Homesteading journey of Bullit and YaYa. Come along with us as we share our story and the things we do day to day. We'll talk about faith, our community of like minded friends, our efforts with gardening, infrastructure, land management, permaculture, ebikes and just life on a new homestead. Along the way we'll meet up with friends, share our life experiences and even sprinkle in some extra stuff we do for fun like leather work, painting and other crafts.
chickens are so addicting. I used to have all pure breeds. How they have all crosses. I am 75 and I enjoy them. I have 2 hens that came out from hiding with a clutch of babies, they seem to be co parenting.
Thank you. We appreciate the compliment though no one is perfect. Thank you for the sub as well. Got a few things worth sharing that will be coming up soon.
Superb video. Have spent weeks search for bikes that can take our heavier weight (strength of frame) and have enough battery and power (motor) that makes e-biking safe and fun. Many thanks
I noticed some "acid" comments and I'll try to avoid that path! I do not like your choices, but one's dream is another man nightmare... I am old too, and I can't overload or I won't be able to move... I can understand your point... but then you have 3 knives and a saw, redundant cordage, 2 water filter systems, redundant breast-plates, a tarp, a ground-cloth + constructor bags, 2 ifacs ...but then no blanket / woobie, almost no food... If you put the sitting-pad in its proper place (in the sleeve where you have the spare plate) but inside and with it extended, and if you take off your stuff from the inside and extend the wings and the tail, you get a good enough "mattress" / ground insulation for a couple of nights.. I use the accessory bag as a "scout" container, I have fire, light, a spare blade, a T6Zero tarp, a booboo kit, some food... In the bag I have a kit more rudimentary then yours... a alcool or solid fuel stove, a titanium small pot (enough to make some tea or a warm bouillon... Although my environment is warmer then yours (from 0°C to 48°C so about 30 to 120F), a woobie is a must! Also another container for water (yes, I also use Grayl, I have 3 in different backpacks!) I have a spare filter-straw in the scout-bag and a Millibank pre-filter bag. Wet-wipes, gloves, neck-gaiter and hat or buff... Once again, my intent is not criticize, but perhaps give useful sugestions to other people. Thanks, God bless...
I appreciate the feedback but a couple things to consider. 1.) this video was a moment in time for something I used all the time and it was posted over a year ago. All of these things are an evolution of thought and usage. There were a lot of things that were redundant which had gotten shoved in the bag and never came out. They were placed in there for one reason or another over the 2 years I ran that bag. Shortly after that video I actually started going through it and pulling things out. If you watch some of my more recent videos you’ll notice that I graduated from this specific bag onto something else that is lighter and more streamlined. 2. I think its also prudent to remember that its highly personal. I didn’t build that for anyone else. No one else used it. I agree with a lot of your criticisms but again it was a moment in time view of something I’d had with me and was in and out of regularly for over 2 years. Naturally things are going to change and things get added and taken away as life changes. 3. Bags I put together for these purposes in austere conditions are not for camping, sleeping, etc. They are for moving. Moving as fast and efficiently as possible yo get where I’m going. I mentioned a few times in comments that sleep wasn’t an objective. I don’t have multiple setups because I don’t have multiple backs. I can only carry one bag and its objective is to support while I move but I also didn’t cover my truck setup or any of the other parts to my systems that don’t fit in the bag. If I’m stranded, its probably in my truck and so those systems are in the vehicle… not on my back. Things like blankets, excess food, etc. don’t serve the purpose of moving. They support the purpose of staying in one place. So by that reasoning they don’t go in a bag like this. We’re all learning as we move through this journey called life. We all draw upon our own experiences and those of others. I appreciate the comment and I appreciate the view. It means a lot to me that you stopped by to share your thoughts and I hope I’ve earned your subscription. I started this channel to share our journey and get feedback like this from others so for that I thank you. God bless you as well my friend. Thanks for stopping by. If you are anywhere near the midwest I hope you’d consider checking out the Midwest Preparedness Project’s Spring Festival May 7-12. Its sure to be a good time with like minded, family oriented and friendly folks doing life together. We’d love to have you and I’s love to get to know you around a campfire.
Love this! Thanks for also putting emphasis on the need for electrolytes. I wanna look into that brand you have there too so that I can add it to those I have.
Honestly I don’t know that the brand matters. I just have a really hard time spending $30-$40 on 24 individual serving packets since I know I’m just paying for branding and plastic. I think the main things are to get the electrolytes and with as little added sugar as possible. I honestly chose that one not for the brand but the potency of the minerals I know are needed and because I felt it was a flavor I could chug or drink slowly.
@@nowherehomesteady Agreed. I've stocked a crap-ton of the single serve packs and it's a fact that you're paying more for a lot less, and making more waste. While it might make sense for short term preps and convenience (camping, hiking etc), a longer term prep is going to require the canisters where you'll benefit more for less.
You are right. I will fix it on the next one. I was rushed and didn’t get the volume adjustment correct but I was trying to be more corny than it needed and it just didn’t land as intended. Thanks for watching and commenting though. It’ll get better.
@nowherehomesteady I meant as in if someone feels it's important to them, screw what anyone else thinks.. I didn't mean any shade. Re-reading that, it sounds shitty. Just to be clear
