to say the video and audio quality are poor. Close those window blinds to gather some light rather than the faded diffusion of picture the sunlight caused; get a head on face shot with the video camera, so viewer can see facial features of the speakers. Get some help with the acoustics of the room.2nd) I did not hear any specific chapter and verse references illustrating not even approx contextual teaching of the scriptures, except for OLD Testament or New Testament. I'm assuming the subject or theme of the speakers/authors was "BIBLICAL VIOLENCE"(?). Here are some obvious references that popped up off the top of my head. Matthew 11:12 KJV - " And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of (GOD) and /or) heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force." Implies simultaneous obedience of OLD Testament law in leiu of and until " the then coming 'new' Testament - not of the "... blood of sheep and goats" but the shed blood of the Divine Saviour - the eternal sacrifice- done once and for all !!! takes form as the 'NEW and EVERASTING COVENANT!!! Another more also direct analysis to direct our thinking about the subject is Matthew 5:19 - " Whosoever ..shall break....least commandments and shall teach men so....be called least in the kingdom of heaven: ....shall do ( obey and learn the derivative) ....same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:1- 14 Kjv . Lots of violence in this chapter. Our Lord even recommends self inflicted violence if one prefers not to obey the commandments of the Lord. Assuming the repentant attitude of the born again (in their spirit) little child of God is the posture to assume assuring a seat at the table of those numbering themselves as being greatest in the kingdom of heaven. I hope that my contribution elucidates rather than obfuscates the discussion. But my only mea-culpa being the distractive technical reality of the presentation caused my inability to precisely hear or understand the underlying theme of the subject matter and the speakers' attitudes and intentions. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

The sexual predator evangelist in this story fits very well with the character of Yahweh throughout the OT. It is no surprise that churched people would support the perpetrator, that's exactly what Yahweh would call for and it is Yahweh so many church people worship. They do not love the concept of God that Jesus points to. The whole history of the church is testament to vile behaviour by many of its members (not all members). The story presented matches my own experience over 9 years as a child and youth and is definitely no surprise. People who worship the OT God Yahweh are of a particular nature. That nature is the polar opposite of what Jesus represents.

We are in the new heavens and earth Mat 5:18 ISV because I tell all of you with certainty that until heaven and earth disappear, not one letter or one stroke of a letter will disappear from the Law until everything has been accomplished. Everything has been accomplished in 70ad the old covenant passed away Heb 12:27 ISV The expression “once more” signifies the removal of what can be shaken, that is, what he has made, so that what cannot be shaken may remain.

Here is my prophecy for Trump, his demons, like Flynn and Stone, congressional insurrectionists and Trump's devil spawn are all going to prison for being traitors to America and destroy themselves and salvation by worshiping Trump and being Christian Nationalist. "One of the worst examples of Christian nationalism today is Michael Flynn and Eric Trump's so-called "ReAwaken America Tour." Each tour stop is a toxic, two-day parade of pro-Trump preachers, MAGA celebrities, and QAnon conspiracy theorists mixing election denial, violent rhetoric, and deadly COVID-19 misinformation with baptisms and praise music -- all in Jesus's name for audiences of thousands. Next month, the ReAwaken America Tour is planning a major stop in North Las Vegas, Nevada -- where they'll be setting up shop at Craig Ranch Regional Park, a publicly owned, taxpayer-funded venue. White Christian nationalism is a political ideology that says we should be a Christian nation where Christians receive special legal rights. Its adherents believe they are on a holy mission and will stop at nothing to seize power, which is why Christian nationalism played such a strong role in the January 6 insurrection. It's no surprise that white Christian nationalism fosters antisemitism at events like ReAwaken America. In May, it was revealed that two frequent speakers at ReAwaken America had praised Hitler. In 2021, when the tour visited an antisemitic pastor's Texas megachurch, Flynn said America needs "one religion." And now in Nevada, Roseanne Barr will be a new addition to the tour's lineup -- just a few weeks after proclaiming, "Six million Jews should die right now 'cause they cause all the problems in the world." After Faithful America staff wrote to North Las Vegas officials asking them to cancel the event, they told us they're allowing this hateful event to move forward because they are obligated to by the First Amendment. But make no mistake: The Constitution does not protect the incitement of violence.

I met Georgina in December 2015 when I attended a Christmas event at a Muslim run community centre in Gloucester at the invitation of a local Muslim lady. The event was fascinating, and inspired me to want to follow up with more meetings. Unfortunately, the Scriptural Reasoning grass roots group in Gloucester, consisting of women only, would not invite men to any further meetings. That was a real shock and a shame for me, as I found the potential of a scriptural reasoning group fascinating and potentially liberating. I went on to study the Qur'an and many aspects of Islam for myself, but never managed to link up with any Muslims again except briefly with some Muslim men at a different sort of a group in my local town. The absence of trust amongst Muslims to interact with Christians, particularly men, and probably vice versa, makes meaningful interaction with people of other faiths at the community level very difficult. Until trust is present, then interfaith activity outside of academia is fruitless.

1 Thessalonians 4:14 God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are ((((( still alive, who are left ))))))) until the coming of the Lord ................... 2 Thessalonians 2 .... Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition

I find this very convincing, and a great exegesis of Gen 22. I wonder from a perspective of Biblical Theology, how this reading connects with Hebrews 11:17-19 ((NIV) 17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18 even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” 19 Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.)? Was Abraham acting in sincere faith, even though his faith was sincerely misguided? Is this another revelation of God's beautiful graciousness in that He accounts faith as righteousness, even though our faith, at times, leads to wrongheaded action?
