In fairness to the guy who was supposed to “get Tommy his money”, it’s possible he was cold calling people to try to find angel investors since that was Tommy’s original plan. Tommy allegedly had a meeting with a big money investor but when he made the hard sell with a terrible prototype the whole deal fell through, that is when Tommy started to crowd source. Tommy originally said he did not want to do things like Kickstarter because of scams like Coleco Chameleon, but changed his mind when his financial situation changed. But I do like your theory that everyone there knew the company was doomed and just worked second jobs on Tommys dime.
Speaking of Tommy being fake: I'm a musician, a DJ, and have been doing live sound for close to 2 decades. I have never seen a single piece of footage of Tommy actually playing a guitar. The only footage I've ever seen of Tommy with a guitar has been from his Video Games Live shows, and he's clearly miming to a backing track in all of it. I said this in the chat of a live stream interview he did some years back, and he glad he ignored me. I ended up being kicked from the chat wheh I told him that he could prove me (and a few others) wrong by getting one of his guitars and playing it for 30 seconds on the stream. So I definitely have my doubts about Tommy being able to play guitar at all.
This tour sort of reminds me of The Office. Just a 🤡 walking around creating awkward moments not knowing tf he's even talking about. You can just tell this guy knows fuck all about how to run business or anything about video games. A more out of touch ignoramus could have not be found for this role trust me. And no... Got themselves a giant office space in California owned by Amico's Chief financial officer that averages $220,000 a year in rent. The same guy pays himself a $200k yearly salary. Slopes Gaming Room confirmed in his documentary about this fiasco that they opened four offices in total one was in Germany the other in Dubai. Well, some people will get angry at you for saying this, but your solution is better in any way you could think of. More games, better emulation, better hardware and cheaper in the long run.
Well, I just made an entire video. Evercade vs and exp are fine. Instead of an Alpha, just buy an arcade stick that works with the VS. That's what I'd have done.

Except when you can get an 8bitdo arcade panel + one of several arcade collections like Capcom Arcade Stadium for a fraction of the price of these emulation cabinet things the value proposition isn't there. I personally can't see paying the asking price for this/most of the Arcade1ups etc.
I love arcade sticks. I collect them. That's why I think the alpha is a missed opportunity. It doesn't seem good. I'd rather they just release an arcade stick for the VS. Or release a countertop that's actually good. The alpha is more a piece of decoration. It's basically a toy, not an arcade machine.
Evercade is not even terrible. No comparison to Amico. But Evecade isn't nearly as funny. Pick your poison. I prefer Amico in that sense. Lots of entertainment.

They didn’t need any of this, they could have gone the Atari way. Licence out the games to get some cheap My Arcade/ Flashback made. Put out some games collections on various platforms. In the meanwhile with the profits maybe get your own UI flashed to a cheap hackable box. That may have worked. But they never intended to launch anything. Having those cars in the “shipping area” says it all, they’re not going anywhere.
i would like to play it once just to see how good the emulation is, bc on a game like sfii that lag is really critical. that being said, i would absolutely never buy this
To be frank, Evercade so far did a pretty good job with the emulation lag. I expect only a couple frames of emulation lag. But to play SFII, I'd rather have better controls and a better screen.

I think going by ego TT wanted this to be a success. I think he counted his chickens before they hatched. A lot of his interviews were pie in the sky yea yea we can do this, do that. Wasnt there a supposed huge line of credit? Its the SECRET, self fulfilling prophecy gimmick, he was counting on. When things fell apart, probably when a big investor pulled out, that's when the excuses, covid, chip shortage, delays happened. He just lied to stall for time in hopes of a financial savior and the lies just snowballed.

The whole hook of the project was the Intellivision name, otherwise why would have TT bought the name in the first place.
Scam company? A company that sells products is not a scam company. A scam would be saying you will plan to sell or we are offering this and never do. As for almost EVERY company on the market, they all acquire and some do things and some don't. How could anyone just stay on the negative from beginning to end?
