All about Lasers, how to use them, upgrade them, make them cut better and faster. How to use Lightburn, Inkscape. Laser Upgrades will be focused on the Longer ray5 10W as thats what I have though parts for the 5 and 20W versions will also be made. Although Upgrade parts may be made of other lasers subject to having dimensioned drawings

This is an excellent video for set up of a diode laser. I have been using my Ray 5 10w for over a year and recently upgraded to a 20w. In doing so, I didn't realize how critical squaring the frame and adjusting the belts and wheels on the gantry were since my 10w was pretty much assembled and worked great out of the box. This video will walk you through setup step-by-step and is very easy to follow. Took my machine apart yesterday and followed Andy's instructions and feel much more confident for my new output. Thank you Andy!

It's very important that the gantry is square to the frame. I have covered this in other videos. If you ever have your stepper motors grid / miss steps, like when the head crashes into the side of the frame, and your stepper make a strange loud noise like gears grinding, you would need to check your gantry squareness again. Its an easy process which I have covered in two videos. See videos 2 and 22

My old hose broke last week. It was similar to the first one you measured. While browsing at the hardware store for a new one I was literally holding the new one you have there in my hands but opted for the old one because I knew what I was getting. Since I did not take it out of its packaging yet, I guess I should return it and get the smooth one instead.

I disagree. I think the manual says to place the focusing column on the laser module. The picture in the calibration section of the manual has the focusing column under the laser module. If it was under the frame the focusing module would be further out (closer to the camera). "Then place the focusing column vertically on the bottom of the laser head form the rear side, and manually lift the laser head so that the bottom of the rear side of the laser is close to the upper surface of the calibration column."
