Thank you very much! This video helped a lot. I was able to open mine with no issues. Sentry wanted things signed and dated with a notary as well.. it only took me about 10 minutes max to figure out the combo. Thankfully mine still worked fine afterwords and I just glued the crap out of the hole I drilled. It's hardly noticeable and works great.
Although it is an old video, it has the same mechanism as my new Sentry safe. This are fire and water safes, not to protect valuables from burglary (but I keep money inside it anyway). Thanks for the video. Sentry says that this lock CAN'T be changed, but I notice that you could "rearrange" the wheels. Haven't tried it yet, but I you could change the wheels and use this video method to get the new numbers. Don't close the safe until you really checked the new combination several times.
I'm not 100% sure, but what you may be able to do is take off the back panel like I did in my video and remove the clip that holds the tumblers in place. If the shaft that hold them is shaped like a "D" (tube but flat on a side), you're kind of out of luck, however if it's either round or shaped like a hex tool, you may be able to rotate the tumblers. This safe isn't really meant to have it's combo changed, but as long as you don't close it, you can always play around and maybe change it.
Thanks for posting. Hey, I have a question, don't know if you might know the answer, but I think it's still worth asking: can the combination in this model be changed? I bought this model today and it seems like it's been previously used, or at least the previous buyer returned it before putting it to use. So, to be safe, I wanted to maybe, be able to customize the combination.
the electronic ones have a standard preset code, the dials dont. so if its been set, its been set. I dont know about these specific locks, but a lot of them do have a reset code X-X-X, something like that and then you can set a new code. given that Sentry makes less exppensive safes I would be surprised if they made them without a fail-safe like that, but you cant expect common sense from people, and they have made a litany of mistakes.
