So nice to hear open sounding, higher tuned and natural sounding resonant drums. It seems everyone today goes for the same deadened down low pitched sound but these lovely sounding drums sound like a kit should! Beautiful kit and playing sir!
Great playing on an impressive sounding kit. Unfortunately, these kits don’t sit well with me because of the long extended lug design (from earlier years) which results in unalignment on the smaller toms. Why not do a more modern redesign to shorten lugs for better aesthetics.
Hi Alan Nice to hear from you Yes these are my new jazz kit I took them out last week At the three judges in Glasgow They sound even better life I have to change my approach to playing these Sonor vintage If I play them more relaxed They sound better. 👍
Thanks I do have various drum kit’s but I enjoy playing Sonor recently if you fancy a sonor drum kids again I highly suggest Sonor SQ1 I also own one of these kis’s I keep meaning to video it but it is always in the cases ready to go I use it all the time it is great for any type of music . Cheers
Thats beautiful. I can really appreciate the sound of those drums. It’s just when I sit down to play if mine in a tune like that, it’s not the sound in my head that I hear when I play drums I need to have them as low as they go and still produce a fundamental note , but I sure do like the way they sing
Hi You can tune them low and they sound great as well. But I bought this Vintage because they can go high Without choking Nice sound for Latin jazz Cheers
Hi thanks I love this Sonor vintage they are more sturdy than the Gretsch USA but the Gretsch have their own unique sound for me SONOR and Yamaha. The sizes off the Sonor 20"-16"-14"-12"-10"👍
@@sandrociancio7550 I really love your tuning and playing on this kit!! I have an SQ2 all Medium Beech kit and I can't get this tone out of them. Thanks Sandro!!
@@sandrociancio7550 so far so good, actually sticking with the stock ambassador heads. This kit seems to have the perfect amount of resonance without dampening. I tried thicker heads and that just killed the sound too much.
I think I'm becoming a Sonor guy last year i have traded my Gretsch USA for SONOR SQ1 10"-12"-14-"20" and that's all I've been using for any type of music SQ1 very versatile 👍
Very impressive the Vintage series drums feature hand-selected 9ply premium German Beech shells rounded Bearing Edges and undersize shells sounds and feels great👍
Yep. The Catalina Club is a great set. I have the 18-inch bass drum version. (I don’t use the stock snare, though. My USA custom works very well with the set, thank you very much.) That ride to your left sounds suspiciously like an Istanbul. Am I close to the mark?
Thanks I'm enjoying it and it is so light I am using it on Sunday for the first time but I'm also taking my Brooklyn snare drum I don't trust it yet. all the symbols I'm playing are ISTANBUL AGOP SIGNATURE 22"ride 20"ride 18"crash 14" hi-hats 👍
@@sandrociancio7550 Awesome! Istanbul makes excellent cymbals. I’m more partial to their Jazz Special Edition series, but the signature and Traditional series are also great.
