Hi I'm trying to figure out the simplest way to run a Zetec. A Friend bought a river boat that has a 1.6 crossflow he has spent quite a lot to get the engine up to date it hadn't even had the head done for unleaded and after spending on that and changing every gasket +electronic ignition then the head gasket leaked the electronic ignition gave up. Switching it to a Zetec seems the obvious way to go to me.
Have a look at my Nodiz video that you will need for the electronics. Your not going to need to change the sump for example as I assume it's just going to sit in place. You will need bike carbs for fueling though but those can be picked up fairly easily in the UK. What a great question for me to answer. Thanks for asking 😊
Some stuff that I bring on road trips are a "tire worm kit", so you don't have to ruin your tire with goo in case of a puncture. Some extra motor oil, ATF for autos, light bulbs, fuses, relays, spare wires and connectors, electrical tape, couple of nuts and bolts, duct tape, spare fan belt (I actually needed one once and didn't have one!). And it looks like you have space for a cooler box, I bring one when possible because cold drinks really help keep the spirit up especially on a hot summer day with no AC. Have a good trip!
We have looked at a cooler box but it's probably more hassle that it's worth so we've gone for a cool bag to keep things cool. Alice has only got a 34L fuel tank so we have to stop fairly regularly anyway 🫣
Can u tell or show me where exactly, i have a similar car, mazda 3 bk 1.6 diesel, another question is that if i disconnect the pipe from slave cylinder and lift the pipe upward will be enough or i must usr a clamp somewhere

Hi dude I've been watching your channel for along time and when you did the zetec conversion and when you needed to change your tie bar from sb part have you still got your genuine one and would you sell it and would you bring it over to England when you come in August to the ford fair 2024 and would you posted it in England or if you like to come and deliver it in person and I will give you what you want for it because I've been looking for one for a long time
I'm not sure if I still have it and I won't get the opportunity to look for it before I leave I'm afraid. I can have a look in my storage when I get back and could send it to you then if that helps?
@@Mk2_FezStefan thanks for that info. I spent ages looking for information to see if I could mount them in different positions and found absolutely nothing so I'm really grateful that you told me what I have been looking for
I've got to give the drum brakes on my Mk4 a good clean up before its MOT retest... This video is the best one I've seen on the subject. Thanks for making it!
@@mike_themechanic you're very welcome! What did you do with this sweet little Fiesta in the end? (I admit I haven't checked any of your other videos yet...!)
Hey, Your content quality is excellent and your content ideas are also good. But your videos have lower audience engagement. Need a proper searchable video tag set up to reach the targeted area and audience. Here are also some of the issues which you need to fix. If those problems are fixed your video easily ranks on the top search results and you get your potential viewers according to your video niche organically. I have some plans for you to fix those issues. Can I share?
Hi Mike, thanks for the video, we just had the Aurora show in Båstad. We had a lot of the top sports cars gathered at the Koenigsegg Installation on Friday. Work in the morning and i am still walking on air. 🪁
Mike..hope you can help me...completely forgotten how to see whether its on AC or DC? Is light on mean AC? used it for aluminium a lot many years ago...no problems- no complaints.
Ford used 2 different types of heater motor, the bosch one you have only works with your heater box, with the red tops and that white cage. the other type you can't change the motor on annoyingly.
@@nickwhitney1534 Yes as Mike said, take bonnet catch plate off and see if yours has the red plastic tabs on top and if you can see the white cage which holds the motor. 👍👍
I had the silver top zetec in my MK1 and with that you could stick a 1.8 head on the 2.0 block and fit the RS turbo steel head gasket which was 0.7mm instead of the standard 2.0mm so with both you got a nice compression raise with out having to skim the block, if it came you it you could still safely take 20-30 thou off it even with high lift cams fitted. Not sure about the black top but all your problems sound tappety / clearance related so a new head would probably sort it if you can't sort out the one you already have.
I did look at that and the closest I could get was 3.0mm and I needed 3.15mm so it would have probably still made a tapping noise although less it would still be there
@@jaggass was it thin metal? Could be that the panels weren't exactly level when welded or could be too much heat causing the edges to shrink in and then when ground back they leave the weld lower than the rest of the panel. I got the tip of welding three spots then cooling the weld area from whiteland Restorations here on RU-vid they do loads of bodywork stuff
