Yes, this was lena Horne'sdebut 'single' in 1936. Considered the 'A side' . It wasn't a top 40 hit but it got her some notice in the industry to start with.

Django is stuck with the Gypsy Jazz label which gives people the impression he was a one trick pony ad doesn't,t do him justice he was a hell of a lot more. He didn,t know he was playing Gypsy jazz he played the way that was natural for him it was the guitarists that followed in his giant footsteps that give it the name and laid down the rules. Django never stood still he was always 2 steps ahead of every body. Always exploring new ways of playing. Listen to his final 53 recordings you can hear be bop

In "The Jazz Years," Leonard Feather recounted producing a 4-tune session on New Year's Eve 1944 that included this tune. Feather wrote the chart and played piano, for a small band that included Aaron Sachs (clarinet), Georgie Auld (tenor), and Dizzy Gillespie. He said that a lyricist, Jessyca Russell, brought him a couple of tunes, including this one.

Here is a strange and bitter crop ".

One Hour With You, is perhaps on the finest ballads composed. I dont think I've ever heard a "weak" rendition of and that includes this "Chocolate Dandies" 95 yr old recording which might be among the earliest. I just let myself go, and it brings a wistful tear to my eye.

The reason i think many people don’t comment is because they’re just old people. And i find that just so cool that RU-vid can let people listen to such stuff for free.
