Iowa native Ryan Unash, aka SHIKIMO, first found a passion for electronic music in 2010, when he was introduced to the music of Basshunter. In 2011, with the aid of his musical background - including double bass and piano - he began producing his own music using FL Studio, starting with trance, and expanding over the years into a wide variety of genres before developing his own unique blend of chill synthwave.
Space, weather, and beautiful landscapes shape the mood of SHIKIMO’s tracks, and he finds himself focusing on a particular setting when creating his sounds. His music has amassed millions of plays across all platforms, and his 2018 EP, "Off-World" was named "the best synth-ambient project of the decade" by Synthwave Radio.
This song hits me in a very special way. Im trying to write things. And this track is a reminder if most emotional scene i ever created in my mind. Its about the immortal lady who has a biggest lost in her long-ling life. She is crying, she's screaming, she's dancing and smoking last cigars (in a world that doesn't have created the cigarette yet), and changing forever. Cause last that remains from him - is all his memories in her head. She takes part of his habits, because this is perhaps the only way to leave at least part of him in this world. and when the last cigarette remains, she pulls herself together. and this whole scene takes place in my head to this track. Every time I hear this track, I feel part of those emotions. and I hope that someday I will be able to convey these emotions through text. Thank you very much. Accidently, but you gave me a purpose.
@@Shikimo Your answer hit me with a wave of either inspiration or determination to get to work. This is the first time I feel this way. (possibly from low socialization, but that doesn’t matter) For this I want to once again express my gratitude to you. I don't want to be rude, but can I use your name as a reference? I still haven't given a name to the main character of that story. Ryan will be more than suitable, but my conscience will not allow me to do this without your consent. Sorry to interrupt you. And thanks again.
This whole album is breathtaking! I can't wait for more like these one day, because these are all gonna be my go-to songs for driving now! This'll never get old!
I once said that the original song felt like the melodies of God. It holds up in this version, and might even be to an even higher degree than the original. While the original has a beautiful vision of Heaven in my head, this song feels like it tells the backstory a bit more. It feels melancholy, as if one has died, yet triumphant, as if their reward is finally earned. Whatever it is, I absolutely love it!
Perfect driving music. This and its counterpart songs are gonna be my new driving songs when I startup your list of songs! It's super groovy and the bass is extra present, which I really enjoy!
The fact that this became 7 minutes long already has me sold from the get-go. The sound still retains all its purity, and I love absolutely everything about it! You've done a splendid job with this one, and I can't wait for more down the line!
♫ Really appreciate everyone listening to my music in 2023. My focus was more on behind-the-scenes work with SHIKIMO this year, and as a result, I only was able to release three tracks. That will change in 2024 - I'm looking to have a multitude of releases. 🌌 Follow me to stay updated on new music: linktr.ee/shikimo
