Video's progressing the the restoration of the Bentwaters Cold War Museum owned SEPECAT Jaguar GR1A frame XX741 at Bentwaters Park, Suffolk. The Museum is trying to restore the frame to a ground running / fast taxi condition. Unfortunately she will not fly again, CAA regulations require aerospace budgets and manufacturer support, no remaining life on parts of the frame and the cost is prohibitive, even if the other factors were positive.
Wow that's a blast from the past i was at RAF Valley when these aircraft came into service my boss was the education officer (sqd.ldr.mike Shannon) in 1970 happy days 😊
The inboard Flaps were a bugger for cracking, along the line where the flap met the upper wing. changed out so many, the wing fences were another thing that cracked
Massive congratulations to everyone involved in this project with the demise of the fast taxi days at Bruntingthorpe this is good to see, liked and subscribed 👍👏
CAA would let it fly if BAe, RR and Martin Baker would support it and if we had the money to refit the aircraft with airworthy parts. Unfortunately none that will ever happen.
Nope, can't do it legally as the Manufacturer will not support the aircraft and there in no documentation for a lot of the parts refitted, Can't do it physically as most of the Nav / Attack Avionics is missing and without those the primarily flight information display (HUD) doesn't work and most of the fuel tanks are blanked off
