Great tip on removable valve vs non. Could you not just use a Presta/Schrader adaptor to help make the clear tube fit? (maybe its a dumb idea for a reason I don't realise yet) Thx for the vid 🤩

Good tips here but for those of us who never had any idea that presta valves come in two varieties, showing the actual removal of the valve would make this video much more complete.

It looks very cozy! What size dome is it you have? I see that they are being sold in three sizes: Mini, S and M, but it's a bit difficult to see from the pictures on the web page how spacious they are.

@chrisdevereux
@chrisdevereux 5 месяцев назад
@@kristoferkrus Yes very happy. It fits the space we have and is not so big that it makes it too difficult to build or keep clean. Obviously if you want to hold big dinner parties etc, then the bigger the better 😉

@ChrisDevereux hi there . Have you made any upgrades to your dome? Ive added the port door. Wow that was an adventure for sure.
@chrisdevereux
@chrisdevereux 7 месяцев назад
Love the look of the port door, looks so much easier than the zip and roll method! Do you like it? We added a shade-sail for temperature management in the summer. It still gets warm, but is more bearable without direct sunlight hitting you.
@path925
@path925 7 месяцев назад
@chrisdevereux yes loving the port door. It s way easier to get in and out. And the dog loves it too. I will add a screen door (one with a magnetic center in the summer months to keep the bugs out). We have a sunsail as well. It does help. I have also added a window that opens. That keeps the ventilation for the summer as well. I see they now have a wood stove. But that is only for the M model. I think it might be easy to add a tiny wood stove with a few personal modifications to the S model.
@chrisdevereux
@chrisdevereux 7 месяцев назад
I have a window but never got around to fitting it, would you recommend? A stove would be lovely but I fear it would take up a lot of space, what with having to be certain distance from the dome. I wonder if that's why they haven't released one for the S 🤔

Apparently, there's this polycarbonate adhesive known as Lexel that you probably could have used to bond the panels together for a permanent watertight seal. You wouldn't have any algae growth at the joints and pressure washing wouldn't be a problem.

Wouldn't this result in damage when the wind pushes the dome from outside to inside?

@ajj4483
@ajj4483 2 месяца назад
I’ve done silconed mine and the green still gets in despite that. I have the much large Glamping dome. Best way is to have a 2 person system to clean each side, loosening, cleaning and re-tightening the panels. This is a must to keep it clean.

It's also possible to remove the valve using the base of a chain link extractor. Just the right size.

did you heat it when very cold outside? wondering about condensation control. Thank you
@richardking4192
@richardking4192 8 месяцев назад
Occasionally but during the period November to March it doesn’t get much use and yes there is a lot of condensation. But the only effect would be on any fabrics left inside. Once a year, usually a warm day in May we jet wash outside and give the inside a good clean.

Chris I am at present testing the DOME S which I built around a month ago. I have identified two problems, and I wonder if you or any other reader has had a similar experience. The first problem is with condensation. I have tried leaving window and door open and also installing a crystal based humidifier to no avail. I could install a mains driven humidifier, but it would be an expensive addition due to the length of underground cable required. The second problem is with ingress of water at ground level (possibly a small leak on the roof also, but hard to detect). Whilst there is not a lot of water from the ground level there is a major amount from the condensation, and before I install the ground sheet I want the floor to be dry as it is on decking. I have considered silicone sealing at the ground level. Any input would be appreciated.
